Downton was actually set in 1914-25 so it was just after the Victorian era
well, yes but Victorian etiquette still stayed pretty much up to scratch until WWI messed everything up ^^ also Mallory said she got her dress in the 1800s, so I didn't think anyone would mind my saying Victorian era :D but regardless you are indeed correct!

Not only Victorian England, wearing hats inside is rude anywhere especially when you are a guest to another household. While entering a place, taking your hat off means respect.

They actually did a great job keeping straight faces in this sketch. Jason has said that he will purposely get reeeaaally close to Matt's face in order to try and get him to break character, but this time Matt held his own like a champ! Even when Jason accidentally clipped Whitney's face when he glove-slapped Matt they stayed completely in character.

Really? I just looked it up and from what I've heard it's... not a roast, although I wouldn't put that past Shakespeare. It does maybe focus a little more on the poetry than on the subject, but not a roast.
No not really a roast, at least not that I can interpret (unless of course you roasting Mother Nature herself) the gist is pretty much “do you want me to compare you to summer time because you dominate hands down in every category. In fact when you get old and start to kick the bucket EVEN DEATH is gonna have mixed feelings about it”.
Anyone who works outside will tell you that being compared to a summer day is not a compliment.

It blows my mind that Matt didn’t break character when he put his nose under Jason’s chin.
4:16 is where stuff gets truly LEGIT.
While obviously overdone, Matt's character is treating the ladies as he should. Often most don't appreciate the worth of women, or people, for that matter. And I think that is why the audience cheered when Matt rebuked James for his disrespect. Because they know how a lady should be treated even if everyone doesn't always act on it.
Yes that part reminded me of the movie "Kate and Leopald", you should watch it if you haven't already.

I always say, when I see a lady, I'll treat her like one. Many people don't set themselves at a very high standard due to the wonderful day and age we all live in, and as a result easy times creates lazy people, and therfore creates bad times. Which then create good people.
