We're back at our tiny house in the highlands of Cape Breton and in this week we're talking about why we love Cape Breton also discussing all of our favourite things to do, what to do and where to stay.

We start off by doing a little exploring of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Canada has some amazing national parks and this one is definitely up there with the best. It was a hot day as we filmed and we visited a stream in the park to cool down a bit.
Later we headed to Neil's Harbour where we visited the beautiful beach.
We picked the video up the next day where the weather switched dramatically and was now 15 and pouring rain so we sat down and made a list of our favourite places, restaurants and where to stay in Cape Breton.

We will have to check out the Black Spoon next year when we drive back to our eventual summer retirement home in Newfoundland! We usually stop in Baddeck. This year we did Tom's pizza, for some craft beer and good eatin' on a casual patio overlooking the water. It was a perfect pit stop before the ferry!

I may be slightly biased because I am from Cape Breton. I have however seen a lot of places on this spinning rock we call earth. I can honestly say Cape Breton ranks up there amongst some of the most beautiful places I have seen. It has it all, ocean, mountains, valleys, beaches, sunrises, sunsets and more. Our favourite hike is the Jack Pine half way between Ingonish and Neils Harbour. It is a fairly easy trail that goes through the woods ,along the coast then back to the beach. We like doing it in reverse then what is suggested at the trail head.

Great restaurant choices. Love the Black Spoon. Other top picks around the island for me would be The Freight Shed in Baddeck directly on the government wharf overlooking Baddeck Bay with a view of the lighthouse and the sailboats and in Sydney my choice would be Governor's which is near the cruise pavillion and "The Big Fiddle" overlooking Sydney harbour where they always have live entertainment when cruise ships are in port. The food is amazing at both places.

A high of 35 degrees Celsius and sunny…followed by a 15 degree day with drizzle? Yep, sounds like Canadian weather 🥵 🥶. The geodesic domes are still a place that I would love to visit. However, the improvements that Blue Bayou Resort have made are impressive and, therefore, make them all that much more of an appealingly cozy attraction. Bravo - and thank you for the helpful information in this video. As for this year’s summer? Yeah, it’s flying by faster than an Air Canada Boeing 787 ✈️ 😂.

Ok ok, you convinced us. Stopping by end of august for 2 nights. ;-) How about mosquitos in that area? Also, as a further investment for Stephan maybe consider providing if not already a basic set of kitchen utensils, plates, mugs ans glasses for us international travellers that have no room in suitcases for these items and it is kind of a waste to buy them and then dispose of after the visit? Would love to know if this is available or we need to get this beforehand. Thanks, and thanks for great video's.

half way brook is named that due to it being half way to the falls, great swimming spot those falls the rock wall makes a great natural water slide, you'll know what i mean if you see it. i miss the cape a lot, stan rogers the idiot pretty much explains my story as to why i miss it, like so many others in Ontario that share the story

If you guys were to continue hiking up halfway brook you'd come across one of the best swimming spots in the highlands. Awesome waterfall jumping and a natural waterslide!

lived here my entire life you will never explore everything there is many places to go an see,, As I was watching I was thinking this guy looks like someone and couldn't pinpoint it .
