I remember Mike kill all and freedom but not springtrap being called Salvage. Why did they call him that though?
@@DOUDA6I think I remember springtrap being called Salvage; It was based on the parts box trailer, where people thought that Springtrap would be an amalgamation of the animatronics from the last two games all melded into one
@@casualtrainwreck7520 thx

Eh tbh he should have milked it, the franchise ran out of steam fucking quickly.
@@samueljones3668 my guy, Scott launched 4 games in less than a year, then we got Sister Location, World (World's cannon, fight me about it), Pizzeria Simulator, UCN, an entire saga of books and then Scott sold the franchise to Steel Wool which eventually created Fnaf Help Wanted, Help Wanted's DLC, Security Breach and the DLC for Security Breach, Scott singlehandedly kept the community in hype for over 5 years and got enough money to retire with a total of 10 games, 2 DLCs and a saga of books, if that's not milking the saga Idk what it is
i understand your point, but i think samuel was just talking about the first 4@@xd-xt2cn
I never understood the backlash behind FnaF World. I always thought of it as the cutesy RPG parallel to the horror focused main games. It made me feel bad for Scott when he said he really enjoyed making RPGs and I was sad that the first time he tried to make one with his name out there, it was hated on to the point of being ignored and relegated to being another website for teasers, even if it was really cool that Scott used the website like that.
Yeah. While I see how FNaF World was flawed, I still love it to this day. It is like, the only instance where you can play with the Characters without almosty dying, too.
In that sense, it kinda makes me want to see more of that side. We only ever see the animatronics doing scary things, but we have never seen the actual characters. Like, the in-world characters, the unpossessed and unbuggy ones.
I feel like the hate was largely manufactured, secondhand smoke from Scott's own dissatisfaction with it. Never met a fan who hated it, personally
Yeah it wasn't really hated after Scott fixed it and released it on gamejolt. Scott was the one who was extremely vocal about how terrible he thought it was.
I really enjoyed my playthrough of fnaf world lol
fnaf world was my favourite tbh, the music went unbelievably hard
Scott making a fourth game just because the jumpscare in the third game sucked really shows how passionate for his community he was. I really do miss him.

Id eat scott tbh. Idk the blue energy looks edible
Really makes me realize that these teasers are what is really really missing from modern fnaf. They hyped up the game, contained lore and were great attention buildiers. It was such a great time when these teasers were coming out
what's also missing from the modern games is..well just about everything from the original fnaf
at this point the series has deviated so much from what it was that freddy in space isn't even a joke
even if they brought back the teasers, i doubt they would work
hype worked because the final product could keep up to it
Yeah, I miss the days
Hype because it still had a story to tell. Now it's just milking the fnaf name
we're also missing the stupid unsolvable lore that most of us loved.
steel wool made the crucial mistake of being _reasonable_ (cringe) and not leaving any loose ends or unsolved questions in FNAF SB.
scott almost never did that {until FFPS} and left a lot of unsolved mysteries. for example, we still don't know what was in the box.
I like to think that Scott always wanted to stick to the release dates, but was always genuinely just so excited to release the games every time he finished them so he just dropped them the moment he was done 😂

His style was still present in the first Security Breach trailer, the way the animatronics boot up, moving stiffly like, well, animatronics and their red eyes piercing through darkness; the static bright text between cuts, etc... I still wish we could see, what the "real" Security Breach would have been like.
sadly the game is rushed because of fans didnt like delays. and worst part is. Playstation rushing steelwool, a small company that is creating a big game got rushed by playstation for wanting it to release on christmas and for state of play thing for 2021

I love how Scott handled criticism. Instead of letting it get to him, Scott actually improves his work substantially. Just as how they called Chipper ‘creepy’ that led to him developing FNAF 1 and the community not happy about Springtrap’s jumpscare leading to FNAF 4
i genuinely hope the people that called chipper creepy’s pillows are always cold on both sides and get a huge smooch from their crushes
It was shockingly easy for Scott to develop sequels. The programming is very simple to modify, reducing sequel development to just some texture swaps. It's also why fangames were so common
He also even said that he's willing to fund these fan games
it's not that it's just down to texture swap. it's just that he already had a clear idea of how to do things after the first game and the mechanics aren't that complicated. If I were scott, I'd probably restart from scratch for each game because I feel like it would get confusing having to change everything (renaming existing stuff, changing the camera layout and animatronic behaviour, etc...)
Since he knew what to do, he didn't spend much time thinking about how to optimize things better, which most likely saved a lot of time.
The one thing that must've taken a long time were the 3D models. Those look like they took a while to model and texture. I truly admire his dedication. (I'm thinking mostly about fnaf 2, 3 and 4. Fnaf 1 animatronics were pretty simple in design)
@@u731his creativity is impressive, like, really.

