It's seven hours before my bed time, and I've only been up for seven hours as a write. Normally I need to be exhausted and have white noise in the background before I can even lay down, then I lay awake for about 45 minutes. Thanks to "Lord of the Rings: Gollum" I can finally feel what it means to take a "nap", something that I can only manage when I'm deathly ill. This game is truly a masterpiece. 10/10, would recommend you try this before you invest in copious quantities of Xanax and black tar heroin to get a full night's rest.
I just can't fathom the thinking behind making this. I can't even imagine diehard LOTR fans wanting a game like this. Already to general audiences, this game has Z E R O appeal or interest. And then atop of that, I feel like EVERYTHING you could have chosen to make a game of in LOTR, you choose.... This. Why. If you wanted content on gollum so bad, then make it a comic or short animated series or something that'll inevitably flop. Not a full fledged game. Good god.

If they followed gollum after he got the ring, then his path to the misty mountain and his decent further into insanity it could've been interesting. Playing as smeagul and watching him go from the hobbit who just killed his sibling(or cousin I don't remember which,) to the insane half naked gollum under a mountain and having to make moral choices throught the game only for any moral choice you make to not matter in the end due to the ring's influence could be cool

I've read everything Tolkien put out, watched damn near every piece of content from thesis of themes of the works, to documentary's on his life. Idk maybe just I think too much about a fandom that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but the man was the father of modern fantasy. There's a certain amount of respect you have to have when dealing with the characters for the fans to accept. You can make new stories in the world and it will be accepted we seen it Alot with the shadows of Mordor with the majority of that being supplemental content. And personally i enjoy that story, not so much the game. But I'm 5 minutes in, and immediately disappointed with the handling of this. Idk, I know it's not that deep, but fuck all if I just hate it.
Don't worry, you're right on the money. It's a classic case of really amateur writing and a lack of understanding of the source material. I think the bird companion is the greatest example of this. Gollum eats birds raw, he doesn't order them around to solve puzzles🤦♂️

The character design of Gollum alone shows how bad this is. So you stylize realism the rest then make the main character look like a cartoon. Makes sense. Two different artistic ideas mixed badly.

I think that's more powerful because now the images are actually embedded into our heads. We'll be talking about this game for years to come lol. Less people would want to buy the game now since news travels inhumanly fast nowadays.

There's not a lot of video games that enable you to play as a wretched, pathetic creature so I would have enjoyed this if it was actually fun.
He’s a great character in the films but in no way would i ever wanna play a full game as him 🤣
I hate Gollum as a person. He’s repulsive, violent, greedy, and pathetic. I think he’s a fantastic character, but I wouldn’t want to play as him in a game for hours on end
I normally don’t buy into negativity around new games, I think a lot of the time it just comes down to people overhyping or over expecting so the game can never live up to what people imagined, but I’m genuinely shocked by how bad this game looks, visually, performance and gameplay wise too, I don’t mind a little jank but jeez!

The character design of Gollum alone shows how bad this is. So you stylize realism the rest then make the main character look like a cartoon. Makes sense. Two different artistic ideas mixed badly.

I had the itch to replay Shadow of Mordor about two weeks ago, fully having no clue this game was coming out, man does that make this game look even worse than it just being a bad game

It really makes me sad to see that daedelic had made such an awful game. In my head I even was defensive, but it is truly awful and boring. I loved so many of their games in the past, especially the point and click games, and it feels like a journey has ended. Can describe this feeling. Had been a good time deadelic.

Deponia was a gem. Rust punk is a very unique genre. I am absolutely crushed Daedaelic screwed the pooch this hard.
This is their first triple a game. They weren’t ready yet. They should have gradually increased their ambitions instead of shooting for Lotr after point and click games.

I have never seen, such a low effort budget cut style game over animation. I only have one question. Why does this even exist? Something isn't right.. maybe some money laundering scheme.

maybe it's lore related but the orcs dont really look like orcs. it's similar to the potato brutes from halo. everything just doesnt look textured enough and you could mistake this for an early xbox 360 game. just terrible.
i hope they get sued for this
