the weirdest part about gwsn’s situation to me id that the better they do, the less their company seems to care about them. their recent comeback like u said had their highest preorders ever and 2nd highest sales? its their 2nd most liked MV after less than a year and yet suddenly now is when their management doesn’t promote or care for them?

I really think they should capitalize on miya’s popularity more. Send her to variety shows, cast her on dramas and web-dramas even just as a side character. It worked on Astro’s Eunwoo, and Ex April’s Naeun. Considering that Miya’s style is androgynous and unconventional (one might say), people will easily eat that up which can give the group popularity.
Miya is also an amazing dancer and I feel like she gets lost on their choreos

Yeah her look definitely stands out comapred to the general female idol look, it would be easier to market her to get more interest in the group
The worst thing is that Ascendio is a film company that makes movies and dramas. And miya is an ACTRESS they are wasting so much potential on her and the group.
What sucks too is that they literally have a pristine discography it’s not like the group’s tanking for having no interest or bad voices or bad music. They have what it takes to be big, this is ENTIRELY the company’s fault.
Indeed, most of their B-sides are even really good, while most other BIG kpop groups still have shitty B-sides just like 90's and 00's musicians from the west

FACTS! You not only have good title tracks, but they have some of the BEST b-sides in all of Kpop. Black Hole, Aerialist, Tweaks, Night Aviation... even the b-side dedicated to the fanbase Growing... for Groo is amazing! Yeah GWSN should be way bigger than what they are.
It's sad because we as fans think "I'll buy the album to support them" but then the staff is not being paid, the producers are not being paid and the girls probably arent seeing the money either. It is really frustrating... I am really hoping they can get through it somehow since GWSN is my fav active(?) group, but its been harder and harder these times.
And no, hybe acquiring the company wont help,idk why so many people say that they want hybe to buy their company. Source music is about to debut a new girl group, which they spent a lot of money on, they wont want to manage another one.
idk, to me, HYBE acquiring companies seems a little sus to me, mainly because, I feel like some groups aren't getting like proper promotions even though they are under one of the biggest entertainment companies in SK. and then like, they are random disbandment for groups like NU'EAST and GFRIEND even though these two groups had so much potential. It's like HYBE are gaining these companies then disband groups as a soft reboot and use it to promote newer groups that they can control.
If HYBE acquired rights to GWSN, then I feel that HYBE would probably entirely change GWSN'S concept or smth like that, idk HYPE seems sus.

Yeah hybe cannot be a go-to “safe house.” It’s not this weird savior company who is gunna rescue every poorly managed company/group and even then it’s still the company that makes the decisions but now under a larger one. Plus it would just become one boring monopoly which it’s already starting to be. Hybe is good with its own organic groups BTS, TXT, and I’ll include Enhypen too since it’s been related to hybe/Bighit since the beginning even though many want to exclude them. I assume they’ll do well with lesserafim too but I can’t say anything about the rest. Svt is still going well bc they have a solid fan base and have not yet reached the ends of their contract. But if we see a sudden disbandment of then within the next year, then we have an answer.

I remember the excitement around the debut of this group.
Something that really concerns me is if the staff isn't being paid, I doubt the group is getting ANYTHING as the artist is normally the last paid. This could also mean limiting on money for housing, and food.

Honestly as a Pre-Debut Groo, this whole situation is so upsetting... Their debut was so strong and the two combacks under Kiwi Pop were decently well funded and promoted... yet then Kiwi Pop changed to Miles and things weren't as great... then finally the change to The Wave Music brought hell upon groodom as we learned what it was like to truly stan a mismanaged group... ngl I miss Kiwipop

I only started really listening to GWSN with their most recent comeback, I went and listened to their entire discography and now I'm obsessed. I don't want to see anything bad happen to this group, they're really so talented and are making such unique music. "I Can't Breathe" is the song that first drew me in - specifically Miya's fancams during their promotions for that song - but all the members are so incredibly gifted. You can bet that if the producers aren't getting paid, the girls probably aren't either - they're putting their whole heart into this for probably no money at all. I wish they were with a better company.
Unfortunately bad stuff already happened to them but yeah I don’t want things to turn out even more worse than they already are.

If they have a comeback, you can almost count on my stanning them. It’s just like these gg’s (fromis_9, wjsn, gwsn, brave girls, etc) I don’t stan bc they never rlly like proved themselves to me. But then sometimes I go back and re-listen and I’m like damn that’s actually pretty good. Im also more of boy group stan than a girl group but I do stan like a good 50-60 girl groups.

