I needed a purse, bag, or pouch to enter a concert and just found your video, which I used to make my own, and to make it a little more comfortable, I added a shoulder strap. Thank you so much for your time to show how to do it.
Just a pro tip from an upholsterer/custom boot maker... If you spray aerosol silicone spray on your table/sewing machine bed and wipe with a piece of t-shirt your materials that stick will slide, it will last quite awhile also, a quick spray on a rag and wipe down will get you through a small project.
El Michelle , thank you, that is a fantastic idea! Anyone who does paint pours with acrylic will have silicone oil. Just a tiny bit of that will do the same thing I would think, what say you?
@@rendaowe Sure, I don't see why not. I use the spray so its just a thin, easy to spread coat, but I use it for a few things so have it on hand.
El Michelle, Same here, It has so many fantastic uses, I use it for many different things and would not be without, the oil and the spray. Great stuff! I never really would have thought of doing that though. Thanks for that great Idea! Oh hey, Do you have a website by any chance or are you like me and just keep your work personal? 😉
@@rendaowe at the moment have just been selling outright/custom orders but am focused on going online by end of year.
Hi Marine Mama, I’m a MOM, too. Ooh rah!
Loved your video Lauren!!! So many excellent tips and a beautiful finished bag! It's rare that a demonstrator doesn't go on and on about useless info but you never do, you are clear, to the point, fun, very knowledgeable, confident and I could happily watch a video you made all day long! 5 stars, 2 thumbs up from me! Hope to see another project by Lauren soon! Thank you for taking the time to teach us how to make the wonderful project. P.S. Ben is so cute and I enjoyed his debut!
I really appreciate the alternative suggestions like, don't have vinyl? Get a shower curtain, use a beddig set bag, great ideas!
This would be an amazing gift for a bride to give her attendants!!! You could give these to the girls the day of the wedding with the gift of earrings so they all match on your wedding day. OF course use fabric in the colors you've chosen for your wedding!
Hi, lovely clear instructions, thank you and no intrusive music. Thank you so much.
I love this pattern. I just made one in about an hour! I've been working on a very difficult pattern that was kicking my butt and I needed to make something easy and fast to restore my faith in my sewing ability. LOL This was just the ticket. Thanks again for being a mind reader!!!!
I love that you do not waste materials, even when fuzzy cutting you are careful not to waste. I think this one clear carry all is a winner.
7:35 The first rotary cutter was introduced by Olfa in 1979. The guy who sold me my sewing machine showed me a book his mom wrote on quilting right before the rotary cutter was introduced and adopted by quilters and each piece had to be hand cut. 😅
Vanessa Mtz, Yep. Cut the templates out of cardboard or sandpaper; hand cut each & every little piece. I was going to say, probably sometime in the 1980’s, because my first quilting class was 1981, (quilting was just starting to come back in style) and we (students & teacher) had not yet heard about the rotary cutters and acrylic rulers. But as soon as I did, I bought them! That changed everything! Especially the clear rulers, which are a huge help for all kinds of sewing & crafting. Before that, rulers you couldn’t see through. (How archaic, lol. But seriously, so annoying!). And of course, the rotary cutter, so MUCH faster & more accurate (although there was a learning curve to hold it properly while cutting) and I was terrified at first I was going to cut myself, but I never did, am always careful. I still have my original 28 mil Olfa cutter, & then added a Fiskar’s ergonomic 45 mil, and they’re both still going strong - I still use them. Didn’t realize it had been so long, lol! Still have my original acrylic ruler too, although I’ve upgraded those as they’ve improved leaps & bounds, esp. thicker & better markings. Wow, I think I’m officially vintage, lol!😬
Vanessa Mtz ❣️ yes that is what I found too 😊❣️ oh yes we are vintage now like fine wine 😄
@@fludrbywest3886 I think grandma might be a bit younger if she had a rotary cutter, yes it’s not a 1960 invention though I think her grandma would probably laugh, can we interview grandma?
So awesome! This is my new favorite project bag for knitting and crochet! Thanks to the viewer for the tip of using the tissue paper that comes with the vinyl to prevent it from sticking. That worked like a charm! I am going to make so many of these!
Using cut out corners for zipper tabs. Brilliant!
you are by far the most professional.
Super cute and easy. I think I may make one for my granddaughter to use as a lunchbox. Put a cute side handle on it.
I don't have a commercial machine, I sew on a domestic machine, using my teflon foot when sewing vinyl. I will also use tissue paper under my vinyl to keep it from sticking to the bed of my machine.
Love it!
This really works!?! I have a vinyl project I'm getting ready to start, this is good to know!!
Thanks so much for the tip on the corners of leaving thread and pushing it close. What a game changer!
My cat was intrigued by Ben’s chatting. :)
Made this bag in under an hour and I love it, wish I can share the picture of finished bag. love your tutorials and enjoy watching them , thank you!!
I watched you cut and sew in awe. I am a complete newbie sewing bags. Someday I hope to be as good as you. ❤️❤️❤️
Love hearing and seeing your cat Ben. So cute.
A friend of mine will love this. She can’t stand not seeing her stuff. Thanks Lauren
Thanks Lauren! I have that fabric and I love it. I cried a little when you used the precision snips to cut the zipper😩.
What an amazing idea!! I'm going to make several of these this afternoon for my daughter to take to work with her. She teaches at a preschool/daycare center and they will be perfect to put the little ones extra clothes, dry or wet (accidents do happen at daycare😉). So thank you so very much for this quick and very useful tutorial!!
