    My OW instructors were Tech divers, so they tought us the frog kick. At the time, I thought this was the norm, until i dove with strangers! Lol

      Lucky you ! We believe that this should be in every standard open water level curriculum.

    • @YZFoFittie

      @flowstatedivers they also taught single hand communication, primarily air pressure. On my 20-something dive, I dove with all new buddies who were trained on something else. It wasn't until the DM asked me my psi and gave me a strange look that I found out there's, "other systems." We got to the surface and he told me, "I have no idea what those hands signals meant, but you had a Perdix II and were super squared away so I assumed as long as you were looking at it and giving me alien signals you knew you were good". I asked him, wtf kind of hands comm's they used for numbers and he showed me some confusing number of fingers on the forearm thing that made no sense. Lol

      Thanks Remco ! Some of the 3 letter agencies (except SSI) having this and other essential propulsion techniques in their basic course structure tho :) Regardless, all self conscious divers should be using the basic 4

    • @cavediver2579
      @cavediver2579 Před 11 měsíci +3

      @@K3T1 That is correct, I don’t tech the flutter kick. Nobody is GIVEN anything if they choose to take a class with me, and 90% of the divers I am teaching are planning to go on to become cave divers. The frog kick is simple to learn if it is taught properly. And having taught around 4-500 open water divers in my time as an instructor, I have only failed a handful. It’s usually more than just the frog kick that will fail them.

    As both freediver and scuba diver
    I tried to learn frog kick for efficiency,
    But cant handle the way how inelegantly the kick looks 🤣
    So I go back to freediver style flutter kicks.
    Ended up Only use frog kick in tight space wrecks and caves.

    Does frog kick require positively buoyant fins or it doesn't matter, you should hold the starting position from your knees?

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The buoyancy characteristics of your fins have to be aligned with your physical attributes, it has nothing to do with propulsion techniques. Fin is just an aid, technique is key.

    I’m trying my best to do a frog kick and I’m doing kinda well even my last instructor told me that but I get very tired. Am I doing something wrong? He told me that I need to get used to. But for me is very hard, physically speaking. I see every DM etc doing a frog kick because you sucks less air, you have a better trim etc and it’s true but why i am so exhausted after a while? :(

    • @flowstatedivers
      @flowstatedivers  Před 11 měsíci +3

      Hey, thanks for reaching out. This can be for a number of reasons.. one of the most common mistakes is dropping the knees or doing it flat' footed. Get your buddy to record you trying the frog kick during your next session and send the footage over to us to (info@flowstatedivers.com). We will review what you currently do and suggest you how to fix it, based on what we see.
