  • BEFORE YOU COMMENT, PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO TILL THE END. This is not a forum for DEBATE or to argue opinions. There is a lot of TRUTH contained in this episode of REAL TALK with Jordan Riley.
You will hear from John MacArthur and some serious christian reaction from what God's Word says in the Bible. Because of a recent video I did on Mar Mari Emmanuel who says that getting tattoos is a sin and i showed it wasn't many people got very upset and wanted to argue the point, so I made this video so we can see what the Bible says instead of focus on our emotions and our opinions.
Make sure that no matter what you take the time to pray about this issue if you are ever considering getting a tattoo. Just because we can do things doesn't always mean we should.
Give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed watching 👍

If many unbelievers don’t do tattoos then how much more we as believers should not get one and be a light to the world!!!!
Bible doesn’t say many things that are still sin regardless how you spin it.
It comes down to morality and relationship with God.
Please bro don’t be a hypocrite and play it in the middle!
      It’s either black or white!!
If you got tatoos before you got saved then I don’t care but if you get one after then there’s some huge question marks about your morals.

God's word is the same from the beginning to the end. What was written in the original Covenant still applies today in the renewed Covenant, not a different Covenant but the same for all believers. As believers we are the Spiritual descents of Abraham, not separate in the law but the same.

I have several tattoos from before I was a Bible believing Christian. I would never get another one now. I find most believers who want to to say it’s okay to do is because they want to get a tattoo just like ones who wanted to defend drinking or say well it’s allowed. I think we all do better to just focus on Christ and our testimonies. And yes, technically you’re allowed to get a tattoo if you wanna put it that way or you’re allowed to drink. Roman’s 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Why is the obvious missed? Back then it was wrong because it was culturally associated with paganism( the world ). The same is true today.Tattoos, particularly before this age where they've become so prolific, were the Mark of the rebel, the tough,(bikers , soldiers, outsiders)of those who just don't care about anything - except letting everyone know this - This is who I want you to think I am and please look at and notice me. Let Christ's sheep be concerned with GOD'S Glory and how we show what of HIM is really within us by actions and not be focused as the Pharisees were on drawing attention to outward displays of who they wanted you to think they were. Bottom line I think is this - This has always been of the world, why then are we so determined to justify and embrace it? When the love of the world is death and will make us an enemy of GOD? AMEN?? P.S.- Press on brother, I love what you're doing for our LORD👍 BTU--- RUSS

Tatoos are neither here nor there to me....I don't have them, don't like them, don't want one. However, many people I know got tattoos in their younger years and then regretted it later in their adult years after they became Christians. You are correct about picking and choosing how we will allow certain things and disallow others. I think, though, some things have certain connotations to many, and are more visible---e.g., tattoos. No one thinks hard of anyone who trims his beard, lol, and that act may be more socially acceptable than a tattoo is to someone else. I think Todd Friel says it best.....it is not sinful, but it may hinder a witness. Thanks, as always, Jordan....you have given us much food for thought on a prickly (for some) modern subject!

"Body Art" by definition draws extraordinary effort to beautify and adorn one's flesh. Seems closely related to Paul's exortation for women not to go to extravagant measures in adorning their hair with elaborate braids and gold but instead, to focus on humble quiet spirits.
It appears that tattoos literally illustrates the vain occupation of sewing to one's flesh.
So, why would believers seek after habits and mimcry of cultural fads?

As someone who had four tattoos, I've never regretted any of them. I remember growing up as a kid I've always wanted a cross so a month after I turned 18 I got a Celtic Cross on my arm. I enjoyed it so much I got a shamrock tattooed on my forearm a month later. I got saved later that year and didn't get another tattoo for 13 years. For my mother's 50th birthday, my sister, my brother, and I all got tattoos of elephants. Then finally, being an avid hiker, I got a tattoo of a quote that reminds me of my love for the outdoors. It all depends on your conviction whether it's a sin or not, one thing I will say is that tattoos are a trigger for me. That means having an addictive mentality, I've seen it reach out in different areas, one such area involves tattoos.

    • @frillylily8005

Dude the Celtic cross is pagan in orgin whole a regular cross is not pagan. The Celtic cross aka sun cross
Before Christianity, pagans used the Celtic cross, also known as the Sun Cross or Sun Wheel, to worship the sun. The circle around the cross's four arms is thought to represent the sun and its life-giving properties. Some believe the circle represents Invictus, the Roman sun god, or Jesus Christ's halo.

