- Let's talk about when, on the "So Funny I Forgot To Laugh" episode of the PBS Kids cartoon "Arthur", Arthur (the eponymous) made fun of Sue Ellen's new favourite sweater. Then he bullied her so hard that she almost changed schools. It didn't make her look like a sheep dog at all. Not even Binky the bully thought so. What's your deal, Arthur Read? This is not Arthur. This is way beyond Arthur. Remember how, in the first episode of this series, he was bullied? He knows how that feels, and just watching this is just super duper out of character for him. This feels like a retcon if anything. He acts petty and doesnât regret what he did. He even says that he was bullied for wearing glasses. What made Arthur this way? Seriously. Over a sweater? Also, both Francine and Muffy are sad that Sue Ellen transferred to another class, yet those two are usually toxic bullies. The math and logic of this episode are not adding up. Whoever wrote this, they should've seen the other characters before trying to use Arthur as the villain. There are a variety of bully characters in this show, and it could've worked, but this is the episode we got. No one learned anything at the end.
This show went to hell. Especially when Ratburn became gay.
They shouldâve used Francine
@@McLovin_2004how was that a problem?
@@negressprincess I'm assuming they just hate same-sex couples...
What makes the existence of this episode sadder is that the 1st Arthur episode is about him being bullied by Francine for wearing glasses. Later, when he learns that his TV idol, Bionic Bunny wears glasses too, he learns to accept his glasses and not let Francine's words hurt him as much. He already knows how much bullying hurts because he was bullied himself, he knows better than to do the same thing himself to another person, because no one deserves that.
Agree heâs been bullied himself but yet he bullies someone and knows how much it hurts to be bullied. Through out the episode he seems to feel no remorse and even goes as far as cyber bullying her to the point where she doesnât want to come to school anymore.
Sue Ellen's sweater actually looks warm and comfy.
Stinkin' sheepdog
This episode sucked. The writers for this episode should have chosen DW, Francine, Muffy, or Binky to be the bully for this episode. Arthur bullying his friends seems way too out of character for him.
This is super out of character for Arthur. Not to mention Sue Ellen has a crush on himđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łand Francine got some nerveđ€Ł
Fun fact: The Terry Fox story is true. He passed away on June 28th, 1981 due to pneumonia after slipping into a coma.
Calling her a dog is racist to dogs
And sheâs a cat
Fern is a dog, so itâs actually racist.
Arthur felt then every one teased him for wearing glasses
Sad part is they reference the episode where he was bullied over his glasses so he should know better
When buster said "it was terrible, that's why I'm not speaking to you" Arthur was surprised/shocked that buster said that to him,and buster is supposed to be Arthur's "best friend"
My main problem comes from the execution. Its not like arthur isnt capable of bullying tendencies, if you remember the crunch cereal episode where he went full diva on his orchestra and sue ellen cowered behind someone, It was the delivery that sold it. But here he's just being a petty twat for the sake of of that's just how it is because the writing says so. Also sue ellen wouldn't take this preschool level harrassment since she was the only kid before to stand up to binky but arthur delivering the most soy based vanilla imitation excuse for inults makes her fold. Meanwhile the sheer stupidity and hypocrisy of ratburn lecturing arthur on bullying while francince and binky have done it before without impunity, heck after this stupid episode binky still does bullying like stuffing george in a locker.
Also Arthur was one of the people who laughed at George's nosebleeding, even Buster joined in which feels out of place. They laughed at George but feel bad for Francine even though she used to make fun of Arthur's glasses
Let's not forget Francine and Muffy acting like they never bullied anyone before in their lives. It's as if this episode was made in a different universe with how much the writing disregarding everything from this long running show
Honestly this missed the point about Arthur
Arthur is supposed to be a show That teaches Morals on being kind, not to bully, Never Do bad stuff and never Bully someone for something they wear! I mean kids and adults watch this⊠excepting to learn positive moral lessons
Exactly
I donât think Arthur was a good pick for the bully role in this episode
This episode reminds me of when I was bullied in fourth grade. The guy embarrassed me in front of my friends, and then he went too far. What he did, Iâd rather not say.
This feels more like a Francine episode. Arthur constantly gets pushed around by his four year old sister and we're supposed to buy him as a bully?
I know Arthur is my guy, but this was just ridiculous.
Ngl this makes up for the episode where Arthur got punched by binky
Arthur acting like Cartman here.
In one episode, he was imagined as Cartman!
This was one of my favorite episodes as a kid but looking back at it now I can see why this was problematic
This is the complete opposite version of Arthur's Glasses.
No. The Brain was voiced by Siam Yu. And there is Arthur's dog, Pal.
It's a Pluto/Goofy situation. Dogs can be people and pets I suppose.
@@Hamfreeze I see Porkchop in the upper right-hand corner. What's he doing there?
