One more that has been forgotten is the MECCA in Milwaukee. The Bucks original home still stands and is in use today as it is the home arena for the UW-Milwaukee Panthers and called Milwaukee Panthers Arena. A little fun fact about the St. Louis new football stadium renderings: I remember doing a riverboat cruise tour in St. Louis in early 2015, and I remember the tour guides specifically mentioning "over there is where the city of St. Louis has planned a new football stadium for the Rams that is scheduled to be completed some time in the next 4-5 years". FIRST Robotics has used it yearly in the earl to late 2010'a for their world championship. It seems like there is enough demand to keep it open for now but if they ever got a new NFL team it would probably at best be a temporary home as extensive renovations or a brand new stadium would likely be the requirement by the nfl to move a team there or to get an expansion team.

I'm glad you brought up the STL riverfront stadium that nobody outside St. Louis ever talks about when it comes to the NFL leaving ST. Louis. While it isn't a great stadium for football, it is far better that it be used than it be wasted. I will never attend a Rangers game or other baseball game in the "new" stadium because I thought building it was stupid and unnecessary. Arlington taxpayers are the most gullible people on earth. First, they made Jerry Jones a billionaire, then they succumbed to idiotic arguments of Rangers owners and some fans that they must be inside and "comfortable" to watch baseball. Ever heard of TV? I ran the clock for a couple of football playoff games at the old ballpark in 2020, I think, and it is in a terrible place for football -- at one end of the stadium. Very difficult to see when the ball is being snapped at the other end. However, the officials on the field said it was a good place to work, and I think the teams that have played there feel the same. If UT Arlington ever gets a football team back, that's probably where they'll play, in spite of having a stadium on campus -- that isn't sufficient for D-1 FBS.

They moved because the City of Atlanta owned the stadium and the parking lots, and the property around the stadium.
The Braves asked the City of Atlanta for permission to build an entertainment district around the stadium and the city denied the request.
This, when their lease was set to be up in 2016, they moved for the 2017 season. I imagine they had planned this since around 2011 or 2012 because they went public with the move to Cobb County in 2013. Prior to that time they had secured the land for a new stadium, had architectural plans drawn up for the stadium and entertainment complex, and had spoken to Cobb County officials to seek public funding.
The move allowed the Braves to outright own the stadium, get revenue from concessions and parking, and to build the Battery around the stadium, from which they also get revenue. The Battery bolsters attendance because people have places to dine and hang out before or after the game, so more people want to go to games.
The argument about fan base is correct, but it was more of a secondary argument to give further support or justification for the move to Cobb County.

I will maintain that the Texas Rangers never NEEDED to leave The Ballpark In Arlington - what is now called Choctaw Stadium - because the run they had from 2010-2013 where they won the AL pennant twice and then drew more than 3 million attendance for each of the next two years should have defeated all the arguments about that supposed horrible heat hurting the team. The new place is just terrible, no amount of air conditioned comfort can take away that it's an ugly place built by people who never liked baseball. Ironically, my own high school is one of the teams now playing at The Ballpark/Choctaw as the city of Arlington is doing everything they can to keep the Rangers from tearing it down - the place now hosts two high schools, an XFL team, a minor league soccer club and I believe a pro rugby team.

Panthers Stadium is actually a very cool repurposing. The Georgia State football program is getting better all the time. They have a massive student enrollment and easy admission. It's in Atlanta so recruiting is easy - and hey! It's actually a very good university. That's one that worked out better for everyone. GSU did not have their own field until they moved into Turner Field. And the Braves have set attendance records in their new park about 12 miles from downtown - and it's far easier to get in and out of up there.

Not to be a jerk....but when you were showing the Astrodome, you kept saying Alamodome....
The reason that RFK had not been demoed yet is that there is still a fight over the land that the stadium is built upon. The land that RFK stadium is sitting on actually belongs to the Federal Gov`t Department of the Interior, and the city of Washington DC for several years has been negoating with the Department of the Interior to transfer or sell the land to the city of Washington DC. The only reason that RFK is finally going through the demo process is that the stadium structure has deteriorated to the point that it has become a hazard and unsafe, so the Federal Gov`t has finally Condemed the stadium and it is the Federal Gov`t that has contracted to have the stadium demoed.
Also...while RFK was a 'cookie cutter' era stadium, it was one of the first of its kind build and instead of being a complete Circle, like the former Veterans Stadium and Riverfront Stadium and Three Rivers Stadium, it actually had some shape to it and actually made for a very decent Football Stadium and Baseball Stadium. Unlike the other 'cookie cutter' multipurpose stadiums, RFK had whole sections of seats on railroad tracks that could be pulled out or folded up. With the convertable seating sections, RFK actually formed a nice rectangle for Football and a nice diamond for Baseball.

Did you mean the Astrodome when you were mentioning Alamo Dome for the 2nd time? Also how about the XL Center formerly known as the Harford Civic Center when the Hartford Whalers were in Hartford? That' junk arena is still standing and still in use for minor league hockey. Stilll some old Whalers retired numbers hanging in the Rafters. Also some UCONN Men's' and women's Basketball games are played there as well as Hockey games some times or at least was untill they got their own arena built on the UCONN Campus.