I remember when they debuted they totally fit an aesthetic I was searching for and ALL literally EVERY SINGLE one of their tracks are pure production quality gold 😭😭😭 Their park in the night trilogy was so strong and I will always support them but why can’t their company just show some small amount of care for them?? There is so so much potential here that’s slowly wasting away :(( I love them so much and watching them kinda deteriorate is absolutely heart-wrenching. :(

The members are unique and talented people, and there are also starlists who coordinate to suit each person, and I think the songs are wonderful. After all, I think that the lack of motivation of the office and poor promotion are the reasons why it does not work.
Even if you keep moving after your debut, the life of an idol is short. I think the offices that can't make the most of their talents are doing something wrong.
I've managed to get an album that's out of print now, and I'm working hard to make money for them.
After IZONE's disbandment, I'd be devastated if GWSN disbanded too. I love the elegant concepts that these 2 groups pull off because the entire market is so oversaturated with girl crush and bubblegum pop right now, with huge emphasis on the former. Especially with a B-side bop like Yolowa, their discography is a whole gem.

What's after like?
I absolutely love GWSN, I've been following their music since their debut. I really believe all the name changes of the company are to either 1) dodge taxes or 2) the company is a front for something else. I swear it seems like all you need to open an entertainment company in Korea is a toothpick and some bubblegum, it makes no sense.
It is the same with their tech company and home renovation contractor company from my experience working with them for several months. Their tech company usually start small watermark based budget and start up a company then make a deal with China factory to make cheap products, but they will exaggerate their products to attract those gullible investors usually some retirees or rich but clueless son to invest on their "surely profitable products" and then run away with the cash. For renovation contractor company is common to encounter scam which is shockingly 70% of the time, they usually demand 50% deposit before they even have yet to start hacking and drilling your new home and then ran off with your desposit closed the company and open new one somewhere else with new company name. Kpop companies are no different small or big, they are sketchy to the extend. SM ent had try to dodge taxes many times during their operation and their scandals on that is nothing new already. Small kpop companies are hard to track because they have little to none of track records and no-one cares. The government also are not that firm to put laws and controls onto these shady practices by company which exploiting child labor, locking them into contract, debt, etc... Seem like actors company is more legit than kpop company because their contract were review by the flim association most of the time

I'm so glad you're making a video about them, they are a perfect example of their company mismanaging them, because they're pulling the numbers, especially on their instagram, like Miya gets like 30-40k likes on her posts, and their music is unique and pretty easily digestible, but their company has no idea what to do with them, so i'm excited to see what you have to say. :)

When I first saw their concert in Dallas, Texas back in 2018, they've been my top favorite group ever since. I'm really glad you're covering this! I just cant understand how a group with a fantastic comeback and a great discography get little to no promotion afterwards due to management. The group deserve so much better.

I discovered GWSN with Like It Hot but it's their b-side I Can't Breathe that completely sucked me in. Seriously, it's so good. I've always felt like they were a little unpopular, so it was a good surprise to learn with this video that they have many fans. It was not a good surprise to learn the actual reason for worry :/
I love billlie too and I've definitely noticed some similarities in the concepts/aesthetics and even the sound, I didn't know the producer went to mystic story, that made a lot of sense! It's horrible they weren't paid when working for GWSN's company.

If you take nothing else away from this video, realize that fan support is not enough to keep groups going. If they have a bad company that can't promote them (or refuses to, in the case of GWSN), they're going to fail. It drives me crazy when people say groups don't last cause they don't have enough fans or that they weren't talented enough (which... you know what, let me keep that thought to myself) when the reality is the company isn't putting any money into them. You can have the best everything, but if your company isn't promoting you, it doesn't fucking matter.
For example, LABOUM's Journey to Atlantis went viral a few months after Rollin' did (which I was v excited about because a) Journey to Atlantis is a fun song and b) LABOUM is a group I've been rooting for since forever), but their company did absolutely nothing to take advantage. And, as a result, the shit went nowhere.
It's not enough to have a big fan base; you have to have a company worth a damn.
I feel so bad for Gwsn and all the staff members. They all work so hard and aren’t getting what they deserve. I liked Gwsn since their debut and I believe they are really underrated. They deserve more attention and they have really good songs! The concepts are also interesting and they have a unique sound. Idk why their company doesn’t want to promote them. They have potential to be big!

I've literally been a kpop stan since snsd and i just wanna say that 4th gen groups are a hit or miss, its so hard to find groups with nice discographies, songs that are an easy listen and somehow catchy beats, gwsn provides all those qualities in every single one of their songs.
they definitely have the best discographies among 4th gen. it’s sad more people don’t listen more. unfortunately this always happens, groups from the big 3 will have more popular songs even if the songs aren’t that good :(
They should really use miya popularity to their advantage like if they promote Miya to like variety shows and become mc for mcountdown etc etc. they will become super popular especially with miya androgynous style and look it's different in kpop so if they push miya to variety shows to promote GWSN i think it would be good for them.