I thought cyber bullying is bullying someone online and not in real life/public/in school, because then that's just normal "bullying" and not "cyber bullying"
This is out of character for Arthur imho but relatable to all kids teaching kids understanding kindness and empathy is a big part of growing up
1:38 Bruh, I walked up to an Asian person and in a pet, voice said, "Who's a good Asian? Yes, you're a good Asian, come here good Asian I've got a treat for you." And for some reason I was stabbed 27 times. Your advice failed me. LMAO
Arthur creator Mark Brown based the Arthur Book series and TV show on his life. Do you think perhaps Mark felt remorse for something he did?
That's just straight up out of character.
Hi ttte
Well maybe her essay would be better if she weren't distracted because someone has been teasing her re: her sweater
True, my writing skills plummet when I'm getting cooked.
Honestly, I never thought Arthur had the balls to be a bully. If anything, seeing him bully Sue Ellen of all characters in this episode was kinda surprising. Glad Arthur and Sue Ellen made up though.
So what you're saying is instead of Arthur being a cyber bully he's a cyber racist
Arthur is based.
He was in third grade in that episode
I hated this episode with a passion. It was a complete 180 from what Arthur was and still is. If they forgot he had a crush at one point and this was a character we were supposed to look up to. It also felt rushed from name calling to oh no my friend might change schools because of me. Plus Iâm surprised the parents didnât get notified.
underrated + subbed
also 4:43 arthur already ended, lmao
Something similar happened between 2 friends of mine, (I call them Charlie and Benny. Thatâs not their real names) Charlie has called Benny Mr. Bean over and over for years and Benny grew tired of it and asked him to stop but Charlie didnât listen, Benny had enough and called him out and now Charlie accuse Benny for being over sensitiveâŠ.. I mean mr Bean is a fun guy but the point is he asked him to stop call him that and he didnât listen
Kids are cruel, Jack
Oh Binky is definitely a bulldog
Arthur has a dog named Pal.
Binky is dog he is a bulldog
I mean there are a few dog characters like the mailman from the Perky episode, the brown puppy from the gymnastics episodes
Even Binky and Prunella are dogs
@@pinkglitter93 yep
Alpaca hair is pretty soft fun fact
Why is this episode so popular, It is the worst Arthur episode ever made. The animation used to be really good too but they just switch to flash in season 16 since you all dont pay your taxes.
Because Arthur is very out of character in it thatâs why itâs gotten so much attention.
They probably could have set it up better. Mabye they coulf have had him pick up on that new behaviour when he saw some older kids calling each other names and laughing it off, maybe as an attempt to feel older, thinking nothing bad about it until he took it too far.
@@the_indecisiveartist_5850 Arthur even made Sue Ellen want to switch classes. Also Arthur was bullied for wearing glasses so he should know what bullying looks like.
@huntercoleman460 No, I know. But as I said, the setup could have been better because some younger children sometimes end up doing things they know are bad due to there being an outside influence. i.e., a person who denounces something but does the exact same thing despite it
@@the_indecisiveartist_5850 think the episode wouldâve been better if Binky or Buster were bullying Sue Ellen?
Thatâs the one thing I donât get he knows what itâs like to be bullied so why would he do this? Itâs way out of character for him.
Ooh roman sounds good.. never really noticed it before but yeah.. although fwiw I never really have known why so many fonts exist on computers but in actual brands and logos I mean it look kind of pretty an aesthetic but yeah it sounds pretty cool actually like if ithas roman in the name maybe it is romanian or rome or some kind of forign styled font.. but I just know it cause in scjool they said it often idkwhy specifally but yeah..
Ooh I love homoarahkan or otherwise known as molta... ie the spiderman font and sony playstation font.
Also I nnever realozed you can just choose to be in a diferent class fwiw 9:02 without some kind of difficulty etc.
I wonder if Arthur suffers from the same continuity reset factor as seen in the Simpsons and Marvel. In earlier Simpsons episodes, Bart was born around 1981 but now he was born around 2011. Homer was born around 1956 and now he was born in 1982. I wonder if Arthur does that too.
It's called a Floating Timeline.
Well... this show did in fact state the year a couple of times. Like one episode straight up said the year was 2003 and another episode later on said it was 2012.
What's Porkchop from Doug doing in the picture?
We were trying to solve his breed when we stumbled upon the Arthur segment
Yeah I remember this episode
Arthur is literally racist lmao
you know, i really like this hamfreeze guy, thats a sub from me, gonna watch his other videos now, hopefully i can make it to the next stream
How else likes sue elens sweter
i remember how cringy this episode was. like bruh.... nah

1:47 Or Canadian
Canadian is an insult IMO
I was referring to the Kendrick vs. Drake thing, btw.
No no overreacting of over PBS kids shows you're overreacting because of the Arthur controversial controversy mega marathon
This never felt like a bully episode. I think it could have been a better episode by teaching kids to have thick skin to ignore people and some bad jokes.
This episode is as bad as fancy house from SpongeBob. Skip-able and unwatchable.