Agreed the goat
That’s why his the Goat
And best part is the fact that he actually respects fnaf fans and fangame developers
to me he is the best indie developer ever. The way he is connected to the fanbase, the way he supports other creators like in the fanverse. I never heard of any other big company supporting fangames with their own money, they just take them down or something like that. Although the fanverse had some controversy it was never from scott himself, it was just some greedy people... He is not perfect, none of us are, but he sure tried to be his best to the community.
@@Daiyamaruu Scott Cawthorn really left a impact on 6 Yr old brains, to the fact that a lot of us looks up to him. I hope Steel Wool continues Scott's legacy... Hopefully?...

I remember these mainly cause you knew Scott was just going to release the whole game like a week later because he didn’t feel like waiting until the actual release date.
It's still crazy to me that this man made like five games in the span of a year.
Having to be around to witness FNAF's birth all the way to Scott's retirement almost 10 years later really made me feel a bit old but also special. I was around when only small bits of the lore was present and many fantheories were treated as canon like William being called Vincent cuz nobody knew his real name and that he really loves toast. Or that Springtrap is actually a good guy and his jumpscare says ,,help me" ,,forgive me" or that the phantoms are to warn you of him. Heck even those old animations were good and nostalgic. I miss the era of the first three games when there was no fourth game yet
7:37 The 'hybrid' / Salvage theory was kind of important back in the day. No one knew what Springtrap was or even his name at this point. The teaser with the animatronic parts with it's text of "what can we use?" made many people theorise that the new tattered looking animatronic was made of scrap pieces (kind of like Ennard or better yet Scrap Baby) and fans were calling it Salvage.
Edit: Are you happy? I fixed Ennard's name
haha i remember thinking that and making my own drawings of it
I still stand by the fact that Salvage would be a great name for an Animatronic
E m m e r d
I remember my friends & I thinking that Salvage sounded way cooler than Springtrap lol
I believe Markiplier kind of made this more present in his playthrough saying something along the lines of "it takes this from bonnie and this from foxy"
The biggest part of what made fnaf so pervasive was scotts unending persistence. The sheer speed that he was able to make these games really kept the momentum the first game had, and kept the theory community alive and fresh, which itself kept the game itself alive in a self feeding loop. Very smart marketing mixed with an unbelieveable work ethic
Mhm, I am glad he slowed things down though. Maintaining that work rate must have been hell

