I bought three Echo Show 5s (2nd gen) just to monitor my Ring doorbell... AND I LOVE THEM! The sound is surprisingly good when I set two of them up in stereo on my wooden office desk. I didn't realize how good the sound was and all the cool things Alexa can do. At this moment the Echo Show 5s are just $45 so it's a crazy good deal.

I have two of the Echo 5, 2nd Generation and both have the adjustable stand to raise them up. I also have a piece of cooking aluminum foil under the full length of the speakers. It makes a big difference on the sound.

Hey! Did you know that Amazon updated the windows Alexa app. Now you can make it into an echo show. I don’t know if it’s US only, but it might be cool to look into for you! You can turn an old laptop, or have your pc automatically go into show mode after a few minutes of inactivity

I found a echo show 8 at the pawn shop and was pretty hesitant on it. My girlfriend has a echo show 5 which was pretty cool. I only owned a echo dot and loved it for playing music but after seeing her show 5 I became intrigued in them. I initially wanted a echo studio just for speaker purpose in my downstairs kitchen area but now decide on a show. I must say the echo show 8 has been great so far for me seeing as how I got it for a great price from the pawn shop. No complaints from me

@@AutomateYourLife I tested the 5 and 8 yesterday. One thing I would add is that the mic on the 8 hears me better, I was worried it would ignore my commands just like on the 5. But too early to confirm!
Watch with the 5 how your orient it. If there's a lot of reflection of sound back towards the mics, you will get that. I think my 5 actually hears me better than my 8, so might be something odd

A ton of great info! I just got my first echo shows, I purchased one of each for my apartment.
Is it possible or at least for a newbie to figure out how to make all the speakers automatically connect when playing music, but remain independent for everything else?
I think what you want is a Multi Room Music group, which you can create by hitting the + in devices. Then you refer to that in your command for music, which if you want to really keep things independent totally, you can put in a routine that pushes the command into it. This video will help you with routine tips and tricks!

I'm looking for a budget echo show to use with the ring video doorbell. I didn't realize the Google hub I just grabbed for less than $50 at Lowe's wouldn't pair with it. We live in a bad neighborhood and there's been some thefts recently.

Great video! I was just wondering is there any real difference between the echo 10 and the echo 8 for the visually impaired / blind people. Like the show me feature. Which tells the person what they are holding..
There's really no difference other than the screen turning and the slightly bigger screen when it comes to visual features for blind/impairments

I want to get one for my mom. She is chair bound in a nursing home. I’m wondering about making video calls to her and from her ( she can’t pick up or dial a phone), also some security to watch the staff taking care of her.

I would go with the 8 because it’s not too big and and the larger one might as well be a tablet I’m here for research I’m looking into getting 3 two for bedrooms and one for living room I saw all 3 in target the larger one would be too big for my nightstand and the smaller one might as well be my iPhone 14 pro max turned to landscape mode I just want it for basic information like news, weather, setting alarms ask something without googling reaching for my phone while lying in bed at a glance I wouldn’t use it for streaming shows
i remember you told me that the show 10 can be use as trigger for routine when it detects motion (given the light is adequate) and i saw that you have a routine setup that if no motion is detected screen will turn off. question is this, is that function regional? i can't find it anywhere in the Alexa app. thanks Brian
It should just be in the list of routines triggers for the smart home section. You'll find the Echo Show there. You know, it might make sense to change the region on your account if you're missing features like this.

It's an odd choice by Amazon, because there was a time we could choose a number of clocks. I figure it's just something they're working on Daniel...but I can't answer that fully right now!

I have home wired non-smart speakers through my house. Back in the day you would need to have a receiver with zones. Is there a good way to setup an echo to a system like this? I know there are a lot of variables?
Not to a system with multiple zones that I've seen. You can check my channel for a method for Google speakers. It's basically through cast.

I want to use Echo 8 for my Ring doorbell only. The 1st Gen 8 is on sale now for half the price of the 2nd Gen 8. Knowing my plan usage is it worth it to pay twice the price for Gen 2? ( and extra $60 more for Gen 2 )
oooooh, I think you're 2 years till the Echo Show 8 1st gen doesn't really work anymore. So that cost is up to you. Otherwise, not a ton of reasons. :)

I am thinking about the 10 for my father-in-law who has dementia. I want to be able to video chat with him when needed, also so his Dr. At the VA can do video appointments. Is this a good choice for these uses?

3:20 - The "stripe" (letterbox) is because you are displaying a 2.39:1 aspect ratio movie on a 1.78:1 (16:9) display. The theatrical 2.39 aspect ratio is how the director intended the movie to be seen. Movies released in theaters are made to be 2.39, 1.85 and sometimes 2.0, but never 1.78. Correction: The Echo Show 8 display is actually 16:10, or 1.6:1.

