The “what I do!?” And “she always does that, twists my words” are without a doubt my favorite lines. And, they stick out more than any other quotes on the show for some reason. Especially “what I do” bc it’s from season 1 and I’ve said it so many times and people have no idea or remember it lol

No doubt. The actor deserves an Emmy if he doesn't already. I bet he came from some of the best theater companies out there. He hits the right notes like David Garrison did on Married With Children. And he was a theater actor.

I get the sense, Ted is likely to have an extreme moment of panic and energy, maybe a demogorgon will burst through the room and he’ll reach a volume we haven’t heard from him yet.
I imagine him and Karen are most likely going to become aware of the supernatural threat facing their town and the role their children have played in it these last few years, especially after what happened recently
or he already knows everything and cba to care :D just wanna eat his chicken and read the paper xD
@@Mikeyvike plausible, but unlikely, I understand you are kidding. all I’m getting at is because of the caricature “tired unaware dad” that Ted embodies, it seems like he’s being set up to have all the supernatural craziness slap him in the face in what will be a very humorous scene, where he flips the fuck out. Karen I had hoped would become a more relevant character, cause she’s kind of a badass mom, and has shown to demonstrate some credible intuition about all the stranger things that happen in Hawkins. Remember when she lockpicked Nancy’s door, she should’ve joined the party a long time ago

@@Mikeyvike hopefully, there is no explaining their way after what the kids just did. If I were Ted, I would feel like a failure, as a man and a parent to discover what my children have been involved with, the physical and emotional suffering they’ve endured, the hardened warriors they have become, while I have been a lazy apathetic piece of shit all these years, thinking I know best, when I didn’t know anything. Karen will definitely feel that way, but Ted, maybe, we’ll see
@@griffinembry9071 haha well i dont think the show will explore those kinda emotions, however imo he as a father hasnt done a bad job, no one would expect these kinda things to happen irl. He however should involve himself with the family more thou but at least hes not a drunk that yells and abuses kids. he checks on them and give advises when he sees faults.
I want so badly in season 5 a scene with Ted seeing the monsters first hand, and gearing up with trashcan armor and taking them on. That would be the best redemption arc imaginable and it will be devastating to me if they choose not to go with this idea, or something like it.

The mom has the most chances to have sorta major role in S5, and if Ted sees and learns all about these monster stuff it'd be interesting to see how he'd react.And tbh Nancy and Mike need someone, Nancy is literally doing this all alone,like she's taking care of Mike as well as herself,need the parents to do something.

i think he gets a lot of undeserved hate. i think hes a pretty good father, he is stable, attentive, calm, doesnt take himself too seriously, provides well, seems to be around his kids often. maybe he lets karen do the most of the emotional work because he knows she is better at it and the kids respond better to her. but i dont think he is the absent useless father they make him out to be.

This clip shows that he said bad things about Michael and he does let Karen do all the work that's a lot of pressure on her he's very neglectful he might not hit them or be a drunk alcoholic but this can still affect them by being emotionally neglectful (my opinion by the way)

Mr. Wheeler is just misunderstood! He's a hard worker and is so tired when he gets home that he doesn't notice if the kids are fighting monsters. Remember Mr. Wheeler's hard work bought the main setting of the kid's hangout. Don't villianize a Reagan voter.

GUYS HEAR ME OUT: I have this major theory that Ted could be secretly playing a major role as part of the Hawkins Lab/or even Russians clan. Given how the series never explicitly shows his actual day job, but the Wheelers seem pretty well off due to the house they can afford, Ted could very well be doing some major government operation work on the side. The series intentionally set him up as this useless and indifferent potato to lower the audience's guard. Either way, Ted could be the secret plot twist and MVP you never suspected the whole time.

Great Dad Motivation
Ted gives off the vibe that he would've been a better father if he had kids when he was younger. Because he acts like a father who's kids have already grown up, moved out, and started they're own lives when in reality his oldest hasn't even graduated yet that I know of.
On another note, considering him and Karen have three kids, one almost graduating, one starting high school and one starting kindergarten. I would not put it past Ted to be a monster in the bedroom, it just takes a few years to build up the required energy.

Just you wait till season 5 when at the last minute Ted will come thru guns blazing like Agent Porn Stache from Season 4, and take out that General dude and his private army to the shocked look on Eleven, Mike, Nancy, Holly and his now moist wife. He just looks at his son and says with a smirk on his face “A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.” and gives him a fatherly wink. After another time lapse a la "A few months later" and they defeat whomever is behind it all in the final episode, we will see a quick shot of where everybody ends and a shot of Mrs. Wheeler pregnant again with Holly listening with her ear pressed on her mother's belly and Teddy enjoying his chicken, ending with a "blink and miss it" camera pan across their house with picture of Ted's awarded a "Distinguished Intelligence Medal" or "Intelligence Star" from the CIA.