I only have relatively surface knowledge of FNAF, and I've only played the first game and not past night 3. I am absolute flabbergasted hearing that all 4 of the first 4 games were released WITHIN ONE YEAR??? That is INSANE to me, Scott could have waited and brought the hype up and let people theorize like crazy, but was like, nah, release it now. And honestly respect for that!!
I remember being addicted to the lore of this series, watching videos of people tear apart absolutely every detail of every game or teaser image.
My interest mainly died out after FNAF4, but it had been waning since after 3.
I never knew that message from Scott existed, but it brings a smile to my face hearing it read.
FNAF was made for all of us, the community. Made for us to play and enjoy, but to also rip to absolute shreds, and we looked everywhere for the story.
In my eyes, FNAF Sim is the end of the series. Everyone, and everything just burned to a crisp, and left to be forgotten.
It wasn't just the deep lore and gameplay that made everyone love FNAF so much, it was also Scott. He turned everything into a game, allowing the community to always be active!
He put as much thought into the community, as he did the games.
FNAF wasn't a series, it was a multi-year event. That games were just a part of it, like games at a carnival. Sure, you can play the games whenever, but they'll never have that same feeling they once did.
FNAF will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you Scott, for making my childhood, just like so many other Scott's now that I think about it.
The series's mess of a story will definitely always give it a deep and convoluted community of theorists - it got rewritten quite a few times between the games. In the original storyline, the Crying Child was the Puppet, the Bite of '87 wasn't real by the time FNaF 4 came out (it became '82 and then '83), and Shadow Freddy is speculated to represent the yellow suit used to lure the children, before the original Bonnie counterpart to Fredbear was conceptualized. Now we have all these old, outdated pieces of lore, storylines that don't line up, making an even more confusing and unsolvable mess of a series - but it's still got its good aspects. Unfortunately it has moved on from that, without haunting or teasers or major community interactions anymore, but the community itself and the history of what those original games did - truly original games, both in the series and in gaming as a whole - will remain.
@@ultmateragnarok8376 Yeah, the story is definitely a complete mess!
FNAF 4 originally revealed that everything was just a dream, but since the community hated that so much, Scott had to throw that out, and then somehow rewrite the story so 4 takes place in the same universe as all the others.
I wish Scott would come out and reveal the true story or stories of the games, cause like you said, so many remnants of old stories just don't add up anymore, making an unsolvable puzzle.
@@Valcuda He did some good parts to that with SL (the Nightmares are stored down there, as much as some people instead want to think that the facility is under a house instead), and much of the original story - what little there is in those earlier games, at least - is known now, by simply looking at it without the knowledge of how future games reshaped things. I do really agree that he should've come clean about the sheer number of retcons, though.
I missed the part where he retired, that explains so much. Honestly though, he gave everyone a beautiful series. The teasers are definitely what we all miss, but that man deserves a rest after making like 10 video games in less than 10 years and almost every single one being new and interesting. The flaws helped me teach myself how to creatively critique something and ask "how would I have done it?" and helped me become more creative over time. This makes me just way more excited for Fnaf + so I can see any potential scott might've been missing become a reality.
Scott Cawthon is a really great man.
A devout Christian, who struggled to make ends meet.
He made his first game while working at Target and Dollar General.
Apparently it was shit on by game journos, which basically spiralled him into depression along with a crisis of faith, untill he took advantage of it and made FNAF
He sounds like a really chill guy. I wish I could meet him
19:57 fourty empty "triangles"
FNAF 3 & 4 teaser trailers were the most hype thing at the time. I miss those days sometimes
all of the readers were hype and nostalgia filled and still are
Scott's drive to make games and with that amount of quality in a short amount of time always surprised me
Scott trolling everyone just for the fun of it really shows how much of an amazing and lighthearted game developer he is, much a like a father making jokes to nearly every fan in the community. I remember being so upset and sad back then when the fourth game was the "last game" for the FNaF franchise only for me and my friends to rejoice once FNaF world and SL was released. The 2010s era of FNaF hype was really a nostalgic bliss.
25:52 so long Scott🫡
I’ll never forget the hype of checking Scott games and seeing a new teaser. This really was a special time in the franchise.
Scott was so successful to the point where he shaped indie horror games so he was a great developer
man i ignored this video for a while cause i just didn't have time to watch or just cause i tought it was a little boring like every other fnaf video since i watched most of the famous fnaf Lore video's i tought it was one of those but today, i got in youtube, found it, decided i had to watch it and it got me so much in the story that when you read out loud the retiring message of scott i almost cried, the day i read it myself i didn't really did to much about it mostly because i didn't really know what was behind this magnificent series back then but now i do and i really thank you for this incredible feeling❤and thanks scott for all those hours of fun and curiosity trying to complete every game while trying to find pieces of lore and for all those lore videos that i watched thank you!
I remember being completely oblivious to FNaF, only first seeing it through a pfp someone had on a forum site I was on, that was a gif of Foxy basically dancing down the hallway in place of running when FNaF 1 was released
We will miss you Scott, you have been the creator of many hopes and dreams and filled the minds of hundreds of people, and have created something that will go down in the history of the internet forever. We love you Scott, and we thank you more than anything. Goodbye.👋
Too bad he is homophobic
@@atanaZion damn, sucks because I’m gay irl too
most impresive thing to me is how quickly scot came up with ideas, made exclent 3d modles, & got most of the codeing perfected.
His games were all made with Clickteam Fusion, which is very easy to use for small 2d games. This allowed him to release multiple games in a very short period of time.
The models are absolutely amazing and very well made tho.
@@Emanuele_Polisenato be fair, Clickteam said they had no idea how he got FNaF4 working
@@quantumblauthor7300really? What a compliment
@@quantumblauthor7300 he really pushed the game engine beyond its limits making clickteam themselves confused
18:50
I swear to god as soon as you said "with this" my monitor turned off for no reason.
The timing was impeccable, to the point that it kinda scared me.
It’s so funny how Scott releases these games earlier than expected 😭😭 this video was really good. Great job on the editing, research, quality, all that!
23:28 , that song is simple, but hits hard
Shadow Bonnie's lullaby
Scott’s retirement letter is nearly enough to bring me to tears. He’ll be missed so so dearly when he leaves fully
he will still be there for the movies
@@logojanny7171 I hope so
@@thediamondbeargaming Yeah, when Dawko and the others went to the movie set, they all got pictures with him. He's gonna see this movie through, man. Dw
@@Daveaintreal I heard about that. Makes me really happy
womp womp
man i remember all of these, i was lucky enough to experience all of these, i remember me and my brother and sister going to the website brightening up the images for clues, making theories, playing fnaf fan games to see what it could possibly be, man i still remember waking uo every day going to the website just to see what animatronic they turned into the fnaf world version of, good times, sucks game developers don't do this, this is exactly how you build a connection to your community
I was here for all of these but only really remembered some of it. watching this is such a trip down memory lane, i love it
10:11 “Oh you don’t like the jump scare? Oh I’ll make a good jump scare…”
-Scott
How could you skip the completely bonkers conversation between the scottgames and fnafworld websites?
Great video!
It's one of the more obscure teasers to say the least. I don't blame them for missing it.
You reminded me how excited I was for these teasers really nice video thanks man
This was like memory lane for me i remember all the teasers memes and theorys i remember them releasing and playing them god i love this video
20:18 “20 empty triangles”
My brother in Christ, that is a rectangle
My brother in Christ, those are 40
The early releases of Five Nights at Freddy's were a part of most of our late childhoods before becoming adults and I think that's one of the reason most of us hold this franchise so close to heart. It connects with your freshest childhood memories of the hype, the exciting scare and the theories we all used to make. And I am so happy Scott went from almost bankrupt to being ABLE to retire freely with the enormous financial boost these games gave him, It leaves me with a bittersweet feeling knowing Scott is gone but he is okay, his family and him are not financially struggling anymore and in return he gave us one of the most cherished memories before growing up.
I thought he came back
God, I remember those days. I was also in middle school when I got into fnaf, and was introduced to Markiplier’s channel when started to follow the series. I got so hyped that I would always come back to Scott’s website for updates, and mean ALWAYS 😅 But dang I remember all of them, especially being absolutely stoked for the trailer of the 2nd game. Thanks a lot for this video, I honestly thought I was the only one that was obsessed to these teasers, it was nice to head back onto memory lane.

