coming back to this, i love how the camera focuses on the book for a few extra seconds after Maddy closes it which symbolises the end of Maddy and Cassie’s friendship soon enough and Maddy strokes it because she values it so much, and Cassie was too busy buried in her guilt to realise what the friendship meant to her until she actually lost it.

this scene honestly hurts to rewatch seeing as this was the exact peak of maddy and cassie’s friendship and it would come crashing down the very next episode.
God, this show is so well-made. And Nate and Maddy embracing at the end is a fantastic parallel to their scene at the dance in 1x08: The End of the Affair, Part 2.

I'm actually a little surprised at how quickly Nate switched to Cassie, because in the first season he was absolutely not interested in her. he was totally into drama with his dad and obsessed with Maddy and maybe Jules. During the dancing in the last episode, he did not take his eyes off Maddy and even seemed to shed a tear when she said that they were not suitable for each other. And then bam three weeks later he doesn't care about Maddy and he's in love with Cassie, it seems strange to me. Nate doesn 't look like a man who lets go of his exes so easily.
And u forgot that maddy has the tape and could literally end him and his family in any minute she knew but sam is a fool writer
I just love this scene, is priceless. Especially when maddy asks Nate about that. This hit me like a punch everytime. Also, Como La Flor... It's just me being in love with someone who does nothing but give me pain and hurt...
So many young people are going thru this today it's about empathy value and respect that this generation and the future will miss out on

Her character is an outsider. She doesn’t feel confident. Her hiding in the picture represents how she truly feels on the inside ab herself. The creators of the show like to slide details like that in about the characters.