I have a small Echo 5 in the Bedroom mainly for setting Alarms, and a Echo 8 in the Living Room for Music, News, Weather, etc. I've got it connected to my Cell Phone, for Face to Face calls with my wife.... But will it connect to my Garmin GPS to do Hands Free Calls?
That I can't tell you. It's going to pair with most bluetooth headphone sets and let you use the microphone on the device with the audio in the headset, but that's not a guarantee. Just try Bluetooth pairing those two and see what happens.

As many as your WiFi can handle! I would say you'll be just fine adding 2-3 new Echo Shows to your home. :)
I have the echo show 5.2 am looking at the echo show 8.2 because the echo show 8.2 can show 4 live view of my blink camera system vs echo show 5.2 only shows 1 camera at a time

I have a new Echo Show 8 2nd gen. I can start, skip or stop songs by asking Alexa but not by tapping the onscreen play pause next buttons. Any help would be appreciated.

Correct. No Shows work this way any longer, though the Echo Show 15 is now basically becoming a Fire Stick.

For me, a 5 is too small and a 10 is too expensive. I have a fire tablet on show mode, but lots of features(like camera/doorbell view, and light grouping) are not available. Should I get the New Echo 8, or the Old Echo 8? I don’t plan to watch videos, just to play a little music, auto show doorbell(which I have soon to get), and control the lights without having to specify which light bulb name. I’d assume the Old 8 would work fine but I’m not sure
For what you're saying, the old Echo Show 8 will work just fine. However, I'd suggest that you wait for a good sale on the new 8 and buy that because of the newer processor and speed on the device.

I am considering the Echo Show 5 I have an alarm installed at the entrance to my property which sounds a tone when someone enters. I only need this device to show who is entering the property I don't want the echo screen to be on all the time. Can I set up either the 5 or the 8 to react to the alarm tone to show me who is entering the property?
Unfortunately there is far too much I don't know to answer this question. I don't know whether your alarm system is integratable with Amazon and I don't know if that can start an Amazon routine.
If that can start an Amazon routine then it is possible, but the speed of it coming up on the screen will be dependant on the camera you use and how that is interfaced with Alexa again
Does Amazon Echo Show come with premium sound smart and home hub like that Echo dot?
In the 8 and 10, you'll find the sound quality much better than an Echo Dot. The 10 is probably the most well-rounded speaker in the Echo lineup period, with only the Echo 4th Generation and the Echo Studio having sound quality that's near or better.

You can, and there's now an option to shut off screens based on inactivity too
I have a dot (bedroom) echo show 5 (lounge) & echo show 8. I use the 8 in my kitchen, mainly for music. I’ve been thinking of getting a new one, but I’m worried that the show 10 won’t be any better than the 8 !

Both are fantastic speakers. You can't really make a wrong decision here. So that's good news!
I think it comes down to screen. Echo Show 10 has a rotating screen (which you probably won't use rotation long term on), and that's definitely a nice way to see news and information, plus to control your home or music by hand. The Echo Studio is really just a speaker, but a great one. It does pair with Fire TVs as a Home Theater speaker though (and you can even have 2 do that), so that's a great option there. You cannot do the Home Theater thing with Echo Shows.
As for going from Echo Show 8 to 10, I think the audio upgrade is there. The screen is there too. And I think it looks nicer. But that's a big jump in price...so worth it? You'll have to judge from this video!

No you'd have to open YT and search from there, or you could ask for music through Amazon Music or Spotify
Can it work like a security device when you are not around & record while you are away so you can view activity/sounds later? Or is it only able to do live view of motion & sounds?
You can run routines off of people being detected in a space. No recording occurs. The people detection is by no means perfect, so I wouldn't consider this a security device.

In general, yes. Before you go buying though, get the Amazon Photos app and upload your photos there that you want to. See if you hit a limit that you need Prime for. :)
Then there are settings for displaying that.

Nope. No way, no how will I ever be suckered into another show device until amazon gives us back control of the screen content. I no longer trust them and that's sad because I really wanted the new show 10.

Which echo allows you to call for help? Say you fall, can you say Alexa call for help?
I don't believe there's a restriction as to which Echo or Echo Show allows you to do this. I believe the restriction is that you're in the USA. Not sure it's available anywhere else right now.
I have echo show only for time and other stuff but not videos or CZcams I watch CZcams on phone

There are two speakers in there, but to be honest, they're so close together it just doesn't matter. It's not "real" stereo so to speak.

I replaced a an echo dot with a show 5 for the bedside. Not happy at all with the microphone array, spend more of our time yelling at it, it’s deaf!
That's a little odd. It shouldn't be deaf. You may have a noise source like a fan or something blowing on it

The Echo Shows have to connect to a WiFi network. That's all they need.
A friend bought Echo 10 because she could not get it to work. I plugged it in and Echo is on the screen. Do I need to plug it into something else. Need instructions for setup.

Much better speaker though, and Alexa response on tablets has been traditionally much worse of an experience. So it's what you're looking for in a device.
