Homemade O-Zone Crash

  • In this video, I tried to make an O-Zone Crash.
    I just drilled some holes in an old crash cymbal that I had laying around.
    I think this project turned out really well. I now have a trashy crash cymbal, the perfect mix between a normal crash cymbal and a china cymbal. :)
    I'm sorry for the bad audio quality, I don't have any extra micophones, so I just used the default camera mic.
    Hope you enjoyed the video!

    If you’ve ever used the hole saws for an impact... you’d never go back to conventional hole saws. It cuts the time and effort down dramatically. They’re amazing.

    I never drill all the way through from one side , it makes a tattered edge on the exit side. Instead, drill halfway from one side then flip the cymbal and start on top. This makes the tatter end up between the top and bottom. Smoothing it is just as easy with a Dremel.

      I tend to drill all the way throw and then use a countersink bit on both sides to smooth it out.

    if you're just using a default camera/laptop/phone mic, try turning the mic sensitivity down. This will eliminate all the sounds that make the audio sound bad, and you'll be left with a much cleaner sound.
    Awesome video.

    Am I crazy, it looks like the hole saw is turning backward. That would take quite a while to make a hole.

      I was thinking/hoping there is a specific reason why he drilled in reverse and not just cause he didn't realise lol

    • @Mart_402
      @Mart_402  Před 6 lety +5

      I drilled in reverse to not damage the cymbal.

      Thats the only way to cut metal with a blade made for cutting Wood. Just like cutting soffit with circular saw, mount the blade backwards

    @jacobparsons546 Před 7 lety +3

    I think the drill goes backwards to not damage the cymbal. like unnecessary chips and cracks.

    Just modified some old cymbals myself, close to the hole pattern you used. Turned out nice.

    I would turn that into a stack. It would sound very quick and washy.
