"The Pit and the Pendulum" is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe and first published in 1842 in the literary annual The Gift: A Christmas and New Year's Present for 1843. The story is about the torments endured by a prisoner of the Spanish Inquisition, though Poe skews historical facts. The narrator of the story describes his experience of being tortured. The story is especially effective at inspiring fear in the reader because of its heavy focus on the senses, such as sound, emphasizing its reality, unlike many of Poe's stories which are aided by the supernatural. The traditional elements established in popular horror tales at the time are followed, but critical reception has been mixed. The tale has been adapted to film several times.

Had my headphones on half asleep while watching this and the rock music had me SHOOK! OMFG
Did you like it?
Yes! It was impossible for me to read the online version and then I found this and was able to comprehend every aspect of the story, especially with the inclusion of subtitles! I got 89% on my assessment.
I'm glad this work has helped you. Thanks.

I laughed so hard at the rock music it wasnt the worst choice but very interesting
no one expects the Spanish inquisition
Poe's literary works always mirror the bizarre thoughts something close to Dark world's of mystery..

So no one wondering why they pushed this darkness on us at such a young age ????? Lol
We watched this in English II my sophomore year
I was not expecting the final movement of Beethoven's piano "Moonlight" sonata being played by a rock band! I loved it!
I love it. It is an amazing way in which reading a book becomes in something really funny.
Such a masterful animation and voicing to a masterpiece by Poe! Kudos! The incorporation of classical music worked well too! :)
thanks
I earlier felt, this is a overrated story by Poe, I have read various audiobook on YT but none give me feel, the vibes like-- It's truly some expectional piece of writing. But, This Video, it's animation, the bleak ambience with music, colour, painting, rats, pits and Pendulum. It's more than experiencing of a story. Thanks a lot, for making this video. It is expectional, rare piece of Art on YT. Love 💝🥰💫✨✨
thanks 😊
That moonlight sonata 👌👌😂😂😂
Today in school someone showed me this and now I got more than half of the questions for the test correct thanks to this XD
Very good. thanks
Fabulously done! I show this to my 5th grade students each year in late October when we do a brief and timely unit on Edgar Allen Poe! Thanks! Great animation, combined with a wonderful spoken rendition!

Hello to anyone in Ms.Mandigo's class
Add intense piano music instead of rock
Loved the rock! Great job!
when he is free from the straps and is observing the walls and the figures, the narrator mentioned something about Color. at first I thought it was the color of the blood from the rats. but now i am thinking that now since the room is bright and he is no longer forcefully prone in position he really is observing what is on the walls (ie: demon and torment carvings). Am I assuming right?
EDIT: Wrote this while not viewing a couple seconds forward where it explains the enkindled structure (which i assume was what he meant by color). anyway great video!
The color was gaining a lustrous aspect, as it was being heated by fire, I suppose, then reached the point of ember. You made a good interpretation of it. Thanks
Who would have thought a 3 year old CZcams comment would help me with my English assignment. Thanks!
@@samlynn7681 You’re welcome! Would be interesting to read what you wrote. Good luck!
The blade made a "hissing" sound and not that annoying screeching sound

I wanna play a game
What bits are cut out exactly?
Wait I just came here to find what the loot of the story is 😭😭
I don't remember the seven candles & everything else in this tale word for word from Poe's short story so is everything word for word??? Because I might have read a version that has been tampered with & re written so plz tell me if I'm right or if the version u are reciting is a re written version
Probably your reading was from an abridged version of the tale. This version of the animation is original.
This is such a goofy animation that random rock music 😂
is their any more of these that are animated like this?

Silent Hill 4 The Room Resting Comfortably
Literate Louse thank you
“Lozerenge” “resistilly”
Is this the same as the book?
Yes. Same story, with a few cuts.
The creaking sounds ruined it for me. Was a great storytelling until unending nail on chalkboard sound ruined everything.
nice! but the gross errors of narration detract from the enjoyment of the story.
such as?
Why a shofar ?? What kind of deep meanings are in your choice?
The soundtrack was chosen by the sonority, and not by the meaning. This part of the story calls for a trumpet sound, I put the sound of a trumpet. I was not aware that it was a shofar, the deep meaning is at the discretion of the viewer. Thank you.
What are these songs? They are some famous composer's work turned into a rock song, but I cannot figure out whose. ??
Never mind. It's Moonlight Sonata, Third Movement. :)
@@tstoddart5540 The other song is a tribute to Vivaldi.

Sorry, my friend. The music is Silent Hill 4 The Room Resting Comfortably Extended. By the way, almost all of the soundtrack used in this animation was taken off silent hill. Thank you friend.
