Can we just take a moment to appreciate how hard it must have been to be in charge of timing this task?
Some devices have a lap function on the timer so you can save the previous times when restarting (i.e. the Apple Stopwatch), but yeah for sure timing must have been pretty stressful
Well, they can just rewatch the recordings to check, which is way easier than pressing a button on the spot multiple times

For anyone wondering about the bad smell in the lab: in a previous (individual) task, Sarah poured milk out on the floor, and they tried to clean it up, but missed a spot.

The bit with Sarah at the beginning realizing that she's to blame for the smell but can't say anything is just adorable.

I can't help but feeling that moving the bath to the lab would've made all their lives a lot easier

It's not worded the best, but this to me makes it seem like your plan wouldn't work, if you take the feather off the plate, then put it back on, the timer will still increase, it won't reset.
@@John-Smlth thats why the plate would be used to cup each other and i shake it..meaning it would touch each side of the plate less than 5 seconds each
@@yuki97kira If the feather touched the first plate for a second left the plate, moved to another, then touched it again, it would still have touched it for that second, so would only have 4 seconds left the second time it touches the plate.
Unless you want the feather to be in the air for most of the time, and you're tossing it between plates, then you wouldn't have long at all to move the feather.
@@John-Smlth Yeah but two plates means 10 seconds, 5 each. How long does it take to run from the lab to the bath with the feather securely held between the plates? Surely less than 10 seconds.
Dara's clap of excitement followed by the realization that the feather is missing is amazing, and it somehow devolves into more madness.
3:22 - this bit made me appreciate John Kearns more than any previous episodes. Coming through the curtain with that chicken fucking floored me the first time around. The look on his face is gold

@@Prakriti2041 I, for one, respect your effort. Having said that, I would call that too "fiddly". I just mean, if I were a competitor on the show, I would think of that as overly "cute". I wouldn't even try it. But if you did try it, you might get away with it. You never know. 🤷♂👍👍👍

@@Prakriti2041 ... Unless it was considered two single things. Each of them is a single thing. Having two of them doesn't stop them from each being one. For example, having 2 oranges doesn't stop you have having an orange. Maybe the words were chosen for that exact reason though, and Alex wanted to see if they could come up with that solution.

If you're wondering who's responsible for feathergate, Dara is the one who lets it fall to the ground on 2:53.
He notices it, however, and silently points it out to John, who chooses that exact moment to briefly turn his back on Dara.
The other 2 just assumed that it was them and not him.
When I watch John, I can’t help but wonder if he is really trying to sabotage all of the team tasks, now. Seeing how he acted in this task wasn’t much different from the way he acted when he was told to sabotage the first one.
That's the true tragedy of John .... Kearns, forever cursed to sabotage his team due to his completely absurd methods

BUT, hear me out. I think it was Dara who lost the feather. They had to start over because it had been touching the dust pan too long, and, after all, it is him who is holding the dust pan. He then hurries away, and I think the feather can be seen sliding off the dust bin and falling to the ground due to his rapid turning around at 2:53. Reduce the playback speed and you can see it falling down, its hard to spot against the light background but it is visible. Justice for Fern and John!
Edit: At 3:28, he is also seen collecting the feather in the same spot. Case closed!

For some reason people are missing that Dara actually points at the feather on the floor to John, he is essentially telling John to pick it up. This is also why he knows where it is because that’s where he saw it fall.

If you look at the bottom left of the hallway at 2:54, you can actually see the feather slowly fall to the ground, unnoticed by everyone.
Given that it was on the dustpan right before, does this in fact mean that Dara DID lose it?!

I loved the bit where the group of three worked to get the feather outside, only to realize Alex had had the bathtub moved.
I like how Fern takes credit for coming up with the system of endless plates, before Alex just says it isn't endless, while Dara just looks on in disbelief, lol.
Good video, but it really isn't complete without the revelation that Munya and Sarah took 24 minutes.

I haven't laughed this hard at team tasks since series 4. Just perfect chemistry all around!
Could try taking the bath to the feather/lab. Physically easier with the team of three but it would require good communication.
Honestly, they didn't even need to give John that earlier sabotage task in the series, with the sand, him just being on the team is a sabotage lol. However they're one of the most entertaining teams in TM history.

I really REALLY hope this episode was named "The system of endless plates"
It was named that, yes.
I'm glad that they have Alex telling them when they have to start over. There was a task in Series 11 where the contestant was responsible for noticing if they made a mistake and starting over, and at least one got DQ'd for believing that they didn't make a mistake.
Mustn't touch a "single thing for more than five seconds in total". So if it touches A for three seconds, then B for three seconds and the back to A fir three seconds, then in total it has touched A for six = fail. That's one interpretation. Another would be that you could put the feather in a big jar, and walk along while shaking the jar enough to get the feather away from the sides every five seconds.
We can see at roughly 2:50 that it goes back to the dustpan and the timer starts at one second. It's cumulative time for each object.
My loophole brain immediately thought "but maybe it can touch multiple things indefinitely." Would have tried it anyhow!
I thought it meant it has to not come into contact with anything for the immediate 5 seconds after leaving the pillow

Being able to clearly hear individual audience members chuckling and emoting over near-silent comedy made this feel like a mr bean sketch
I can't help but think that there is a bath hidden behind the red curtain seen at 2:44. I was waiting for 1 of them to pull back the curtain or for Alex to revel it on video in the studio.
I don’t know about anyone else but I thought this was one of the funniest episodes in ages. I was absolutely dying of laughter on multiple occasions. Don’t get me wrong, the episodes are good, but this one felt like a step above the rest.

with the leaf-blower, I would have go with some sort of vase to keep it to go away while keep blowing in to make it so it fly in the vase but don't touch it too much... maybe it's harder than I think, but I would have try
