I LOVE that interpreter, he does his job like he’s supposed to, barely ever changes words, and brings with the interpretation the energy that Charles puts into the original message.
But he did change the meaning (not on purpose I believe). Charles said he did pass the weight in and they took off his belt. The translator did not translate that, infortunately. It was the most important message of the post-fight..
Charles called out the injustice of his belt lost, but the translator said nothing
he didn't translate everything he said, but I understand that memorizing everything he said is difficult. in the part where he talks about the team, he said it was the dude up there (God) who put him there, it would be nice if he had translated that.

Charles Olivera is a perfect example of how a fighter can grow. He lost a bunch when he was younger but trained and worked harder to improve. Now we’re seeing him in his prime. Dude has dominated the top lws so far and finishing them. The run he’s on is legendary

What’s most impressive is that charles fought justin’s kind of fight. Literally toe to toe. Right in his face. Full pressure. This dude used to be just a grappler but his striking is insane now too. I think the cerebral mindset he applied to his bjj translate well to his understanding of striking too.

And he won 3 championship fights in less than a year. Khabib needed 3 years for that.

I think you can excuse some of his early losses, when he probably should have been betting more experience at a smaller promotion rather than fighting guys like Jim Miller, but he lost to Paul Felder a few years ago. I was really impressed with Charles' striking speed, he was so much faster than Gaethje, even the leg kicks, Justin threw them and Charles leg was already up to dodge it.
And he was countering all of them. Justin kept throwing up his arms and looking confused after every leg kick b/c Charles was tagging him every time.
For 3mints hes getting battered by gaethje and kd two times only if gaethjes fighting iq is good he would have won this fight

Look, I wouldn't favor Charles vs Khabib. However, there's something about Charles that makes you just root for him. His poor background, his early career troubles, his dangerously risky fighting style, his politeness, his putting up with this title/scale nonsense, and his undeniable heart in wiping out the most competitive division in MMA. This man is a true legend of the UFC and deserves 100% of the praise without people comparing him to Khabib. Give him his flowers.

I've always loved Charles and I was so worried that the missed weight would effect him negatively but Do Bronx literally used all that as fuel to basically dominate the number 1 contender in Gaethje. I don't care what the rankings say, Charles is my LW champ and has the potential to go down as one of the best Lightweights of all time.

Watching this fight, I just kept thinking of a young Do Bronx. He used to Wilt from the shots he took from Justin but now he's grown as a man and a fighter. He just gets right back up and starts throwing his own going into another finish. It's crazy seeing how far he's come throughout the years
Because back then he was just a BJJ guy seeking out the body lock and trying to chain submission attempts together. He couldn't really stand toe to toe with guys.
