Coach Retail vs Outlet.. What’s the difference?

- Taking a close look at similar style bags, one from the outlet; the Marlie Too Handle and compare it to Cassie 19 from the retail store. There’s a bit of difference between the two but which one do you like better?
Does it really matter if it's retail or outlet?!! It's Coach and not a knock off! Buy what you like!! I like the retail in the video better!! There wasn't such a huge difference! The outlet still looks good!! I buy what I like!! Some people on here are acting like you have a counterfeit if you have a outlet bag!! Sheesh!!!
I agree I actually prefer the outlet bag looks way better anywsy who cares about this stuff really it's so stupid to do videos id see the point if you got ripped off and it was fake but its not and not even the same bag grow up my god give me peace I really agree with you buy what you want and what makes you happy honestly

I would want to buy something that lasts. I have bought coach outlet before and the bag straight up broke 3rd use. Vs when I buy a super fake it is immaculate quality. All bags $300. I would rather a super fake for much better quality than an outlet. I want my stuff to last at the end of the day. Update: my Artsy LV super fake is showing zero wear and looks AMAZING after using it almost daily for a year. My outlet coach is long gone. I’m hoping I just got a lemon
@@StephanieGrace19 I don't want knock off of nothing!! I've seen good, as far as appearance, in knock off, but better quality....nope! To each his own!! Honestly... one should question Coach!! There should be great quality in both outlet and retail!!! I've had both and have had something on them mess up...straps...etc!!
I have never had any issues with the multiple coach items I've purchased. I even bought a coach tote bag for college/work. It fits my 16 in laptop/charger,my big medical textbook, and my two lunches for my 16 hour days along with the normal purse stuff. Im so pleased that it's durable. The bag was originally 400 or so dollars but I got it at the outlet for 100🥰 I also use it daily and throw it around so I wipe with a damp cloth and it looks as good as when I bought it.
Coach bags really do last long as long as you take care of them well.
Except the outlet never sold the bag for the retail price listed on outlet bag, so it’s not discounted. It’s the made for outlet price. The bag there was made for factory outlet only. The code inside will have an “F” for factory. The retail price for retail Boutique actually prices their bags at retail, so outlet retail price is misleading. I believe they call it comparable value, but it really isn’t. The materials on bags made for factory outlet only aren’t the same. It may be cheaper and more affordable, but there isn’t a higher retail value, despite what the tag says. The price listed should be listed as their suggested retail price as it’s never sold at a higher price than that and was never at a retail store.. Sometimes there are additional discounts on their prices, but the suggested retail price is made up.
That’s a really good point! The outlet prices are actually really misleading.

Being a big LV fan with lots of coated canvas pieces, I wish I had picked up on the Cassie 19 you show here, it is really beautiful! I have the Cassie 19 in chalk leather and it's beautiful, but I must say I really love the coated canvas and leather combo version in that colourway.
I love the chalk one too! But this coated canvas one is something special too. I’ve used it for a year and it’s still looking like new

The thing is though, I bought the court backpack from outlet and it seemed better quality than the regular retail version...so idk 😐. The zipper reinforcements were there as well. I think it depends truly on the bag.
This is good info bec before I was confused why there's a diff MK design that I haven't seen at the retail store. I researched and learned that there are outlet products but there's also retail items that make it to the outlet. Yes it's true there's a diff in quality but outlet is of good quality too and wayyy better than the fakes of course. Sometimes there are outlet designs that I like more. Whichever way it's up to your preference I think.

Which bag ages better that’s all that matters to me. I’m a nurse and I’m always on the go I probably won’t take great care of it I just want it to last after being thrown around my car. I want something that lasts me years without it falling apart. I had a mk bag for a few months and it started to tear. I want something that lasts many years
Any Coach bag that’s a coated canvas or pebbled leather lasts for a long time. I have a coated canvas bag that’s been with me for over 10 years and it still looks great

the reason the hardware feels differently is because the retail store uses actual brass. my reason for saying this: the weighted feel of the metal as well as the color is a lot like like the old turn knobs at my grandmother's house that had the funny looking rod attached to one end that would never come apart and fits directly into the matching nob on the other end. As strange as this may sound bare with me a moment. the old-fashion stuff you don't see anymore were not light like feathers ok that go all the way back to probably 1910. and if you ever encounter anything similar you will immediately understand just what I mean.
And yes like my mother often said outlet is not really the exact same quality as retail store (hence, why she didn't like outlet stores)
I can afford buying a bag at the retail store , I still think is cheap compared to LV , my husband will be happy , the problem is that I can't find at the retail store a coach bag with the logo ( carriage and the horse ) they told me at the retail store that I will find then at the outlet store so that means I will have to go to the outlet and purchase a bag over there , I got a coach bag as a gift ( 9 years ago and it looks so good , it's my daily purse so I know the quality is great ) I hope the bag at the outlet store will be as good as my old coach bag .
I think it really depends on the type of bag and the material you get. coated canvas versions are really durable as well. Might want to try if coach.com or ca.coach.com has the one that you like, there’s some designs that have the horse and carriage now.
If one wishes to see Louis Vuitton, disintegrating into junk, check out the peeled coating, on the interior pockets, pitted "gold tone" LV zippers, loose seams, and crummy corner wear.... True, the bag reflects the owner's maintenance; however, never had these issues, with the durable Coach..... And, American Brahman wears like iron..... Vuitton has the Arnault's cachet, but (as with the Chanel quality-control issues), France can turn out junk, as well as China.....

