"I'm not in the mood for a cookie" literally made me laugh out loud
Especially because it's a cookie realting to computers. The Oracle literally asked him to accept cookies, lol.
We saw this when it first came out in theatres. It blew our minds! I rewatch it provmbably once a year if not more. If i see it on, I end up watching it while i do other tasks.
This movie is based on 18th century French philosophy, kant amoung others. Ihave seen thousands of movies. This is a top 5 Sci fi.

The Animatrix is an official release, a collection of short stories meant to be seen before the 2nd movie. It fills in world elements, back story, and is full of lore. It answers some questions, and creates new ones. As an added bonus, one of the characters in the Animatrix has a prominent role in the 2nd movie, so I highly hope you check it out and share your reaction to it as well.

Such an excellent film, you have appeared to have grasped the deeper layers of the themes. On one hand its about our future relationship with machines and the illusion of free will in a controlled environment. On the other hand, its about our world, our minds that are kept subdued and fearful of a superficial reality created by media, governments and corporations. If we only watched TV and got our info from social media, the world we think we inhabit would be an illusion, we need to be conscious to be able to wisely choose our future, to meet our potential. When ready, we ought to accept the truth of the world, even if its painful, in order to wake up from dreaming through life, to free your mind from a prison of illusions.

one of the best movies of all time, so ahead of it's time, I wish you'll react at least 2 more matrix movies
I saw this in 99. I was in Montreal at the time in a bar and told an editor there who had just made a popular french movie. He was not impressed by the " hollywood crap" I had seen. 25 years later and there are now reaction movies to this movie. As for the movie he had edited I don't remember its name nor do does anyone else I suspect. experts are just an opinion. This movie is the GOAT of Sci fi genre.
You will really enjoy the 2nd and 3rd movies. I think the trilogy is quite amazing, just be careful of bringing expectations into it.

The car chase in reloaded is greatest of any movie.
When I first saw this movie almost everything in it resonated with my knowledge of Jesus Christ, the biblical plan of salvation, the prophesied Messiah, the correlation of the spiritual realm and the earthly, the maturation of a born again believer, learning to live by faith, spiritual adversaries and their ability to posses or influence fallen mankind, and more. It seemed too much to be merely coincidental and it is. On top of our archetypal concepts being shaped by Judeo-Christian traditions and values we all know the underlying dynamics to be universal and exclusive, as far as we know, to mankind. So, being a studied believer in Christ, the movie was an exciting reflection of the concepts I was very familiar with but never expected to see adapted to a "sci-fi/thriller", even though all "heroes" are an archetypal reflection of the Christ and all dramas borrow from the concepts of alienation, battle and redemption
