2023, the year I watched 0 Marvel movies at the theater and instead wait for streaming! 2024, and the future, looks to be more of the same. For me, the MCU died with 'Endgame.'

Wish the MCU didn't die with Endgame, but sadly it did. I miss getting hyped up for a Marvel movie an going opening night. Now I can't even care enough to watch em on streaming

Quanimanium had a lot of problems, but I think the part that bugged me the most was the fact that all of the CGI reminded me of Spy Kids movies

It's a trip seeing FX taken so far they look cheap and silly again. I thought it was on purpose in Thor 4, but every Marvel things since then has looked awful. The costumes are worse now too.
The biggest problem is they used a freaking ant man movie as their first movie appearance for their new big bag
@@idawg7332 That didn’t really bother me. I like Ant-Man as a character, but I do think his movies don’t get me quite as hyped as most of the other Avengers members’ movies.

I think it’s because the film is still very good if you take away all the marvel branding from it. Can be a star wars film, james bond film, mission impossible. It’s just a great film, not just a great superhero film
@@Tarriq You're right Tarriq! The first Marvel film I really enjoyed was Iron Man 1 and it helped that I was a fan of the character. I like Iron man a lot more than Captain America but the Winter Soldier movie is just built different than most of the other Marvel films. It had exceptional story and character development.

Pretty sure Bob Iger confirmed Ant-Man Franchise and two others (Eternals and something else, I think Captain Marvel) have had their sequel plans cancelled or put on indefinite hold. Makes all the sense in the world to me

Don’t get me wrong I love Michael Douglas and his character of Hank pym but imo he’s right they should’ve killed of his character because think about it what is there left for the character to realistically do? Also not only it would’ve been a sad death but it would’ve made Kang the conqueror a actual threat because of how smart a character pym is like could you imagine Antman warning the avengers about Kang while also having a revenge type of path with Wasp to end Kang for good.
It’s funny because before going in to see Ant Man 3 I had assumed Hank or somebody else important was gonna die. The trailer fooled us into thinking this was gonna be some emotional high stakes movie since it was possibly the last movie in the trilogy. So now hearing that that’s what he wanted makes it that much worse that it didn’t happen lol. I mean, I say grant him his wish in one of the next Avengers movies, because there’s kind of no need for the character anymore (even though I do like his character).

Not surprised at this. Douglass saw what was happening while shooting the darn film and knew what would happen when it was released. Do not blame him a bit for wanting to kill off. As for the Winter Soldier, I agree it is the best of the lot. It was a straight spy movie that needed no aliens and such to tell a kiss-ass story.
Snarky if you want to watch good Michael Douglas movies I highly recommend you see Disclosure, Don't Say A Word, A Prefect Murder and especially The Game which is one of the best movies ever made and it is a movie you can not recreate the experience the first time you see it.

Captain America the winter soldier truly is the best of the MCU.
I think that most people (myself included) were excited for Antman and the Wasp Quantumania because we saw MODOK in the trailer and were happy to finally be getting him in live action. There was the possibility of AIM making comeback after its one movie stint. Instead, we just got a pile of disappointment which resulted in MODOK dying at the end.

I think the quantum realm stuff was already pretty weird and confusing in the second one which was mid itself. The first one was funny because of Michael Peña's character & the movie itself had good actors in it . The quantum realm was a big part of them going back in time & getting the Infinity Stones and saving people that got snapped away but I don't know what the hell made them think they could do a whole movie about it. That shit was more weird than Multiverse of Madness with all the alien things imo.
i also liked Paul Rudd's inner monologue at the end of the movie , where he started second guessing on whether or not he did the right thing by killing Kang, he said what if he was supposed to get out to stop what is coming, and he asked, did he just kill everyone by not letting Kang get out?
I wonder if William Hurt is still alive out there somewhere hiding from Marvel 🤔
I liked all the Antman movies- I can't understand people complaining about the FX. Douglas just wanted a heroic death for his character.- there is no reason to believe he was down on the movie.

Yeah, Antman is so irrelevant now that Endgame seems like a distant memory considering he was such an integral part of bring people back from the snap.
I never understood why MD was casted in the first place. As you say, he’s a legendary actor and while Marvel had a good run, it never seemed as if his Hank Pam was anything more than a “big star from the past” pander. Given the falling stock of nearly all comic book movies, maybe he’s embarrassed by having taken the part. Giant/Ant Man and the Wasp had some wacky adventures back in the day, but after the first installment, the franchise stumbled and introducing Kang in that film made no sense - but that’s how they roll now.
No worries, Michael. There won't be an Ant-Man 4 :-) And yes, Captain America 2 The Winter Soldier IS the best written Marvel movie! No question there!

