The best thing Sheldon ever said. And I love that after years of running Howard down for not having a PHD he addressed him as Astronaut, putting him on more even footing with all the Doctors.
yup. and *sheldon* of all people acknowledges that Howard isn't just 'their engineer friend who only has a Master's' but is an Astronaut that made it into space, an accomplishment none of them have, or will have.
Not on even footing, but higher than the doctors. Many can have PHDs, but only a small number can be Astronaut..
Doctoral degrees in engineering are rare. Howard had considered getting his Ph.D. in later seasons. I think he was going to go into Physics. Of course, he'd have to come into contact (academically) w/ Sheldon which had already proven impossible for the two of them. The idea of having Sheldon as his doctoral advisor could practically make a screwball comedy film...

If you guys didn't notice,it was Sheldon's mom who helped him realise about super asymmetry when she talked to him before his wedding and just when Sheldon was thinking that he had reached a dead end with his theory,his dad was the one who inspired him again when he watched the tape,in the end his mom and his dad were always there for him even if his dad was dead.
Too bad they didn't have his family in the audience.

@trying to do better I think that is a show that you need to watch from the start, I just looked at the pilot and the end episode and the line, we dug coal together gets nowhere near to Sheldon`s speech or the TBBT story ending. That is still the best ever that I have seen.

@@Faceplay2 I thinks its so silly. The show itself treated its fans like children with the laugh track and jokes that literally consisted of a character naming a bunch of "Geeky" stuff. Theres actually a clip showing 2 min of a random episode and in that 2 min there were 14 times the characters stopped talking after each sentence for a laugh track. They put up with that for a decade? Wow
It's really sweet how he started with Howard's name first, when he apologized. Considering how much he mocked him.

49 yr old guy and yeah....same, loved this. I kept expecting Sheldon to be his usual self so it was nice to see a caring side. Best ending ever.
I just have to smile for Amy. She had her Cinderella moment in her tiara and a very public kiss from Sheldon.

Not a very difficult accomplishment.
Any ending would be a better ending than GoT season 8.
It is, to be honest, a perfect scene. The way that Sheldon delivers the most emotional speech ever in a completely deadpan, serious and yet, in its way, emotional manner, the way that the guys react when they get called out, from the look of total confusion of Raj to the dead serious look of Howard which shows that he recognizes what big deal that "astronaut" is for Sheldon, to the pause before Leonard stands up. It's impossible to write a perfect finale, but this comes so damn close.
I'm only commenting because a like just seems so inadequate!

Ironically, I know the Professor who really DID win the nobel prize in physics in 2019 (Prof Donna Strickland). We tease her A LOT that she stole the prize from Sheldon Cooper. :-)

I can’t say the same. I know I cried the episode where they realized that the Russian paper was only right in one perspective after they saw Sheldon’s dad’s halftime speech. Sheldon starts to tear up and says “Thanks, Dad. We are gonna give him hell.” Complete water works.

Other 2 incidents which would surely made fans cry were
1. Howard shared about his mother's demise
2. Sheldon's Brother clarifying Sheldon about his took responsibilities of his family,while sheldon was away( episode before sheldon's marriage)
Also when Professor Proton died, and Sheldon dreamed about him, and then gave Leonard a big hug when he came into Sheldons room. 😭

I'm surprised they each didn't break down in tears. I would have. Here's a groups of actors who truly love each other, as did we all.
If you notice, Howard was crying too, you can see how red his eyes are. Ending was absolutely perfect.
Seeing Amy trying so hard to hold her tears while listening to Sheldon's speech actually makes this scene 10x better

I was filled with so many emotions that I couldn't find a way to react. Sheldon is right, his friends are indeed his other family. His speech acknowledged that while he might not show it in the way that other people do, he cares for his friends in the same way that anyone else does.

No matter how many times I watch the finale, it gets me right in the feels every single time and I turn into a huge puddle of mush. The ending shows so much growth and so much heart.
I didnt cry when sheldon said his speech. I cried when they closed the show with the intro. It was perfect, it was as if their friendship continued as how we know it. So in a way the audience knew what happened after the show ends. Life continues and they grow old as great friends.

Exactly. Came to BBT very late, like, two years ago. Watch reruns sporadically. I literally just watched the entire pilot, tonight. Caught the last five minutes of the finale...it made me tear. Entertainment is amazing when it makes you feel, relate, care. The actors connections and characters bonds parallel...only heightened the emotional stakes! Such a satisfying goodbye. Bravo.

It is sad to see them end this show. I remember watching this when i was 16 years old and being a kid laughing at all these episode. Now im 26 and kinda seeing how life just moves fast forward.

The finale we all needed. Sheldon finally learned no only empathy but humility. Things that the great scientists that Sheldon admired had, Einstein, Stephen hawking, Cale Sagan, Richard Feynman. They all wanted to make the world a better place by understanding the universe around us who it works and how to make life better for us all. And with his friends and family including his wife Sheldon has finally become the great scientist he wanted to be.
When Sheldon said Astronaut Howard wolowitz,
I was expecting;

When I was watching the acceptance speech I thought that it would be beautiful if sheldon invite penny on stage and give her the medal as an honor about all the things he did for the four guys. Because she was the less accomplished but she helped all the characters to evolve themselves.

I cried.. Honestly speaking.. It touched straight down to the bottomest part of my heart..We all saw Sheldon heartless, boastful and ungrateful.. The last scene changed my complete perception..each character taught us a lot.. Thank you to the entire cast..

How many of you noticed that Jim Parsons - Sheldon - was trying really hard to not tear up? It was excruciating to see him like that. What an actor. I just love him so much ❤️
I don't know why, and i'm sure many people who disagree with me due to their own opinions. but i feel in this moment is the purist moment of humanity Sheldon has and it rectifies absolutely everything he's done up to this point. It was the absolute perfect way to end the show and I cried like a pantomime dame while viewing. Im even a little choked up now on my 15,000th viewing of this scene. Truly beautiful.
