As an American I agree with this statement! Most Americans just consume and consume and CONSUME with zero regard to where it is going. Sure we have huge landfills that everyone knows about but they don’t see the big picture. By making America responsible for its garbage it’ll make the citizens wake the hell up. Teach us how to recycle! Americans think recycling means to mix a bunch of cardboard, dirty empty bottles, broken plastic, drink bottles/cans, etc into a large collection container to be sorted later. Not so fun fact- Once it leaves our homes it’s bailed together and sold for cheap.) Give us compost containers (to be picked up every week just like trash) so we can recycle the methane gas.
America as a country needs to come up with a national set of rules for the trash going into the landfill too. They say trash isn’t worth money here but without trash services we would be looking like the slums. We need to recycle! America can get this under control! If poorer counties can step up and clean up the mess so can we! It’s just we need to be told NO by everyone first because we like “convenience.”

Just try to reduce waste and carbon emissions the way you can. You don’t need to bye a new model smartphone every year, or you could use reusable shopping bags, you could walk to small distance, you could recycle, and there are so many things you could do without having to change your lifestyle completely. I understand even if the world is to be completely obliterated it won’t happen within our lifetime so people don’t care much but still if there is any chance that you could help save the planet for future generations, let’s put some effort.

邵润泽 I hope you understand how much our mockingbird mainstream media colluded and assisted the top tier communist/globalist entities who support statist totalitarian ideologies, within our own executive administration, via the Intelligence Agencies. The U.S. media has for many decades, gradually shrugged off any pretense of real investigative reporting, and the few who remain true to trying to defend and seek truth and freedom of the press, are often unrewarded, shunned and forced to go it alone, often ridiculed and "dirtied up" by our IA's, when they get too close to the truth, or refuse to back off. Our country has been running a fake two party choice in presidential elections, never actually giving the people a candidate of their own choosing, but choosing the two CIA affiliates, assets, i.e., the Bush family, with close alliances with their beloved Clintons, who embraced the Obamas, all had ties to CIA, as did their parents, grandparents. Trump won despite all their massive attempts to buy and thwart his campaign, which is why they had to have the "insurance policy" in the million to one chance he got elected despite throwing billions into Hillary's campaign, rigging the system, sending plants and spies in to create the illusion of conspiracy for impeachment if he should win. Anyone who claims our media is a propaganda machine, yet buys their complicit role in the biggest attempted coup and scandal in our history, is a huge hypocrite, and double minded idiot. The media has joined with the globalists, CFR, enemies of our Constitution and freedoms, national sovereignty, years ago, and is the praetorian guard. If you really believe our media is spewing propaganda, then you voted for the man whom the media told you was evil, bad, our enemy and a Putin puppet. If not, you are just a useful idiot, blinded by your cognitive dissonance and brain washed, gullible. Get out of their CIA Mockingbird matrix.

The company I work for is closely connected to one of the largest facilities to manufacture cement in Europe. Cement production consumes insane amounts of energy at a level where the lights flicker whenever they switch the large machines on and off (it strains the local grid's capability to compensate). As it turns out, they generate 60% of their profits by burning trash to produce more than half of the energy onsite (with extensive filtration; they are very clean at it). They basically make a profit before selling anything at all.
Since they also sell some of the by-products, the company is producing so cheaply that it's impossible to compete with them on a national level and to an extent even across the borders. The facilities and machines are also so insanely expensive that nobody dares to put up that kind of investment. They are very close to a monopoly and don't rly have much innovation going on as a result.

Cemex. Though they didn't build the thing up from the ground. The basic system for repurposing trash was set up decades ago in a less refined form. The plant itself has seen different owners over time and a number of very costly modernizations took place. It's heavily automated, too.
The cement industry itself isn't too profitable overall and even the big players seem to run into financial troubles quite frequently. I wouldn't be surprised, if the facility switches owners again at some point. The people that work there have seen them come and go, but the facility always found a bidder.

Dante X I hope you understand how much our mockingbird mainstream media colluded and assisted the top tier communist/globalist entities who support statist totalitarian ideologies, within our own executive administration, via the Intelligence Agencies. The U.S. media has for many decades, gradually shrugged off any pretense of real investigative reporting, and the few who remain true to trying to defend and seek truth and freedom of the press, are often unrewarded, shunned and forced to go it alone, often ridiculed and "dirtied up" by our IA's, when they get too close to the truth, or refuse to back off.

I have a solution (for the plastic all other recyclable are screwed) you manufacture a ton of airtight metal spheres/cubes/cylinders fill them with plastic vacuum seal the plastic filled spheres then heat them causing pyrolysis which will produce new smaller polymers like short-chain hydrocarbons which can be used a carbon-neutral fuel in internal combustion engines or be used to reform long hydrocarbons (i.e plastic). This could also be slightly modified to accommodate cellulose/lignin so fibrous plant waste/paper could be recycled into something other than more paper.

Hello from Denmark. We are burning our trash for electricity, heat, and hot water.
Since the process produces all of that, we simply use all of that.
We are importing trash to keep our burners going. This is a future problem when we no longer produces enough trash. But for the moment we are earning money on trash, converting that into "green energy" because we are that good to recycle then we are left with 0 landfills, and our trash being burned are overall non-recyclables.

Want a simple, but hard solution to all the plastic trash? Put eco fee's on it, and make stores apply it to the shelf price. People are fairly predictable, and don't change all the much. If a shopper see's the same product in a tin\glass\aluminum package and it's cheaper then plastic, that's what they will buy most of the time.
On the topic of disposable bags, reusable bags aren't always the better solution. Most reusable bags need to be used well over 100+ times before they break even. I'm not saying don't use them, just keep in mind how much they need to be used.
It's not going to be easy, but we need to use the human condition to our advantage rather then fighting against it. Consumers are going to buy the cheaper product, and that's not going to change.

Apply the eco fee to the trash when it comes in. Use the fee to is subsidized the recycling of the materials. Of course this fee could also be supplied to the countries that are recycling the stuff they are sending us. If not, the money could go to the countries or places that will do the recycling. Of course, for ethical reasons, the recycling should be policed so that it follows social and environmental standards.
