- In this video my dad replaces the steering box for his 1951 Chevy truck. This truck was notorious for how much play it had in the steering wheel. Installing the new steering box was relatively simple and made the truck safer to drive.

In case you didn't know you can adjust the gear box to take all of the play out of the steering. On top of the gear box there is an Allen bolt with a larger lock nut around it, loosen the lock nut then tighten the Allen bolt in the center about 1/8 a turn at a time until there is very little/no play, checking in between turns. When done just re-tighten the lock nut carefully without moving the Allen bolt and you'll be good to go 👍 also pay attention to the steering wheel, if it gets harder to turn then you have tightened too much.
Love the intro man!