It's crazy because compared to other groups that you have talked about, they are super small and have a small fan base, but the fans are there and they have shown support, but the company seems to be undermining how big GWSN are and how much more they could be. They also stopped producing their older albums as well, TOSOTM is harder to find now too, so how can fans support them if they have nothing to sell?

Ever since becoming a kpop Stan I've learnt so much about the importance of marketing and promotions as well as album sales and the industry treatment towards idols as whole... From companies mistreating and letting down their groups because they did not put in the effort to promote them the way they deserve to be... I got into Gwsn when I got an ad for Bazooka and I was hooked then they disappeared for a while and when Like It Hot came out, I expected the song to do much better then it did, I was waiting to see it on studio choom and several shows that they did not get to go on and I honestly hate when this happens. These women work hard they are talented and so sweet I want them to have the recognition they deserve, I'm really fed up with the mistreatment of idols I wish we could do more but asking questions and trending their names really do help, I'm really glad I came across this video.
i have been a fan of this group since pre-debut and their songs have always been top tier. I literally don't give a shit about music video production value i just want their company executives to get it together and make some strategies. Also I wonder if miya ever got paid for designing the album covers... This group is so skilled that if they had resources and no existing contracts they could pretty much produce albums themselves. Wonderboy, Black out, Kind of cool, Yolowa and Melting point are some of my favorite b-sides. They provoke some feels that no other group has. Their discogreaphy is truly top tier.

There is a big movement of trying to be back GWSN on a stage on twitter in Japan though it absolutely doesn’t work. As you know, The wave music, GWSN belongs to a management company, have not issued any proclamations after the come back with Like it hot in May 2021. Official twitter is barely still posted but they are posted their selfies only once a week on average. Save GWSN🌳Keep watching🌳

there's something i want say regarding han jungsu and this is no hate to billlie, but i think it really is low of him to practically copy and paste the lore he worked so hard on for gwsn for billlie with barely any changes. it disables gwsn from even continuing down that road, yes he made it but just sucks that things that were synonymous for gwsn like their interesting and long song titles are no longer for them. also in their albums there were things connected to lore etc but it was all gone in the other side of the moon. I just hope people stop comparing the two groups now they know this history since its very bittersweet haha
omgggg gwsn is my fave like since i discovered the keys album and wonderboy (aerialist) is the bop! i thought everything okay since their ig still active, lena was in uniform cf, miya got endorse, etc. but i never know their company is totaly upsetting :(
Gwsn are one of my ults and I truly pains me to see the miss management of the girls, their music is genuinely some of the best of 4th gen. What I think is that they need to put effort into promoting gwsn on variety shows and channels like studio choom. Promoting them on interview channels, things like "showterview" ect. But who knows if those things will even happen because the company seem to not really care at all. They are all so young and have so much potential they deserve a real chance at what they have put so much work into.

I knew there was a reason I felt Billlie was familiar. That actually kind of sucks because GWSN really did have a distinct image and some really good songs, unfortunately people tend to forget that that every industry has a business to it and that clearly was the change here. I really hope people don’t just amount this change to just “blame the new girl group” like it’s literally a business room situation. This is a common thing that happens in most music industry across the world, with that being said the company just didn’t try to fill that hole and are the only ones responsible for GWSN’s decent. Hopefully, they can find a way because they’ve shown they’re capable to grabbing attention.

Thank you so much for this video, I discovered gwsn during bazooka era and became a fan, but fell off when they stopped putting english subs on their youtube vids. (I would do anything for subtitles on their videos again I genuinely enjoyed them so much) Blew my mind when in Like It Hot there was a whole other member that just hadn't been mentioned. Hope the company steps up or the girls can start other projects we can support them on.
When I tell you pinky star was one of my top listened songs of 2021….it’s amazing, the fact that their company isn’t using this amazing music well to promote is ridiculous.

