Talk Talk is way underrated. Their last two albums were departures, more jazzy and ambient, with the last album being experimental without any commercial considerations. And both albums pretty great in my opinion. Love this band.

Talk Talk is one of these groups where the phrase „Best band of all time“ is not just empty words. And Mark Hollis was a musician who can be called „genius“ without the slightest tone of exaggeration. They started as a wonderful pop band with world class hooks, then turned their sound to something unique that was completely uncommercial, but eternal. I love every part of their creation. Thanks for reacting to this!

Mark Hollis and Talk Talk really evolved over the course of their careers. These first hits were their own brand of '80s synth pop, but on this album (The Colour of Spring) you could hear their trend toward more atmospheric and organic songs. "I Believe in You" from Spirit of Eden is a later track you should check out.

You need to listen to "Give It Up", "Talk Talk", "Today", "My Foolish Friend", Such a Shame", "Living in Another World", "Dum Dum Girl",...They are all absolutely amazing specially "Give It Up" and your best watching and listening to the concert 'Live at Montreux 1986' they play all the best songs and most songs are extended and the band specially Mark Hollis give incredible performances..!! I guarantee you'll absolutely love it 😀 Definitely listen to "It's My Life" and "Life's What You Make It" off the concert each song lasts a few minutes longer than the studio version's and are just mind-blowing

Oh my god , like nothing before and since ,still my favourite piece of music ever. ' Late in the evening' was bumped from the Colour of Spring as EMI said they needed a ' hit' to market the album. And Life's what you make it was hurriedly recorded.

Thank you Jovaughn. It’s been 3 years since we lost Mark Hollis. I’m incredibly sad that he passed so young. However, now that you have reacted to two amazing songs I hope that you will continue to react to Talk Talk. I believe Paul Webb did the background vocals, if not please correct me. Talk Talk for me personally, is one of the greatest bands which sadly as everyone has noted is completely underrated. So it gives me great pleasure that a young man of your generation is reacting to them. I am impressed that you remembered his name and that you reacted to “It’s My Life”. I have so many favorites but I high recommend “Such A Shame”, “Dumdumgirl”, “Renee” and “Give it Up”. The original album cover of “Colour of Spring” where this song comes from has butterflies. So you are definitely on to something! I think it’s great how you picked up on the nature/all forms of life in the songs and videos. If you want to go back to the first song I heard, “Talk Talk” that would be another great reaction. And yes that is the name of the band and the song. Mark Hollis wrote extraordinary songs. It just so happens one of the beer companies, I think Budweiser picked this song for one of their commercials. (Please correct me if I am wrong) And as a Duranie, fan of Duran Duran, I can assure you that they definitely didn’t do any background vocals. Another underrated band to react to is Gang of Four. They too lost their lead singer, Andy Gill and he was brilliant. One of my favorites is “Is it Love”. Again thank you so very much for your reaction.

Then as I got older I decided to really check them out and I am so glad I did. Talk Talk is one of the precursor groups of post-rock with its albums Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock. I recommend you take an interest in Rustin Man, the latest project by Paul Webb, bassist of Talk Talk, who released two albums in 2019 and 2020 and which in a way extends the work of Talk Talk.

You're choices of songs are really amazing. Excellent reaction video. It's one of my favourite songs. I love the way it balances the truths of life with the refrain 'everything's alright'. It's like it's all combined. It's a really positive song. And the music -oh my gosh wow.

Paul Webb doing backing vocals in the background simply put his own identity and brand of the 80's in this song, it's impressive how a simple backing vocal makes a great song! Do you agree ?

the song called TODAY ... is the best of his.talk talk ..take a listen to that...found them similar in some ways to tears for fears..if i had to aliken their music to someone...though the voice of the talk talk singer is raw...and very strong and unique..

Seeing that there are guys who like Mark Hollis and Talk Talk makes me very happy. This song has an unique vibe, I love it. The Placebo version is interesting.

Mate, you HAVE to listen to Talk Talk’s “The Party’s Over”. This is what synths, digital (electronic) drums and Mark Hollis’ voice were made for! Try the track titled “Talk Talk”, too. I love the energy of drummer Lee Harris, and as for Mark …. well, in my mind he’s unmatched, on any track he sings on.
Also, have a look and listen too the version of “Life’s What You Make It” by British band ‘Placebo’ ; a very commendable cover indeed with an accompanying video that is a totally opposite concept to the original.
By the way, bass guitarist Paul Webb definitely supplies backing vocals on this track, but it sounds to me there’s a mix of all of the band in there as well.
    Love your stuff.

The core group in Talk Talk is: Mark Hollis, vocals, guitar, piano, & composition; Paul Webb, bass; Lee Harris, drums.
Looks like Webb is one of the backup singers on this. Don't know who else is (I don't think Harris did vocals.)
They also worked with other musicians frequently, especially in concerts, such as guitarist John Turnbull; Ian Curnow on synth; and Tim Friese-Greene, keyboards & composition (worked with Mark on many songs).
In their concerts on youtube, I've seen that backup vocals were provided by Webb and Turnbull.
BTW - some of their songs in concert are better than the album version.

I just have to say Javon I would’ve never listened to this band or this song if it wasn’t for you. But I really like it. I’ve never heard of them or the song. But I like the guitar especially and the guy’s voice is totally unique and the message is true, life is what you make it!
