Huge fan of Cap continually cocking things up and blaming other people for it. Surely if you try and land where everyone else is parking and try to take off between two aircraft, one of whom is vacating to let others land, you deserve exactly what you get

At 23:57, the Hornet is already there. The way he makes it sound was that the Hornet moved after he firewalled his throttles. Sounds to me like he just didn't see it til it was too late. Nonetheless, it's kinda wack to blame the other guy for his own mistake.

A suggestion to rewrite the scenario as GR being "hired by" motif by the WEC; besides buying a carrier (and any odd Soviet/USA ships available), have them buying old naval aircraft (whatever working mods available, any country, just like the aircraft).

Sock may have been slightly high but most guys were hilariously low on the ball - you need some GR LSOs!

I did a rewatch of the various GR DCS WORLD Community Air Shows (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021)..... they are awesome.
Some incredibly talented fliers' solo and in groups. Keep bring the amazing content.

Glad to hear someone had the sense to start calling out instructions for CAP operations and covering GCI duties. I like the scenario...what the whole group would probably benefit from, in terms of operational success, would be to have someone create the campaign scenarios, someone ELSE do the mission planning and be Mission Lead, and delegate flight leads for the specific tasks. Then you don't have the confusion of the free-for-all start and multiple flight elements interfering with each other in landing and take-off at the carrier.
Of course, that involves a level of flight discipline that isn't generally seen in GR missions...😎
It also significantly lowers the entertainment value. CSI: Keystone just wouldn't have the same charm.
23:56 is the Ships deck traffic control fault should have told everyone to hold.
As far as the radar problems go, you were in RWS / LTWS which means that you have to manage the scan volume yourself. 2 bars of elevation is not a lot that close up (45:00) and 140 degree scan takes too long to maintain a track anyway. TWS slews the scan volume automatically if set to auto but may be too complex to set up in the heat of the moment if you're rusty or don't have the DDI buttons set up. I didn't see any issues once you went to STT. 29S does use its jammer when locked but I have no idea how the hornet reacts to it nowadays it since I'm still stuck at 2.5.6.
5:46 - That, Cap, is the base's aircraft fire trainer. Firedogs will light it aflame with jet fuel and try to extinguish it while rescuing passengers inside. The more you know!

@@paulraymond3622 It's not a Russian carrier though, is THE Russian carrier... But there was a short period in the 80s where Pepsi had the 7th largest submarine force in the world - all old Soviet boats.
Yeah...they have to build them before they can sell them, and the Russian Navy was never big on carrier operations. Submarines, destroyers, frigates, cruisers...they made a lot of those...

Keel Hauling.. rope goes underneath the boat and end to the deck... you tie the rope to the sailor and drag him underneath the hull, no shirt, and across all the barnacles.. Mainly done by the Dutch Nave I seem to remember.

watching this carrier ops was almost fun as watching the real thing...CV-64 USS Constillation, 1975. my bunk was on the 03 level directly under the #3 wire. didn't take long to be able to sleep right thru night ops spent lots of time on vultures row.

45:00 I have that issue locking things in the Hornet/Bog all the time and I have no idea why. It drives me up the wall. Any ideas what's happening there anyone?
They were down low and his radar was scanning 140°. Turn your scan area down to 40° and you'll have an easier time. Also, make sure the radar elevation is looking in the right way.
Grump has way different graphics settings than Cap does , a lot brighter

Have you guys seen the news about the new SEWIP Block 3 system? A missile defense system that can also use its radar to emmit tight blasts of EM to destroy incoming missiles. I doubt that you can build a missile that can withstand the level of EM that can be put out.