Hi Jordan Riley awesome video amazing work. Who was God talking to in Leviticus 19?
    Moses
“The LORD spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them: You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy” (Leviticus 19:1-2). Leviticus 19 contains instructions from the Lord to Moses, and they are addressed to the entire community of Israel.
The closing chapters of Leviticus focus on laws that defined how one under the Mosaic law lived righteously and in a manner pleasing to God. Leviticus ends with essentially the same message with which it began, namely, the all-important admonition that men are to be holy, even as God is holy.
God told the people of Israel how to live and to abstain from pagan worship and traditions. These old testament laws are of Torah is the old covenant we as Christians are under the covenant which is what Jesus has done for us on the cross. awesome video keep preaching the Gospel. All blessings to you in Jesus name amen ✝️✝️💞💞

I always approach the issue of tattoos as that even though whether you believe that the bible says no, yes or is neutral, why do you need a tattoo? Because whether is a person, a memory, an idea, a belief and you live it... what's the need of a tattoo? You can mark your body up and down and not believe any of it. I personally would never get a tattoo as they seem very worldly to my conscience, but I am not opposed 100% to them. I know people who have gotten tattoos that would not be a sin based on content and location, and I know people who have gotten sinful tattoos, oftentimes it’s the content for men and the placement for women.

Other tattoo issue considerations. If you get a cut, scrape, or have an open wound, it may be difficult for a healthcare provider to visualize lymphangitis, an infection where a single or double parallel reddish colored line is visable just under the skin layer and heading (being drawn) in the direction of the nearest lymph nodes. Typically, a blood infection from the wound area has developed, like a Staph infection. It can be life threatening, if not treated properly. A tetanus shot may be needed, along with oral, topical or IV antibiotics and wound cleansing and warm as you can stand water mixed with dish soap and salt soaks for feet, toes, ankles, hands, fingers, forearms and elbows to draw out the infection. Other issues are non sterile tattoo needles and ink being utilized. Poor hygiene of tattoo artist and parlor and the fact that tattoos fade and discolor after 5 years and the image becomes wrinkled and deformed as one ages. Is the Christian individual doing it to be noticed, cool, hip and trendy (a narcissistic compulsion) that serves no purpose in the glorification of Christ and God's Kingdom. Could the money be spent better serving God and your personal and family needs? These things all need to be seriously considered. From an overall health perspective it is not recommended.

All my tattoos point to the cross. Now does that make me saved? No. My salvation is grace alone through faith alone. Gods law will be written on my heart.
But people who argue tattoos are sinful never read the story peter and the vision in the book of Acts.
Do not call anything unclean that Christ has made clean.
Be wary lest Christ condemn you as a Pharisee.

    Im not sure about this.
The levitical laws were to present israel as holy as god would dwell and be with them.
Isnt there also that a man wearing women's clothing, or a women wearing mens clothing (cross dressing) an abomination.
As you are not under the law then all things are permissable as a Christian and then you wearing women's clothing and 💄💋 makeup is therefore not a sin?
We are told to be in the world and not of the world.
Crossdressing, tatoos and other forms of self indulgence are not the image a Christian should be portraying in my view.
It's not that its a sin. But that it is worldliness which we are to leave behind when following christ.
As we are to portray his image to others and not our own.
I dont see humility as overindulgence in fleshly body image displays.
    Anyway, i lovingly disagree...
I hope you dont take my comment as hostile... Really im just feeling this way, thats all.
    I have a small pre-Christian tattoo of a yin, ☯️ yang.
I feel marked to another belief and i want to have it removed.
I know its only a meaningless thing, but i would feel sanctified no longer being marked in this way.

But in the ancient Middle East, the writers of the Hebrew Bible forbade tattooing. Per Leviticus 19:28, “You shall not make gashes in your flesh for the dead, or incise any marks on yourselves.” Historically, scholars have often understood this as a warning against pagan practices of mourning.

thank you for this jordan. I think that the fact that many Christians, even on here, who are so stuck in their ways on this subject in a judgemental sense are actually the ones in the wrong here, not the ones that have them, n u can tell who they are in their tone. Hear me out. I have tattoos, even my hands from before I got saved n im not getting more but that doesnt matter. I've been judged by numerous Christians because I have them and felt outcasted by past churches because of it without ever being given the opportunity to ever be known inwardly. I had a church security guard/deacon follow me to my car because I felt sick and needed to lay down in the middle of service one day because I have crohns disease and He assumed i was a thief (this was a year ago n id been going to that church for 7 years) Why was that? Do you think that they follow every person that walks out the door? He literally told me He'd followed me because there had been a lot of cars broken into recently, does He assume everyone may be the thief or does he pick n choose for "certain reasons". Maybe instead of judging outward appearance, you should check your heart because as long as you remain in the place you are you will be a hindrance to others living for the Lord, and many times people who had just started going. The judgement has had no effect on my relationship with God, i'd even confronted the security guard/deacon about it and man's opinion is not God's but people being so judgemental about it are a hindrance to the connection of the body that is connected by ONE THING...Christ, and not disconnected by ink. (edit: to be clear, I dont have a single evil tattoo, so thats not even part of this)

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
      - Romans 1:18-23
There it clearly states that God reveals Himself to ALL humanity since the very beginning of creation through His creation SO THAT nobody can use the excuse "we never knew...."