Your video is the first vinyl bag tutorial I've learnt.
I love your simplicity.
I subscribed.
I use the paper that comes with the clear vinyl. I cut 1” w- x(?) the Lg of the zipper or seam I sew . It tears away easily. Love the projects you do. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talents.
Oh.. My.. God.. your iron just lifted itself up on jack stands!! THAT'S SO COOL!!!
Yeah. Never see this kind of iron. Cool.
Thanks for the idea for a simple project. Love the fabric! A helpful tip for working with clear vinyl is to place a piece of tissue paper between the vinyl and the sewing machine and then it just tears away after you sew and it keeps the vinyl from sticking. I use the tissue scraps that come with the interfacing.
This is the first video I watched to get me wanting to sew.
You are the bomb. Can I tell you how long I have been trying to learn about Vinyl and fabric just like this, in general. I make jewelry and like to include some fun stuff but I don't want to dig deep and learn all of it for the few times I use it. I wind up just giving up and never actually making anything. It's a hassle. I have seen countless tutorials and they say "buy vinyl sheets" "get fabric, all types, at stores that sell it" omg. Finally someone said something that I can use and really make something ..Thank youuuuu! Wish I found you first.
I absolutely love, love, love this bag! I crochet and this would make perfect project bags! I will be making lots of them! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Absolutely love, love, love this bag and the tips and tricks!
My first quilting class was an Eleanor Burnes in the early 80's. My first rotary cutter had 2 blades and you adjusted the width between the blades, no rulers used, lol. The 60's....silly girl, lol..
ooh Lauren i knew i liked you from the start, YOU GOT A KITTY! SO PRECIOUS! But gurl, i am TRULY DIGGIN THAT MICHEAL MILLER FABRIC! I went on Amazon to see if i could find it, they didn't have it but i found some more really cool fabric prints of his. but i Love that print you got! it reminds me of one of my favorite artists, Lithenstein.
i design and create canvas tote bags and accessories too.
I love the way you work, it’s so efficient!
Looks like another great project I can do! So excited! Thanks for another great video 💕
I stumbled upon this video and decided to give this project a try I made two today. The first one gave me a few fits with the zipper...so I slightly altered the second one. Fun pattern.
I make close to the same bag,but with material, comic strip newspapers, and packing tape. These materials also make great, colorful wastebaskets.thank you for the video.😉
Your tutorials are AMAZING! Thank you for sharing all your creativity ☺️💕
Another fabulous video. Thank you Lauren and Ben.
Love this!! Already got mine started on the cutting table! Thank you Lauren!
That blue it's mesmerizing. This looks easy enough for me.
This is a great project! Thank you for sharing it with us. I will be making several of these for my quilting friends.
This is exactly what I was looking for thanks. You’re explain it so easy!
Awesome tutorial! You're great at mentioning all the little important things we might forget, and really keep the talking informative without stumbling around and repeating things! That bag is so nice. Thank you for uploading. :)
I'm so glad I found this video. I've made a few full vinyl bags but I love yours more with the material at the bottom. I just bought a large roll of vinyl. Great video.....so easy to follow. Thank you.
How cute is that. I always gravitate towards this style of cosmetic bag (clear vinyl). Thank you for making this tutorial.🙌👏💕
Sew fun! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents with us!
Ooh, Love Comic & Nostalgic Fabrics.
You are extremely talented! Love watching you✂️
Absolutely LOVE your tutorials...you are so easy to follow and so encouraging. Thanks for the ‘Pro’ tips and yes ....you are a pro!
Great instructions! Thanks for showing the process to make a completed project!
Wow! Not only is this a useful ‘On Trend’ project, the tutorial is well made! Your directions are clear, concise, accurate, informative and well-spoken. Your instructions/directions may move a bit quickly for a brand new novice sewer, however you answered every question that popped into my mind. (Novice sewers, just watch it a couple times. There’s LoTS of great info) Your tutorial is the best I’ve watched in a long time.
Thank you for including thickness of the clear vinyl, length of stitch as well as your seam allowances. I wouldn’t have remembered to lengthen my stitch until after I got started... and then I would have perforated the clear vinyl. Also, thank you for not including a long introduction into your ‘life story’ or cheesy music. (Hey Ben, Cool 🐈)
Thank you so much for this tutorial! These are so much fun to make!
I love love this Lauren. Thank you
This is fabulous, Thank you Lauren
OK...LOVE THIS TUTORIAL! I am on my way to my to my sewing room! Thanks so much for sharing this!
Now when I'm done I'm excited to bring it with me to put my groceries in!! They banned plastic grocery bags here in OR...so..yeah!Thank you!!
This is awesome. Iʻm working on a vinyl case to protect my documents from the rain and Iʻm glad I found your tutorial first before going too deep. The pattern I was using wasn't quite right and now I'm going to switch to your version. I love your fabric and colorful zipper too! Thank you sharing this tutorial!
Great job - explaining it so even a beginner can do this! 👍🏼😁

Sew fun! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Love this project! I have a Yamata that I got from Harbor Freight about 14 years ago. Very stong motor and very fast. Your Juki sews so smooth and you seem to be able to control the power and speed so well. I just bought mine to sew covers for outdoor stuff. I wish it performed as well as your Juki....lol...could be the operator, too, though....hehe I did used to sew in garment and drapery factories a long time ago and Ive not sewn with the Yamata in about 10 years. I may need to blow the dust off and give it a whirl. Love your videos. You make everything look so easy. Thank you for sharing. Hugs!
