AMG really just, "Okay it's tuned, but what if the wheels looked like this instead", and they nailed it every single time, pretty much all of their wheels look incredible.

Those AMG Hondas were some of the coolest cars in ZA. Honda Ballades (Civics) were built under license by Mercedes-Benz SA in East London from 1982 to the mid 90s alongside the C-Class that eventually, effectively replaced them. In terms of quality and image, they were a cut above the other Japanese manufacturers.
There were two generations that AMG fettled for the South African market, the EF and EG. It was mostly cosmetic with wheels, suspension, spoilers, some interior bits and a sports exhaust. The EF in particular stood out with its low bonnet and bootline, it just looked slammed to the ground. In the late 80s it was radical for a factory built car. When the EG came around it made everything else look like dinosaurs, (there was even had an ad to drive home the point). In the 90s, I remember drooling over my aunts red EG AMG and wishing that my dad had bought one instead of the stock Ballade, (it was still pretty fast though, the insurance company said I couldn't drive it). Years later (2003) I bought an 11 year old, 180 000km Ballade (sadly not an AMG) that still looked and felt as good as new. Mercedes-Benz, at that time, really knew how to put a car together.
To the best of my knowledge the kits were developed for MBSA by AMG. Each car had an AMG plaque next to the VIN plate. The AMG wheels were 15" polished 5 spoke alloys with a cyclone design and not the Borbet 17s in the pics. The green one at 2:03 had the the right rims and spoiler. The white and red ones were stock 160E/180Es with aftermarket rims.
I wonder what the plaque next to the vin plate looks like.

My dad had one in green. It had a very unique body kit which I haven’t seen since, it was lowered, had the coolest mags and a loud loud exhaust. Inside it had bucket seats on the front, a different sports steering wheel and a loud JVC stereo system. It was one unique Honda, I wish it was still around 🥺.

Great vid as usual! Always found the modified A38 particularly interesting, I wonder how it drove with the two transmissions at each axle. I heard for the A32K that the customer originally wanted the M113 shoved in there, but HWA would have to do far too much for it to fit, so they "settled" for the M112K. I miss these days of AMG weirdness hahah
The A-Class was also available as A210 Evolution AMG, with 2.1 engine

I very much live in 🇿🇦 but never saw an AMG ballad, despite seeing a ballade everyday 😂... that A 38, A32K and B55 are some cool stuff tho. I wonder why there isn't an AMG B class. Like a B35 at least 😂

I bought one last year and want to see what I missed out on in terms of options. I got a 2014 CLS 63 AMG S with premium one, parktronic, the 19 inch matte wheels, and a bunch of other options. I know already I don't have the higher sound system but wanna see what else.@@ashtons550
w219 or w218? We need a video on the cls55/cls63 w219 for sure. It's a shame these are going for less than the w211 counterparts when they are much more rare simply because people just don't know about them.
@@ashtons550 in what country? The only people I see who own them where I live are the drug dealers and they are all in pretty bad condition sadly. Although there is a local guy with a real R63 that's in decent condition

W202 C43 AMG’s are awesome! I loooove mine. Small little sedan with a v8 is so fun and cool lol. One of mine has a 5.4 swap out of an 01 E55, and it makes it even more crazy fun. I love Mercedes and AMG engineering/tuning
I've seen one of the Gallant AMG's for sale right down the road from the house. I never knew they were only built in such low numbers.

Honda ballade amg it was called in south africa and its really hard to find a decent one in the country and weren't many produced so its a unique rare collectors item similar to the e30 bmw 325is
I knew them all except the B class v8 loool the engineers went crazy
as a ballade 180E owner (thanks to my dad) i can say that the car is a cooler better civic the ballade is very tuneable and very fun to drive
Lets not forget the w203 C30CDI AMG, yes a diesel AMG on the base of the W203 C class (using a modified version of the inline five 270CDI engine) that is not really known of outside of W203 enthusiast circles.

A38 AMG was built by Stola, later Mercedes used the moulds for the A32K AMG.

I can't help wishing that AMG was still an independent company - a Mercedes specialist tuner but with the freedom to work with other brands, like Brabus do these days.
Wow, you needed to add a turbo and an injection system to get 95 horsepower? Was it a briggs & Stratton? Did you have to pull a rope to start the van?

Unfortunately, you can't. If you really want one, you'd have to make it yourself. It's really sad because they look awesome, and the AMG body kit from the regular a210 of which plenty were sold looks pretty bad.
