  • In this short video, I share some thoughts on how my selection of equipment has changed over the years from my early years as a professional some 25+ years ago. This is not a comprehensive video, I was simply inspired to share my thoughts to help people avoid the pitfalls of selecting equipment that really is not a great fit for them, even if everyone else is raving about it. Please like, comment, share, and subscribe, and thanks for watching! Wishing you love and music - Tito

Interesting! I’ve always been told “play the largest mouthpiece that you can”. It wasn’t until recently that I heard “play the smallest mouthpiece you can get away with”, I think from Louis Dowdeswell.

Yes, well understand that there are all different types of players with different preferences, lip shapes, teeth shape, etc. I’ve known lead players who can’t stand small equipment, and I’ve known jazz soloists with round warm sounds that prefer shallower equipment. I would say play the mouthpiece that requires the least energy demand without sacrificing the sound you’re going for. If I have two mouthpieces that sound good, I’ll always choose the one that allows for greater ease and efficiency. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏽

Interesting video. I’ve picked up playing after a stop of 10 years and I will try this. I’ve noticed already (maybe due to the stop) that’s it’s hard for me playing at a low volume.
