Really enjoyed the analysis, fun video.
I think one of the reasons for so many of the disconnects is that this book was written in isolation. I know JK says she planned the whole thing out but that isn't right. The houses for instance are basically:
Griffindor: Main Characters
Slytherine: Bad Guys
Other houses: Everyone else
Even the Dursley's abuse is classic English kids literature stuff and only becomes so jarring when the world becomes more realistic in the later books.
