    Hey there,
    You know I love a unicorn, I love glitter & sparkles too... so, in this video, I've created 'Unicorn Poopops' First I'll show you how I make my fluffy meringue and then I'll show you how I turn them into unicorn meringues on a lollipop stick (as If by magic!) They are loads of fun to make, great to give as a gift and fab to make for a party!
    Why not have a go yourself (and get the kids to help) then let me know how you get on by commenting below. Pics most welcome too, over on Instagram or Facebook (links below). Enjoy!
    ABOUT ME
    Hey there! I’m Stacey Hart, mum to 3 boys and semi-finalist on The Great British Bake Off 2017. I've always loved baking for friends and family and since GBBO aired lots of you have been asking me to share my recipes too. So I decided to share the fun, and create this channel, where I can show you what I get up to, how you can get the kids to help (sometimes!) and we'll hopefully end up with some fab creations you can share with your family & friends like I do. WARNING: Expect pink, glitter, and sprinkles. After all, I am who I am!

    INGREDIENTS & METHOD
    Ingredients
    150g Room Temp Egg Whites
    ¼ tsp Cream of Tartar
    300g Caster Sugar
    Electric pink, blue and purple food colouring
    Glitter
    Candy melt or white chocolate
    Lollipop sticks
    Candy floss essence
    Method
    Oven on the 100 conventional heat
    Start whipping the egg whites slowly and then speed up to get the mixture to soft peaks
    Spoon in the caster sugar a spoon at a time (allowing the meringue to become full again after each addition)
    When all the sugar has been added whisk for another 5 mins until all the sugar is dissolved and the meringue is super thick then add a few drops of the essence of your choice
    In the meantime line 2 large baking trays
    Split the meringue into three, carefully fold in the food colouring and then spoon into individual piping bags and flatten each of them down
    Put the open star nozzle into a large piping bag and then carefully and evenly place the three smaller bags into it.
    Pipe some small poos first to get the three colours to come out before piping the bigger ones.
    Sprinkle some glitter on the meringues
    Bake for 45 mins and then leave to cool a while in the oven before taking out
    When totally cold melt some white chocolates or candy melts and dip a lollipop stick in them before carefully inserting into the bottom of the meringue
    Leave to harden at room temp

    You state to put the oven on "100 conventional heat". Is that Celsius or Fahrenheit?

  • @ma.roxannecharismaloya2634

    Can you substitute caster sugar with powdered sugar?

    • @crazycatlady19691
      @crazycatlady19691 Před 3 lety +1

      No. It is not recommended to substitute confectioners sugar for casters sugar, but you can substitute granulated sugar for casters by blending it down usually to smaller particles in such recipes like meringue, BUT NOT TOO FAR or you'll get confectioners sugar.. It's usually easier to just use the casters because it does dissolve faster and better than regular white granulated sugar, especially in a meringue.
      Hope I explained that right.

    How long do these store or how far in advance can I make these?

    • @StaceyDeesKitchen
      @StaceyDeesKitchen  Před 4 lety

      These are always best eaten on the day they are made however I believe if you store them in an airtight container they should last a couple of days. When food colouring is added to meringue I find they don't last as long as plain meringue

    Can i use granulated sugar instead of the caster sugar?

    • @StaceyDeesKitchen
      @StaceyDeesKitchen  Před 6 lety

      Hi there. I wouldn't use granulated sugar for meringue. The crystals are too big to dissolve into the egg white. I would always use fine caster sugar. 😁

      Assuming you're American to ask that. I am also. But lived in Europe for 3 years. I don't know of any American full sized stove that starts at 100F. Usually they start at 275F. I've even seen some that start at 250f and some go up as high as 600F. I couldn't imagine cooking many baked goods at 250C however; the starting of most americanized stoves are 250-275F.
      250 C is equal to about 470F. Just saying . Most things would cook way too fast and likely burn.
      100c is about 212f. So you might need to use a large toaster oven or something.
      You can dehydrate meringues for about 1½ to 2 hr's at about 155F. I haven't tried it, but read before that it works. In theory, it should.
      Dehydrating is still cooking with heat, but a very low and slow heat.

    What is the sunstitude it cream of tartar?

    • @StaceyDeesKitchen
      @StaceyDeesKitchen  Před 5 lety +2

      You can use a small amount of white wine vinegar or lemon juice instead. So for every 1/2 TSP cream of tartar use either 1tsp lemon juice or white wine vinegar

    • @crazycatlady19691
      @crazycatlady19691 Před 3 lety

      Do you have a kitchen scale? Most scales even the ones in the USA have both grams and ounce settings. Usually it's just a flick of a switch or to tap a button on the settings.
      500 grams is equal to 17.63696 ounces
      And I don't know many scales that go to a hundredth place. Like it'll goto 17.6 but not even 17.63. So just flip that switch over to kg or grams whichever it is. It may say metric even.
      And trying to convert from ounces to grams is just as painful, because 1 ounce is 28.3495 grams. Good luck measuring that out. Just flip the switch to metric. But now you know for a close estimate that 500 grams will be close to not quite 18 ounces. A lb 2oz.
      Good luck.
