I don't think it does. I'm not looking at the recording signal flow diagram right now, and I'm not at my DAW; but records te input signal and FX (the reverb) are applied to the track output.
As someone who has a tendency to layer in roughly 2 trillion vocal tracks in any given project, I don't know why I didn't think of having a monitoring track for the vocals with all the effects as needed. Or even have a louder "monitor" track and have a recorded version that's more mixed in.
Thank you for this - I think it'll save me at least 30-60 seconds per track of clicking :D

The first method, the track also records vocals WITH effects, but with the second 2 track method, Track 1 only records dry vocals and a better choice.
That's not true. Check the Signal Flow Diagram in the manual. The audio input is recorded as received from the audio interface. FX and track controls are applied to the track output.

I saw a video on this same subject but using the TH3 for guitar. I was getting terrible latency when switched on but needed to hear the effect. This video I watched (can't even find it now) they used an AUX Track and it worked like a charm!! The effect stays in the guitar track create an AUX Track and send the Guitar track to it. Not sure I understand why it works (I'm not even sure why your tip works) but it does and that's all I need.
thanks for this sir, i spend a lot of hours trying to figure out how to remove the latency issue.. i am actually not having this issue on asio device but using a voicemeter the issue occurs. so i think this is a great work around.. thanks a lot.
Great trick. I've done that exact method for adding reverb while recording vocals for the last few vocal tracks since my sound card doesn't have reverb. It's really nice to sing with the reverb. Thanks for the video.

Ok! I had found the direct monitoring was troublesome, since there is a slight delay between what I am playing, and the playback. Its just a ... bit... out of sync. The latency is a huge problem when playing slap bass, because it's all about timing. Great tip - cant wait to try it out. Thanks!

That is a great tip. But to be clear you are not removing latency you are just removing the dry signal in both approaches so the latency can't be heard right? another awesome video, Thank you.

There is also a way to go into the settings and reduce the latency by going into audio drivers and changing buffering. Takes up more processor speed but I’ve got it down to barely any.

How do you reduce latency when recording midi? I find i have the same problem when trying to record my piano, the note plays a second after playing a and it messes up my rythem

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this! My brain was hurting from trying to do exactly THIS. I used to use cakewalk SONAR back in the olden [2002-2004] days and I was able to do this easily (with a sound-card that had separate inputs for headphones and mic] but for some reason with this new [free yay!] version and my newer [not free ha-ha] laptop, I was stumped! This option worked great with a splitter input plug for my microphone and mic since my laptop has a microphone-headset capable sound card.

can you make a video on censoring vocals on cakewalk,such as tape stop ect. I would appreciate it a lot
I find my latency is so low, I never get that delay effect, in fact I've never really experienced that delay effect even when using Sonar X1 and an M-Audio 2496 card on my old HP with a Celeron Processor. My new HP has a Hexacore and I now use a Focusrite 8i6. I thought I might have latency as it's a usb interface and not a PCI card but no, so far it's all cool. By the way I do something similar with my effects but usually have them on a Bus instead of the channel, which obviously means I can share the same effect with all vocals at the same time.
I've been watching your vids for a while mate, they've helped me a lot, Thought I was a seasoned Cakewalk user but you've gave me quite a few good tips.

PCI cards make use of interrupts and go straight to the cpu. USB latency is often determined by the slowest device in the same bus, which is why you always make sure the interface is the only device using that port. I remember a friend using a Delta 1010 and being able to go down to 0.025 ms of latency.
This is cool but I don't fully understand the WHY/HOW this works. My interface doesn't have any direct monitoring feature that I know of. It seems to me that doing just the wet reverb effect is just as latent as the non-effect echo-on situation but because it is reverb you don't hear the annoying delay as well. Is that correct? If so, I would think that track playback after recording would sound slightly different than what you hear while recording.
But and also...
What I would really like to learn is tricks on how I can manage a large project when my PC starts getting overloaded and I need to begin down-mixing tracks to be able to add more and this then makes editing of the song very slow and hard.
In my case my main VST of choice is Omnisphere 2.6 which is incredibly powerful but once you add too many sounds it just dies. I have beefed up my PC but eventually you always hit this state once your music gets complex enough and the inflexibility that ensues with the complexity makes it no longer any fun to work on.
Maybe there is no easy answer to this, but if there is, Please make a video on this.

In case you didn't get the answer 3 years ago...freeze the tracks until you need to edit them again. When you have tons of tracks/effects and your system is bogging down, just work on one "unfrozen" track at a time.

You did'nt mention lowering the buffer size to help with latency.
I use it in a live setting. And send the channels for Reverb to a bus this bus has then an output on my interface and lo and behold we are in a church ( depends on the Reverb) works for a live recording of 18 channels in with a focus rite 18i20
Can you do a video which shows how you create and record these videos? I’m trying to live stream my mic + guitar with vst effects over a zoom call with my friend 2500 miles away, so i can show him the coolness of Cakewalk and vst plugins. I can make it all come together on my desktop and 2i2 interface lickity split, thanks to you. But, that final leg (streaming with effects, like you did here with the microphone, and presumably OBS is elusive). Please share how you do it.

I have a problem with my microphone recording. When i use wasapi shared, it doesnt let me record. It shows an error and my for some reason, my Microphone sounds bad after i put in in asio mode. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it alot. Thanks 🙏
Well, it's handy for live recording or performing but what about Plugin Delay Compensation for virtual instruments which is realized in FL Studio and Studio One? I mean, for instance, the Performance Samples instruments which have different natural delay (-80, -100 ms)?

Hi Mike! Love your Cakewalk videos and they're viewed daily. HELP! I'm a newbie at audio production but have used a Adobe Audition for simple stuff since 2007. Currently using Cakewalk and taking online classes for audio production. I'm almost done with the basic course, but have a problem with the final exercises. I'm mixing about 16 tracks and a lot have plugins of chorus/reverb/eq. Whether I play them back or try to mix down to a WAV file, I'm getting clicks, pops, static, and dropouts. The audio still plays and I don't get an official pop-up on the screen when it's happening, but I can clearly hear it, i.e., a lead vocal in the middle cuts out or a harmony vocal on the left or right cuts out with static and returns a few seconds later. I have a new HP Envy desktop I got last year using Windows 10. I've tweaked settings for my buffers and have tried to "freeze" tracks and mix down to smaller groups - still have issues. Let me know what tips you recommend so I can get the right settings and have normal function without dropouts. Thanks!
NOTE: I've accessed this file below, done all that it says, but still hear hiss and dropouts during playback even though transport keeps on rolling.

yet another useful video, thanks! I've been a cakewalk user for a number of years and the one thing I have never been able to do is get good electric guitar tones (clean, SRV style, Billy Gibbons (ZZ top) style generic blues tones, you get the idea). TH3 which comes with Cakewalk seems to only do Heavy metal /high gain tones with any kind of credibility. I would love to record directly from my amp, either through a mic or through the speaker sim facility, but sadly my home studio is blighted by a horrible mains hum/buzz which I cannot fully remove using EQ. Any advice would be gratefully received! Maybe even a video on how to make guitar tones for those of us that do not want to record Heavy metal, high gain sounds. I like listening to the heavy stuff sometimes but playing it isn't my thing. cheers.

The delay is still there right? You just don't hear it by turning off the dry signal. Or am i misunderstood?
How do you do the delay one because i don’t see a dry knob on it so it turns my track up when i try to use it on a aux track ?
Thats a good tip, but will only help when recording vocals where signals are clean right? It's not going to work with ampsims.
