This week I submerged Vader’s lightsaber in resin. The blade is made from an LED filament and the handle is from a 1:12 scale Vader from Bandai.

Number 1 mistake I always see with resin is not using quality products, not using a vaccum or pressure chamber when it can easily be used.

I love it it, looks like Vaders Saber dropped into water and sat perfectly straight into a rock

Another way to look at this beautiful piece is that the resin bubbles kind of make it look like it's a rock in the middle of a shallow lake, or on the shore of an ocean, or even the edge of a waterfall which I think just makes it look all that much cooler. Fantastic work, this definitely deservers a subscribe!!

Oddly enough I like the bubbles, when it's dark kind of adds an effect to the whole scene.

the 'submerged in resin' models look really cool
You can use a wood hole saw to cut a clean circle in the cork, then use your rotary tool to carve out the inside. Super clean.

But in all seriousness, I would absolutely love this more than anything Darth Vader for my entire life has always been my favorite villain, and seeing this just is super incredible. As much as I want it I know I won't likely get it. But they cant blame a guy for trying.
the big bubble along with the saber and the smaller bubbles at the hilt looks good as if the saber is boiling water away.

"this is not very realistic" this is actually very realistic, if you remember in scenes where they are cutting through doors and such they actually have to thrust the saber into the door and the door resists as the cut the hole in it, if they just let go i imagine it'd just sit there..sticking out of the door, maybe slowly making its way down
Indeed. It also happens with a droid in Episode Ii. During the battle of Geonosis a Jedi impales a droid and it malfunctions and hangs from the saber (not being cut in half, just hangs). Pretty neat.

If you want your lightsaber to stick up in a rock, make sure you pick a good sized chunk of magnetite. It interacts with the containment field to levitate the blade, although I've never been able to get it balanced long enough to stay for more than a few seconds.
The beauty in the simplicity of the work is amazing, you are a artist in every word.

This is not very realistic, but it sure does look awesome. I love the whole Excalibur vibe it has, since both the sword and Darth Vader were part of a mysterious prophecy.

This is not very realistic... Nevertheless, it's just as Qui-gon had once said “Your focus determines your reality.” Ergo we must focus harder in order for the model to look more "Realistic" or the way we want it to look like.
The purists will be exclaiming "This is not very realistic." But that is what makes art fun, taking the unrealistic and making it look just so darn amazing... Well done sir.
