    Thanks for the video man, I got one of these recently and took me a few tattoos to have a bit more confidence to push enough for lining. Nice to hear your tips on shading with it, I haven't gave it a go yet because I as worried about the 5mm stroke being too much, but going to try it out soon 🤟

      Sick man! it's definitely a big learning curve coming from a more accessible (for lack of a better word) stroke length. You've just got to start soft and build your way up when you start shading with it, reeeeally soft!

    got the bishop wand shader because of recommendation, excellent for us beginners. maybe i'll get the liner when i get better

    Great video as always it’s surprising to see you using it for the shading as well what about lines with 3l are you using different machine for that?

    • @jasonjamessmithart
      @jasonjamessmithart  Před rokem +1

      Thanks! No, I’m just slowly my hand down, same depth and volts, with the king throw. A lot of the time of shade and line at the same time, so the lines and shades aren’t separated

    Yo man if u like the bishop liner. And need a mag shader get the bishop shader. I have all 3 and man are they killer.

      I’m contemplating the packer for everything other than lines, I’ve heard it’s a good work horse for most other techniques. What do you recon?

    • @Max-dm3vg
      @Max-dm3vg Před rokem

      @@jasonjamessmithart i have all 3. I started using the packer 4 lining and some shading. But once I got used to the liner I put it away and used the shader. I use the shader 4 smooth shading at 8.4 v and packing black at 9v. And man does it go from smooth 2 powerful. So if u have the liner I'd get the shader. Up2u bro

      What voltage do you run for the liner

    I'm surprised you didn't check out the Cheyenne Sol Nova Unlimited 5mm. The nice part is that it's pretty short and it uses a battery that looks like a fat AA that slides into the middle of the machine. Keeps the weight towards the tip and the machine is smaller since you don't have some big ass battery pack hanging off the end. It also comes with 2 batteries that are rechargeable, the charger, and if the battery ever dies they are only $6 to replace. Highly recommend checking it out, I've been running it since it came out and it's glorious.

      At the time I was picking a new machine, I’m pretty sure that wasn’t released. Defo down for trying anything new. The fact it takes AA is brilliant for cost, replacing these battery packs is a nightmare

      I had (have) the Xion, bar a burn out and drawn out return process, loved it.
      I had (have) the sol nova unlimited 3.5.. loved it
      However.. took a gamble in the Packer.. absolutely loved it.. all other machines pretty much became redundant.. on a slow speed it's great dor soft shading even though 4.2
      Having been so satisfied I considered the shader.. but though 🤔 I've got shaders.. then considered the Liner.. but felt Lil anxious about a 5ml stroke.. ended up buying it anyway..
      At first (like Jason) I didn't like it.. it seemed to slow me down strangely.. but what I did notice on the times I used it, when the clients returned, the lines were super crisp and saturated.. which if we're all honest, the standard rotaries can let us down on a Lil at times..
      I persisted and ended up falling in love with it.. I find 7.5v is the right spot for my hand.. the needle seems to spend enough time in the skin and I can move at a pace I like..
      I love the Cheyenne products.. but personally, I just much prefer the Shape of the Bishop in my hand.. the sol nova just wasn't anywhere near as comfortable for me.. the way my hand wraps around the Bishop gives me such fantastic control of the machine..
      So.. after years of being conformed to FK or Cheyenne.. I an now on a different ship.. onv ill buy other machines in future, but the Bishop wand range really will take something special to beat em..
      I'd love to see the higher end manufacturers do something like the dragon mast tour Pro machine.. I've not got one and I suspect the motors may not have longevity.. but they've done an adjustable stroke, on the fly from 2.4 to 4.2.. at 250 quid.. so it can be done
      Me thinks maybe the high end manufacturers won't use this tech though as it could set a precedent from their customers to expect it.. and they prob like us buying multiple machines 😂😂😂
      Great review

      @@djs9315 Interesting, ive not heard of the dragon mast tour pro machine? where can you buy/ read about those? tbh you're probably right, why sell a machine that can do all the stroke length when you can make three times the money and sell three with fixed strokes haha.
      high five on the v7.5, itys my sweet spot too!

    • @djs9315
      @djs9315 Před rokem

      @@jasonjamessmithart there's a review on it from several artists.. the one I watched was a guy called..
      Chris Ravage - Dragonmast tour Pro
      He's a Bishop lover.. but rates that machine apparently..
      I never know whether tgese review guys,are getting something out of promoting the machines there sent, so I guess I'm one of life dubious types.. but I guess my point is the tech is do-able.. If Bishop released a machine that the stroke coukd be changed like that.. 2.4ml to 4.2ml.. on the fly.. I'd buy it tomorrow.

      Good to add that that sol jova unlimited uses 5,0 uses same motor as bishop liner;) but liner is 6v winded and sol nova 12v, thats why sol nova handles better low voltages