Coach bags made in Vietnam? If it’s from the real Coach factory, the quality is the same for most outlet bags. If you’re talking about those that claim are original…but are copies, you can definitely tell the difference as the logo placements are not the same and it’s not the same material because the logos look off. The quality is not as good too, because the bag breaks down after a year of use. Save money and invest in an authentic bags. It will save you a lot based on the cost per use of the bag

I only buy from ca.coach.com for retail and ca.coachoutlet.com for outlet versions. They’re both legit. You could also go to the boutique or outlet to be sure
I don’t understand why there’s a coach retail and coach outlet. Are they not the same brand?
They are from the same Brand, which is Coach of course. The difference between the two is that Retail products are more high quality and cost higher. The bags would have more detail and use more expensive material. The outlet would have similar designs from the Retail store except the quality leather used and hardware would be at a lower cost. There are also Retail exclusive designs that you won’t find in the outlet.

Yes, the quality is a little lower for outlet bag. For sure I would still recommend an outlet bag. Wait for the good deals so you can really get value for your money, and buy something classic. I would stay away from fabric bags as they tend to age quite fast. Hope you were able to get one, Boxing Day Sale is still available online.
Will never buy retail again, the strap is a nightmare . I would say outlet bags have better strap buckles. I bought the Cassie regular, the 19 and the Cassie camera and the recent Tate carryall. With all the bags I have had issues with the strap coming off and the bag almost falling off. I had to switch the strap with some Amazon purchase as I’m scared of the bags falling off .

You can find retail in the outlet as well, if you check the inside and come with dust bag, means is from retail.
@@dinasantos5800 That's true..more and more retail clearance items can be found in the outlet store. Only because retail stores don't keep these items on display throughout the year. If it doesn't sell in retail, they'll ship it to the outlet. But again, its very few items that end up there in outlet

Difference is definitely price! You could get a $400 leather jacket from Outlet while in Retail it would be $1000. There would also be a difference in the leather quality. The Outlet would have trendier styles in jackets while the Retail would be classic. Hope this helps!

@@Syntaxhead yes for sure. Retail would most likely use full grain leather or genuine leather while outlets would use bonded leather. Bonded leather is basically scraps and bonded together with PU which would make it a lower grade.

Not necessarily true I have ordered many items retail and returned then to the outlet....so they do have retail items in the outlets. I don't see any difference in it

I agree with Tina. The Marley handle was made to he structured while the other bag was made to be removable. I give a true comparison you need to review the same bag.
The bag from the outlet v the bag from the flag coach store are always similar but with distinctive differences between the two. The name are also always different. So one has to find the bags which are the most similar to make a comparison. With that said both of these bags are actually from the flag store originally and not from the outlet l. The Casey which she got from the outlet, did start out at the flagship store and therefore, not at all a fair comparison for this topic.
The blue bag is the Marlie and the rust bag is the Cassie 19.

That case 19 is not originally from the retail so this is not a fair comparison. You may have bought it from there but it definitely didn't start out there.

I have few coach outlet items and the hardware fades quickly and my wallet in smooth leather peeled off after a year, so disappointing since its still quite pricey from someone like me who lives in the philippines.. Since then i no longer drawn to outlet items.

I have used coach outlet bags for a long time and never had an issue with them. I love them. They are still great bags. Not cheap but not super expensive.

I was a Coach VIP customers when they had customer tiers. And I can spot a Coach outlet bag a mile away. Lol! The boutiques have much better leather and hardware. Now sometimes, leftover handbags from the boutiques are sent to the outlet website to be sold online. And I can spot those, too. Lol! I know when I see a full price Coach bag that’s been filtered into the outlet website. It doesn’t happen all the time but it happens.

@@vanessacampuzano2591 I think this is an outlet bag, but it could be that the design is limited and will only release on certain times of the year. There are a few designs that are only released during the summer.
I prefer the style of the outlet totes. The branding looks classier to me than the 'C' clasp.
The outlet piece is super low quality. Retail 1941 line is the best quality coach for you to enjoy.

I personally thought this was a great comparison video! Very detailed in comparing all the features. Also these bags need not be exactly the same to be compared with btw. It’s quite similar in design and especially in size but enough differences that make each unique enough for bag lovers to be interested in knowing which to purchase. I’m glad this comparison was made as I’ve already got two Cassie 19s and was contemplating on whether to get this particular Marlie for the colour and design. Keep up the good work!

Kate Spade has many models pretty similar in retail and outlet boutiques not idéntica but really similar.