Scott actually put snippets of the new Pizza Sim animatronics here if you look closely
what? where?
@@Splushr there's Scraptrap's hand in the left bottom corner of Springtrap's picture and Molten Freddy's wired body in the left bottom corner of Funtime Freddy's picture
there's more but i can't remember them at the moment
23:08 is where real men cried
Dude, the execution of 13:49 is so well done, and super unnerving. Congrats on giving me goosebumps in a video looking at still images about videogames XD
This is some modern analog horror level stuff
I still remember watching marks video on the first game and getting excited for the next, especially when game theory came out making new theories I was always so invested in, I'm 17 now and I find it crazy to think an indie game like this took over my whole childhood pretty much. I still remember eagerly waiting the release of Pizzeria simulator on skype call with my best friend at the time. I wish he didn't retire but I understand why he did, he had an amazing career and he needs this well deserved break.
Thank you Scott for shaping my childhood
Lost art,but i have all of these saved in a folder from 2016

I absolutley miss Scott Games teasers, they were one of my favorite things waiting for the next release. This is a nostalgic time indeed.
I remember playing Fnaf in 6th grade, now I’m in college, where does the time go? Thank you Scott for all of the memories your games gave me!
I've rewatched this like 4 times. Such a good video
I think what makes this saga so special is that it was inspired by its community, everyone by making a youtube video, a reddit post, even a single comment or upvoting some else's opinion took part in making these games, Scott really listened to its community and knew how to meet people's expectations and when to subvert them, there are many plot points and characters that were "based" on the community. He also never let the hype for the games die in its 7 years of continuous work, he could even launch a whole new game even befofe an "average player" finished conpleting the previous one, let alone understand every detail Scott put in every game. That's what made them so special and they keep a space in the hearts of those who grew with it.
I’ll always have major respect for Scott. His franchise was one of the first bits of horror I found myself getting really into.
I'm now saddened after watching this.
I remember how hype all of his teasers were and actually finding his trolls so funny because they just kept me wanting to see what was next; either a troll or a real teaser.
Definitely my favorite game developer, and FNaF will stick with me forever, and I'll probably be reciting the entirety of the lore to my kids one day:)
What If there was an artbook featuring all the teasers?
this video reminded me of all the times I ran home from school and checked youtube for any updates on scott's website
