- From The Film Australia Collection. Made by the Commonwealth Film Unit 1968. The memorial service of Australian Prime Minister, Harold Holt, who went missing off Cheviot beach, Victoria on December 17, 1967. Leaders and dignitaries from Australia around the world attended his service, including US President, Lyndon B Johnson and Prince Charles, representing Queen Elizabeth II.
Still the most Aussie thing that we named a swimming pool after him...

Great video! Why would the interior footage be in black and white? Was is a matter of better exposure in low light for film?
Yup. This is one of those topics which is difficult to find information on now, but at the time, colour films were about ASA(ISO)160 max, which would have been unsuitable for the interior, while there were ASA1600 b&w film stocks available, which would have been fine. For Hollywood films, most were only in colour after 1970
As theducks stated there would have been limitations on the film stock as well as sensitivity around the location and nature of the service being filmed. Flooding the room with lights would not have been appropriate.

Just before dark a 10year old boy and his slightly older sister were in a boat cruising when a body surfaced . The boat hit the body . The two in the boat became frightened thinking they may have killed someone . They went to shore and never spoke about it . The event has haunted them since. I know the identity of the man and his whereabouts.

@@nickhanlon9331 a 10year old boy and his younger sister were in a boat in the bay many hours later. As they were cruising along , the boat crashed into a human body and being very young they panicked and got the hell out of there.
None of this has officially ever been investigated .
A search was never conducted in the bay. The people in the boat are alive and well . My nephew worked for the guy .
