Doug, to be fair... Lakers didn't just hire Darvin Ham... they hired a first year coach and all the growing pains that come with it... if a team signs off on a first year coach, they are investing the coach long-term... in this case, a new head coach got fired for not being a veteran head coach, lol

In which the board was taken away from the coach, and placed into LeBron James hands and LeBron James Drew up the play.

And David Blatt made it to the NBA Finals in 2015, and was fired the next season 20 games over .500. And he was apparently so "undeserving" of being fired, he never coached in the NBA again. Imagine that. Darvin getting to the WCF is mesningless.
Teams can have a level of success in spite of the coach in certain instances. It has been demonstrated.

It was a very poor hire from the start. Not to belittle Ham, but I didn’t think he was very smart…street smarts, sure, but not a guy of high intellect. Additionally, he’s gruff and aloof, so culturally the fit with the org was never going to work. Certainly LBJ signed off on the termination as any superstar would, but there didn’t appear to be counterbalancing opinion to retain him or any sort. BTW, I’m not a Lakers fan. This was a trainwreck from the start despite the IST title and 2023 conference finals run.

Lebron is not as bright as you say. He had 245 turnovers for the lakers 70 more than AR which was second on the team. He is the leading all time NBA leader in turnovers with 5211 and counting. Compare to Kobe with 4010. Lebron led the lakers in turnovers in the playoffs. Turnovers is the worst stat to lead in.
Kobe played a lot less games with a lot less assists
