After many sleepless nights, I finally finished this compilation, just in time too, before I leave for vacation. The emphasis here is on vocals, so I've cut out a lot of the dancing (though not to worry, as I have a dancing compilation planned soon). I hope you all enjoy the clips I've selected. I didn't expect this to be anywhere near as long as what it is, but I have so many favorites, it can be really hard to choose.
Also, no need to bring up other artists, as most people do in comment sections for videos like these, because this is all about Janet. (:

She CAN sing. All touring modern artist with heavy choreography and elaborate staging uses pre recorded tracks. Every artist does it different. Some use them for chorus but sing the verses live. Some use them every other show(one live, the next pre recorded to preserve their voice.) Some use it on bridges and climax notes.
With Janet she alternates. One song will be live. The next may be pre recorded. Rhythm Nation Tour she alternated. Some shows all the way live. Some pre recorded. Velvet Rope tour was a mixture of live. Her most recent tour State of The World was 90% live.
The thing with J is she sounds exactly the same between recordand stage. I catch myself saying "that shit ain't live" then I hear breath or a change in inflection and arrangement and its obvious it is. Janet may not be the greatest vocalist of all time but she is a singer!!!! And probably one of the best dancers and performers to ever so it. And at the end of the day, this lady is a kind human being.

Janet’s got a very high set, light instrument. Her vocal super powers are timing and delivery. She has quite a big range to play with, is a great lyricist and the tone of her voice sounds beautiful layered.
Saying she can’t sing is all the way stupid. Her voice may not be for you personally, but she’s got some of the best jams ever. Try and imagine ‘pleasure principal’, ‘that’s the way love goes’, ‘control’ or ‘if’ with anyone else singing them.

People make me sick, Miss Jackson can sing period, Anytime she can sing live and do it well just like any other entertainer she’s going to do so. All touring acts use pre-recorded vocals including All the legends that have a huge Catalog. Janet has always taken care of her voice and it grew and got stronger over the years, vocal progression. She is a true artist, she’s not going to lip sync everything but will do so when necessary. Also Janet emerged before auto tuned, she definitely can out sing all of the ladies who want to be like her such as JLO Britney Ciara and Aaliyah voice is extremely similar to Janet and that’s why she loves her the most they can hit those angelic soulful high notes that the other cannot do at all, y’all better put some respect ✊🏾 on her name. Janet is as real and authentic as you can get. She can still slay it right now and anytime. She won’t be caught dead giving a bad performance and you can’t find one. People that have boarded "The Hate Train", please take Several Stadium 🏟️ Seats.... Here it goes ( Again), most shows, especially TV Shows in the 80's especially, didn't want "Live Vocals".... American Bandstand, Soul Train, and Dance Party USA for example didn't want to ruin the fans/ listeners experience, especially from dance artists. It's crazy how other artists started all the hate because they knew of this practice. Legendary, and Iconic, "Teenager For Life", 'Dick Clark' required all his performers/artists on his show, broadcasts ( Even The New Years Eve) to lip sync/Mime ( Some word that became a word The UK folks came up with to bash Janet,...Which sucks because she resides in The UK....Elton and them on some Hate Train...)...It's funny how other shows went out of their way to showcase live vocals and would end up crashing.... Dick knew what he was doing ... People need to leave Jan alone....She Is A Living Legend!!!!

The problem with so many artists is they overly produce their studio vocals, so when live sound nothing like the recording, whereas if you hear Michaels and Janet's their vocals are pretty much left alone so when they sing live they sound no different and people say lipsynch. Now do they yes they do and I kinda feel cheated especially kn Michael's last tour. But....
Her early career live performances are obvious when she is singing live. But later on she started depending heavily on them backing tracks. I understand why people say she can't sing, whispers or is lip synching. As a huge fan I question it myself. But in her earlier vids she is clearly singing live. That Rhythm Nation Tour is live to live and that's why it's my favorite. But she still my girl.

Here's the thing, Janet does in fact lip-sync during her tours. Jimmy Jam said it himself that she in fact does. He said that she has a certain move that only she and her sound techs knows that she uses when she's ready to take a "break" from singing live. She will lip-sync for a little bit and then when she is ready, she will use that same move to let them know when she's ready to sing live again. Nobody knows when she's doing it because she's that good at it.

I HAVE NEVER HEARD a interview of Jimmy Jam or anyone saying she lip syncs , of couse they play background vocals as everyone does especially in concerts . Some people just want to discredit Janet's AMAZING TALENT.
When it comes to performing the dance songs, Janet is not singing; vocal tracks are used. There would be heavy breathing and panting. As for Janet performing her ballads, that would be her actual voice. Overall, Janet is a TRIPLE threat: singer, dancer, and actress. 🎤 🎶 📻 📺 🎥

Janet is one of the greatest lip singers ever period. Janet is legendary in the touring game for pre recording new vocals very few pulls it off like janet. Janet in several tours, have proving she can sing /dance and performs her show lives with no lipping !!
Mariah carey we all know can blow and is just an incredible artists and complex vocalists. Is notorious for bad lip singing and deceptively lipping climaxes in certian songs. And lately mariah has been pre recording vocals which in my opion is awesome because your not lipin what your voice sounded like 20 years ago and you did but in some work.

I have absolutely nothing against Janet but I do question why she never performs live on Arsenio hall because he required that it be live no tracks or auto sound.And she never performed on Divas live.Other singers have made statements without saying her name saying she can’t sing and her concerts are all prerecorded and she rehearsed it all so it fools the audience into thinking they are actually seeing a live concert.If I am wrong with this I am truly sorry.Because I do think she works extremely hard but she is known for her incredible dancing and not for singing
