- It was on September 27, 1989, that Dariusz Dziekanowski scored four goals for Celtic in a 5-4 win over Partizan Belgrade, but the Hoops still went out of Europe on away goals following the epic 6-6 aggregate score.
Dziekanowski signed for Celtic earlier that season on July 14 from Legia Warsaw and it wasn’t long before he was christened ‘Jacki’ by supporters.
The Pole quickly became a cult hero with the Celtic fans and although his three years with the club may not have overflowing with games, goals or medals for the striker, he certainly caught the attention of the fans - and the media.

only time i ever cried at a football game . sat in the middle of the jungle at full time with my friend mossy ,tears streaming down my face.
You can tell it’s a big celtic game when Barry Davies is commentating and it’s on nationwide tv.
Remember listening to it on the radio back in Belfast as a 9 year old with my da who went mental when they scored late on
It's the best match I've ever been to. I remember at one point holding my hands over my ears cause it was soooo loud and also remember guys roundabout me arguing if we were through to the next round or do we need another goal. Even now when I see some of there goals go in, I still feel my heart sinking but fantastic game to experience. Miss the jungle. 😢

Dziekanowski....another Polish Legend....we had that time Urban,Kosecki,Furtok and Dziekanowski...insane strikers....and we couldn't qualify to WC or EC till 2002🤔🤔🤔....we had so many great players in late 80s and 90s....hmmmI am buffled.

This game is remembered for Jackie’s goals but it showed our gullibility aswell.I was in the jungle,what you don’t see in those highlights is that Joe Miller had ball down right wing & elected to shoot which gave their keeper the ball to launch out to start move for Partisan winner.Should’ve held it in corner 🙄The ups n downs of being a CELTIC fan eh,love it hail hail 🍀🍀
