- Notting Hill Carnival chaos as dancing revellers crash through a bus stop roof. Footage taken on the first day of Notting Hill Carnival shows a group of hedonistic partygoers climb on top of a bus shelter until it collapses. The clip shared on social media shows a crew of around eight people standing on top of the shelter, flaunting themselves in front of a throng of people. Dozens of spectators in the crowd had their phones in the air recording what was happening, until the roof of the shelter suddenly gave way. An audible gasp can be heard among the festival-goers as the group suddenly plunges out of view. Reports of arrests and anti-social behaviour have blighted an otherwise joyous return for Notting Hill Carnival following a three-year hiatus due to Covid.

I am a proud Londoner and our family history goes back 112yrs in London. "Wild Horses " couldn't drag me or anyone I know to that DEBACLE at Notting Hill.

It's just a festival for hooligans. I've been once, it was fairly calm and ok but that was about 10 years ago. Every year it seems to get worse. No resident should have to board their home up because a carnival is happening. It's meant to be a joyous occasion. Yet these people who attend now only know about destroying things, not celebrating things. Cars get attacked, bus stops get vandalised, litter gets thrown everywhere. They should genuinely be ashamed of themselves.
Carnival in Grenada is a family outing, people get very drunk but are very respectful of their neighbours.
It seems to get worse, because that's how its reported. Stop believing The Mail, The Express and other right wing views outlets.

With the benefit of hindsight, I sincerely hope that lessons will be learnt this time and bus stop safety procedures will be reviewed thoroughly and vigorously to ensure that this doesn't occur again. Prayers and vigils for those to stupid to understand cause and effect.

It certainly wasn't any kind of design oversight - just totally irresponsible behaviour.
Unfortunately, innocent people could end up being caught in the disaster - but that wouldn't be the bus stop "owners'" fault - only those who don't consider the welfare of other people.
I think the entire event should be consigned to history - we're not the West Indies - we're western Europe.

It was just 1 bus stop. Tens of thousands of people. 3 mile square area (more probably). This was a VERY minor incident and an accident.

I believe all covered bus stops in country at least used to carry "no climbing in structure because it is unsafe plus you will face prosecution ID caught". I know they used to have signs saying if you see anyone climbing in or vandalising this bus stop please call (number) and report incident. It's been awhile since I last noticed if they still have them, maybe it in very, very small print in timetables if they do .

@@dogpoofairy2517 think half of those where probably possession think was 6 assaults and a couple cases of drunken disorder. The remainder not sure 38 arrests isn't isn't bad considering 3yrs ago 432 where arrested in the 3 days with much lager amount of assaults occurring
