For those who made it to the vlog shortly after 6:08, it's obv to me that they are dog breeders at 7:55. I see different people coming and going every week. They are in better condition then stray dogs that are either dumped or born in the street. Thailand is home to millions of stray dogs (yes, millions!). The things I've seen are traumatizing but I love dogs so much and one day if I ever make enough money from YT we will buy a big land and have 50-100 dogs and help even more.

I am keeping my fingers crossed, hoping for the success of your endeavours. I hope you can replicate the incredible work of Takis shelter in Crete, Greece. Takis has bought land, where now over 400 dogs find their home. His entire existence revolves around his tireless efforts at animal rescue work. People from all corners of Europe come to him to adopt dogs, but he also cares for those dogs that cannot be re-homed for various reasons. They are not confined to cages, but have vast spaces where Takis carefully groups them based on their unique personalities. If you want to learn about how to help dogs, you could check out his videos and hear the stories of the rescued dogs he shares. Once again, thanks so much for what you are doing already. Keep up the good work.
A lot of the songs in the video were from what was then called “Neue Deutsche Welle” (New German Wave), among them Nena (Ninetynine Red Baloons), Peter Schiling (Major Tom), and Geier Sturzflug (Bruttosozialprodukt, gross national product). The latter is a satirical critique of society’s obsession with economic growth and materialism. It uses humor and irony to highlight the absurdity of measuring a country’s success solely based on its gross national product.
Both Boney M. and Milli Vanilli were produced and managed by Frank Farian. This German music producer provided the vocals for most of the male parts on Boney M. and Milli Vanilli songs. In case of Milli Vanilli, the performers were just working as dancers.
Herbert Gröhnemeyer is a famous German actor (best known for “Das Boot”, singer, and songwriter. He still is active and successful as a singer/songwriter.
The ones with the penguin costumes are “Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung” (often abbreviated as EAV). They are an Austrian band, known for their satirical and humorous approach to music, often incorporating social and political commentary into their songs.

I'm familiar with Takis shelter. Sujy and I volunteered and lived for 6 months at a big shelter with 450 dogs and 90 cats here in Thailand and we were in charge of social media. I took inspiration from other shelters, one of which is Takis shelter.

In the video there are actually at least three artists who are from Austria, not Germany: Falco, Opus, Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung. Maybe the author of the video is still with his mind living in WWII times and considers Austria to be part of the German empire.

@@railcity According to the original video, it promises to showcase the most popular songs from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland during the 80s. Perhaps that detail got somehow lost in translation. When discussing German songs, Max & Sujy were likely referring to the German language rather than the political states.

Fun fact about "Der Nippel" by Mike Krüger (third song from the start): it's a funny/satirical song about the difficulties of opening stuff. And at that time, there really _was_ a lot of experimentation with industrially sealed packages that the customer was supposed to open without a knife or scissors. A LOT of experimentation... and even if things didn't get as weird as described in this song, some were pretty complicated.
Something that has improved tremendously since then... and something that people who didn't experience it just cannot imagine anymore. Ah, yes, the distant past! Not everything was better back then. (Though the music was... I'll die on that hill!)

Several of these are widely known because they were international hits which also charted in the UK and/or USA:
"Ein Bißchen Frieden" ("A Little Peace") - Nicole. As you noted, this won the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest.
    "Da Da Da" - Trio
    "Der Kommisar" - Falco
    "99 Luftballons" ("99 Red Balloons") - Nena
    "Big In Japan" - Alphaville
    "Rock Me, Amadeus" - Falco
    "Live Is Life" - Opus
    "Brother Louie" - Modern Talking
All four songs by Milli Vanilli
    "Bring Me Edelweiss" - Edelweiss
Boney M also had several hits here in the UK, but not the ones in this compilation. The Goombay Dance Band had a hit too, with a song called "Seven Tears".
