I just had a new finding!! In 2014 and newer cars, the Phone menu in the MFD will not go away unless you do the following:
1. Disconnect the MultiMedia interface module in the center arm rest compartment (if it’s not there it’s hiding behind/on top of the glove box)
2. Disconnect the Car-Net telematics module underneath the passenger seat.
3. Deselect “2E-Media Player 3”, “75-Telematics”, and “77-Telephone” in the gateway installation list (using VCDS or OBD11).
Simply deselecting these modules isn’t enough, the MMI module needs to be unplugged or the instrument cluster will still see it.
After doing this, the system is fully switched over to the rcd330 and the steering wheel buttons will no longer try to control the old system.
For anyone concerned about disabling telematics, this system became completely useless with the sunset of the 3G AT&T network in February 2022

Thank you for the video. Trying to put all the info together and this was very helpful. Saw some saying that if you unplug the battery, you don’t have to code for the fender system. It just learns it. Does the front USB still work/charge?
Thanks for the video. I have the same car, 2015 TSI SEL and bought the same radio. I'm having to use an adapter harness to plug in. The original didn't fit into the RCD330. The unit powers but has no sound. Any ideas?

I had a 2020 Tiguan with wired Apple CarPlay and IT had issues pretty often where the screen would not sync. It didn't make any sense to me, but I'm going to check it out.
I have one in my Passat sel with fender and when it gets lounger it doesn’t sound the best. How do you do the vcds stuff? 2013 btw

Looks clean! I just recently installed a Noname 187E into my 2015 Beetle 1.8T Classic and it works like an absolute charm. The only issue I've been having is I still get a notification through my phone consistently about granting contacts data to the old "VW PHONE" bluetooth even though I forgot it on my phone and disconnected & removed the bluetooth unit from under the passenger seat entirely. It doesn't impact the ability for my phone to connect to the new unit's bluetooth, but it does cause drops in connection from time to time. Do you have any ideas as to how I could get rid of this issue?
@@Brian-jv8iy I don't have an iPhone, but I was able to perform something similar on my Pixel 4 XL and it did the trick.

How useful are your steering wheel buttons when using Apple Carplay?
Im considering retrofitting steering wheel buttons but wanted to know if I can do more than just activate Siri and change the volume. Ideally I’d like to be able to skip Spotify tracks from the steering wheel.