Thank you especially for going in depth about Soso's hiatus, the Like It Hot promotional/album/inclusion/printing issues, the staff payment issues, etc because I feel a lot of people who have heard of #savegwsn don't actually know these details. I've been a groo from debut and it's been devastating seeing how promotions and management have declined drastically over time, and Ive honestly lost hope at them becoming bigger at this point I just want them to be active and happy :(((

I’ve been a groo for a year and it just makes me so sad to know that it’s not even because they lack fans or support, it’s because of their company. I’m trying to stay positive and not let it affect me but I really wish we could make a big impact so that the company AT LEAST becomes more open about the situation and communicate more with us. These girls are so passionate, they are literally like sunshine, they bring happiness in so many peoples lives, they deserve SO much better than that. When companies file bankruptcy usual the company will either find a new company to take on their assets or the old business creates a new business or subsidiary to move assets over from latter so they don’t get confused during the liquidation of the old company. Also you need a lot more money than what they raised even if it was just for their well being or to pay off debts from production and management of the girls.
I discovered GWSN in 2020 on the day they released Bazooka, and to this day its my favourite song of all time. Imagined how I felt when I discovered just how terrible their company was :(

Such a sad situation. This group needs to be acquired by a subsidiary of a big entertainment company. They simply need funds. They got 2 top tier legitimate vocalists in KPOP, a chick magnet, difficult but pleasing to the eye choreo and criminally underrated discography.
Well that’s the thing, they are connected to HUGE companies with a lot of money. So why is no money going to them
@@jihoonscarat they had big budget MV's and stages till Red Sun tho. Honestly, I think the guy who started the group had a great vision but piss poor execution and made poor decisions along the way.
After digging in a bit, he seems to be more of a creative director than a someone you can trust to make smart CEO decisions. That, or this whole thing could be an elaborate money laundering scheme.
Just frustrated as hell cuz this group had crazy potential!

I think that especially when you’re a small company the fans should be the closest to you. I don’t get why so many artists and companies go completely MIA when they have problems instead of informing the fans maybe they can even help. Like just tell us what you need or what your problem is and we can find a solution. Every GWSN member is so talented and it’s quite rare seeing them getting involved in their own releases like that. We saw so many groups go down bc of the lack of infos and desperately waiting fans for updates but it never came. Why can’t at least one company do it right? 😭 maybe they can go busking again or upload more yt videos, I don’t want to see them not get what they deserve

I really wish MNet had done "Road to Queendom 2"-GWSN and several that MNet scr3ew33d over like FANATICS, Cherry Bullet, Natvre, probably Natty as a soloist [in "Idol School", "SIXTEEN"], as well as larger groups like Weki Meki, , maybe a 2 member CLC sub-unit since all but 3 are gone and Yujin is temporarily in Kep1er (doubtful, I know...), Everglow (since they're unknown in Korea), Dreamcatcher (since they don't have a win yet, somehow), Weeekly, Lightsum, Billlie, etc. could have really used it. I don't know why MNet opted out of it this year (probably because the ratings from the boys' RTK version weren't good?), but in order to cleanse their reputation and bring goodwill from viewers, it would have been smart for this reason.

I've casually listened and followed this group through the years. It makes me so sad to see them in the position and state they are currently in. I can tell they love doing what they do and they really work so hard. Their discography is so solid and the art for their albums is always so stunning. This group doesn't seem like one a company should give up on. They are passionate and so are the fans. I really hope that they can get the help they need and that Groos get answers.
If the company didn't even pay the producer I'm sure they didn't even pay the idols :( I feel so bad for them, they're being extremely mismanaged :(

I wished they actually went to queendom 2 it would help out so much like SO MUCH even though it’s ment but still getting into a show where so many people are watching sense the first queendom it’s helping even groups like wjsn who is on the show getting more people into them loona too with even their fandom being bigger than others internationally it can help them gain more in Korea as well this show could of helped gwsn BUTT noOo it’s that stupid “having to have at least one win” rule I heard they had or something like that and it’s SUCKS because groups like gwsn, Billie, purple kiss groups who are rookies could of been on this show to show that they have it and giving it all

i don’t know much about gwsn besides what was said in this video, so if i’m misunderstanding let me know, but a big part of me wonders where the money for their comebacks is going. with so many unexpected sales for albums and a comeback fully funded by fans, it can’t all have gone to covering previous costs right? especially if the staff, producers, and most likely members aren’t being paid.. the only person left is the ceo. what the hell is this guy doing with their money?

No but like there has to be something about gathering funds on makestar, like something fans don't know about, which makes the whole process less appealing for companies.
Because like, if it was actually as good as it seems, wouldn't every group use makestar and have multiple comebacks a year. Even nugu groups like S.I.S were able to get all the money they needed in one day. So why don't companies use it.
Lately, if a groups hadnt had a comeback in a while, I just start spamming their comment sections with makestar. I had to wrote like 100 comments to MAKA MAKA by now xd

I lately see so many of these save #'s. Besides GWSN, I also saw them a lot with groups like HOT ISSUE & G-REYISH... the nugu girl groups are not doing so well receantly, I fear.