Asking to die in a franchise especially one such as marvel is wild, but I do remember Michael saying that a while back because realistically the first antman and the wasp was ass. Doesn’t help they fired the original actor for Cassie who legit grew up in the role and was replaced by someone no one wanted, then you had Johnathan majors get his career fucked because of allegations and Disney of course stood by the accusations. Nothing with this movie succeeded
Captain America 2 is in my Top 4 of the MCU. I loved it.

Tell them the truth, because i was so bored from this movie and i am also disgusted by Marvels agenda, which the pushed and pushed themselves out of the business. Maybe the thought, the were too big to fail, but in the end they did not prevail, all thanks to the M-she-U now the can cry - huhuhu. The clients they had are now gone for good, no company this every do should.

I came so close to walking out of Antman Quantimania also, but I was with my son so I couldn't. I did watch in disgust at the last half hour though. I never felt so disgusted for a movie like I did with that one. Weird moment.

If Marvel had been competent, they probably would have killed Hank off, because you have to have stakes and you have to lose here and there. But as Marvel becomes more about preserving IP, they become reluctant to kill characters off, and they make the stakes silly. One of the best things about Endgame was ... the ending of arcs. It was sad, but satisfying.
2023 was a bad year for marvel I agree but it happens to every studio! No studio is perfect! I’m on to 2024 Deadpool look promising! Xmen 97 is best show on tv! I’m looking ahead and not worrying about what has happened in the past! But I love your perspective as always Snarky 😊 your the best ❤️
Oh you haven't lived until you've walked out of a movie you paid for. I've done it twice! I wish I did it for Last Jedi as well, but that movie didn't shatter my rose-tinted Star Wars glasses immediately. It took half a day to fully process that travesty.

Just like how the guy who played Aquaman he probably knows what I'm talking about because think about it he was Ronin on stargate Atlantis he didn't get any jobs after 10 years.. Nobody wants to stay tied down 21 project they want to do multiple projects so they can build up their reputation to get more money to get more projects the more projects you have the more money you can possibly get from possible franchises.
This sort of statement isn't exactly new. Douglas had said this long before Quantammania and it my guess is that Marvel changed his mind.
snarky , i liked that movie, i liked Jonathan Major's portrayal, i heard that they were going to kill off Scott Lang by having Kang beat the shit out of him and get out of the Quantum Realm, but they changed their minds about killing off Scott for some reason, maybe they thought kids would see the movie and having Ant Man killed in his own movie would be too much for the kids? i don't know, it would have been a badass ending, what part did you walk out on? the second half of the movie had some great moments. especially from Jonathan Majors. i wanted them to keep that actor for Avengers 5. also they had Scott Lang and Hope portrayed by those actors on the Disney Wish cruise ship this past year as a sneak preview of the new Avengers team and they had Sam Wilson as new Cap and Kamala Kahn as Ms Marvel, i really liked the Ms Marvel tv show , so i liked her and her family in the Marvels movie.

Yeah around the time iron man 2 was in production there was an article that Robert Downey Jr. wanted to be killed off that he wanted his contract to end he wanted to do other projects.
Same reason why Jeffrey d Morgan didn't come back on supernatural until close to the final season he just did not want to be tied down to supernatural for years.
I remember even Dave Bautista said the same thanks after guardians of the Galaxy that he wanted to leave after the first film he did not want to be tied down.
Don't get me wrong it's a stable income to have a film production or ATV show production for 10 years or more but it can get boring sometimes. Remember Matthew McConaughey he turned down 13 million dollars for a TV show or film that was gonna last for 5 years he said because he got sick and tired I'm not having stable income in his career. Same reason the actor who played Elliott from ET he never came back after he did the film suicide Kings with Christopher Walken like he said in an interview he bought a farm because he need to put bread on the table he had kids and a wife he couldn't just wait every 5 years to get stable income.

It’s not just that Michael Douglas is also getting old and I’m assuming that a lot of those productions take a long time and he doesn’t want to be a part of all that now I will give you the third Ant-man movie the greatest, but it wasn’t as bad as people say, it is at least in my opinion I think they just ran out of stories to tell or tell decent stories hopefully with this next Phase that’s going to happen. The stories will become more grounded again and that’s what people really want. They want something that is going to touch the feels I just want Marvel to rebound desperately because I am a major marvel fan without a doubt. I really wish they would make a black cat film.
