      Yes very scary to think of some driving equipment with no training or knowledge of how a truck works ... thanks tank for watching

    Right on the money! I wouldn't let my boyfriend hold my keys until I trained him up on semis. I only have 15 years no a/ts but I'd like to keep it that way even if I'm not the one driving. Great video!

    Agree with what you are saying. I think this should go for not only HDT's but anything you are operating. Guess I'm showing my age, but think its crazy you get a drivers license now and the thing is good for the next 50 years. I remember back when you had to take a test every few years, no matter how big of a vehicle you were driving. HDT, truck, car, bike, golf cart can kill if not done responsibly

    Nope, not everyone should use an HDT to tow their 5th wheels. Same goes for a large percentage of the so-called 'professional' commercial drivers on the road today. Their driving skills & knowledge that are displayed on the highways, prove it! Start preaching in your own backyard.

    Airbrakes are safer and more idiot proof than your average vehicle braking systems on the road to be honest. Also, I would guess that at least 90% of people on the road driving, including truck drivers, have little to no real working mechanical knowledge of a vehicle, regardless it's size/class.

      I assume you mean the wandering wagners , if that's who your referring to he is more than qualified as he is a old trucker, and a state cdl examiner... but yes that type of rv anything with air brakes people need to seek some training. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      I didn't forget, I'm gonna do a entire video showing and explaining that one.. this one was in hope they would seek some training that would also teach them that , but definitely thanks for bringing that up, that is definitely a very important thing to know for sure once they are hot and glazed your S.O.L...

    Speaking for myself I believe anyone driving an HDT for hauling an RV should be required to have a specific endorsement on their license permitting them to legally operate it. We are looking at an HDT to haul our 5th wheel but will take a course prior to getting out on the road. In Texas you must have an airbrake endorsement to operate it.

    • @RollinwiththeBolens
      @RollinwiththeBolens  Před 2 lety

      I wish more states would follow Texas and require the same .. thanks for seeking out training if you move forward on your purchase of a HDT.. thanks again for watching and commenting!

      @@RollinwiththeBolens My dad was a trucker so I totally respect commercial drivers and the training they are required to have. It scares me as well that more training isn’t required to operate an HDT. Many of the 5th wheels being towed are significant both in weight and length making it dangerous if not trained properly. Same applies to many of the Class A’s and Super C’s.

    Well maybe we need to take about 2/3 of the drivers off the road. They have no idea how their vehicle operates, including heavy haulers.

      Any small truck and trailer over i think its 22000 lbs so alot of rvers up here need it but they dont enforce it much. But i cant pull a trailer with air brakes unless i have a full AZ license which is your cdl

    I have had more problems driving on interstates with these so called professional drives. With all their (6 weeks) training and still don't know shit about the truck they are driving. Knowing your truck applies to any vehicle pulling a trailer.

  • @cooltrkin
    @cooltrkin Před 2 lety

    Let's be real, take an HDT if you are pulling a large 5th wheel. It should be mandatory to have a hdt pulling it. I'm a 44 year trucker and a new cascadia with an automatic is easier to drive than my old Ford f350 with a granny 4 speed. I've got over 4 million miles under my belt and in my opinion most fifth wheels need air breaks. So what I'm doing is buying a step deck and mounting my fifth wheel on it and putting my f350 on the back.

    • @RollinwiththeBolens
      @RollinwiththeBolens  Před 2 lety +1

      I agree to a certain extent, some extremely large 5th wheels shouldn't be pulled by a pick up truck. Even though newer semi trucks are very easy to drive , still doesn't mean everyone with a driver's license should be operating one without any training, it should be mandatory they have some sort of training to be operating something of that size and having air brakes. I also believe air brakes on the bigger 5th wheels would be a better system and safer to operate but with the proper training. Now back to what your building thats awesome we have been considering redoing an old carpet trailer and converting it to an rv.. but once again that would be cool because I'm actually qualified to drive that type of vehicle. Thanks for watching and commenting.. be safe driver
