In this video series, I'm going to show you how I turned a bicycle I found in the garbage into a cargo electric bike.
In this video, I show you how I turned a bicycle I found in the garbage into a electric cargo bike. I originally planned to just fix up the bike and use it as a regular bicycle, but then I decided to make it more versatile and practical by adding an electric motor, a battery pack, a cargo rack, and some other accessories. This way, I can use it for commuting, shopping, or just cruising around town with ease.
I will take you through the whole process of transforming this bike from trash to treasure. You will see how I cleaned up the frame, replaced the tires and brakes, installed the motor kit and wiring system, mounted the battery and controller, attached a custom cargo rack system and front "basket", and tested everything out on the road.

This project has become quite complicated and complex over time because I usually end up coming up with more and more ideas as I build. I've received some criticism about "not knowing what I'm doing" but this is the nature of creating something, especially in this way. Sure you can spend weeks and months and years even researching and planning to make something that is unique, but even with all that, you will always find issues and things that you need to workaround and change your mind about. Even mass production scale with huge teams of people dedicated towards research and development still run into problems that simply changing the design is the best plan of action.
This is part one of many from transforming this bike into a usable and capable electric cargo bike.
