The Big Bang Theory created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007, and concluded on May 16, 2019, having broadcast 279 episodes over 12 seasons.
The show originally centered on five characters living in Pasadena, California: Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), both physicists at Caltech, who share an apartment; Penny (Kaley Cuoco), a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall; and Leonard and Sheldon's similarly geeky and socially awkward friends and co-workers, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar). Over time, supporting characters were promoted to starring roles, including neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), microbiologist Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch), and comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman).
The show was filmed in front of a live audience and produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions. It ultimately reached the no. 1 spot in its eleventh season. It was nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series from 2011 to 2014 and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series four times for Parsons. In total, it won seven Emmy Awards from 46 nominations. Parsons also won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Comedy Series in 2011. In 2017, the series spawned a prequel series, Young Sheldon, based on Parsons' character Sheldon Cooper; it also airs on CBS. - Zábava
I tear up when he calls Howard, “Astronaut Howard Wolowitz.” It shows his actual respect for him.
Yes howard finally receives the respect he deserves
I really thought he was gonna say Engineer Howard Wolowitz lol
@@ritualgamerx2583 nah. Can’t respect an engineer. Never. But an astronaut. That’s fine.
Edit: for those who need it. /s I don’t actually believe this about engineers. It was a joke about how Sheldon spends most of the series talking down to everyone else about their chosen fields of study. Except for some rare moments like this.
Bazinga! he's just an MIT engineer ;)
@@robinbourgeois Still would've been nice to know where Sheldon got his two doctorates from though....
I have seen Sheldon's Nobel acceptance speech countless time and it still brings tears. Love this show.
It was touching
Same here 😢😢
Me too.
The fact that he recognizes and announces their titles showing that he truly respects them
Same here sir!
Last scene shows how close Penny is to Sheldon in real life too. No other series shows such a perfect relationship between people of opposite genders that isn't romantic like this show. Penny and Sheldons friendship is so pure.
You know Jim Parson is gay right? Kind of explains some of it dont ya think?
@@rodx5571 Yes, I do know. But, just because people aren't romantically interested in the other person doesn't automatically make them best friends.
Joey and Pheobe from Friends, along with the entire cast, were incredibly close.
Rosa & Jake
Gina & Jake
also well written relationships
There’s Tom welling and Michael Rosenbaum and Jared and Jensen from smallville and supernatural to there best friends in real life
The fact that Jim Parsons didn't react to the paper on his shoulder and delivered his line without a missing a beat was impressive.
I don't think John Galecki's expression was acting, I think he was honestly amazed/stunned.
+1 to them both.
if you watch deleted scenes they do laugh at it.
Their is an actual blooper of the paper scene.
I came to the comments to say exactly this.
TBBT had one of the best series finales that I’ve watched. Sheldon’s epiphany and his friends continuing to support him was just perfect. Cheesy but good
It was juxtaposed nicely with the episode of Young Sheldon the same night when no one showed up to his comet viewing party.
It's one of the best finales because the characters weren't separated from each other at the end like in most shows finales. Nobody was moving out to a new apartment or a different city, nodody was dying or anything like that. The group still together. We just don't get to watch them anymore. Wonderful finale.
What about Charlie coming back and a piano falling on him?
Really? I absolutely hate it. I never watch it anymore.
Yep, the very last scene, as the camera is fading away, is of them sitting around the living room in the apartment eating dinner. As it should be.
How am I just realising that Stuart is the Gunther of TBBT
Well kinda in the starting seasons
But in later seasons especially since season 10 he is a prominent character having more than a couple of lines in a couple of episodes of every season.
He becomes an integral part of the gang so much so that he even got a romantic relationship.
Cause your like Joey. Lol
@@ankitaranjan8279 wasn't he originally called Larry?
@@JohnM... I remembered an episode on the first Season Leonard says "Larry, from the comic book store". But since the actor appeared, It was always Stuart.
Probably cause you are the Lloyd of Wings
The Nobel Prize speech of Sheldon was the best moment of the whole series.
Hands down
Yeah, good start for his new journey as a human
Without question. Though the runners up are too numerous to count.
I’ve always loved Howard’s song to Bernadette.
Penny's gift of Leonard Nimoy's DNA is in my top one.
Most of the time sitcoms end with a whimper, it’s gratifying to know this show started strong and ended on a high.
Everything came full circle.
It ended with a "big bang", so to speak
@@arvivk68 he came a long way. He could finally talk to women without drinking.
It started as a show for smart people, ended as a cheap copy of Friends.
@@janlinhart7914 that was disappointing yeah
@@janlinhart7914 ppl hated it bc it took too long to end the story
"Live long and suck it!" My favourite quote ever.
yes, a priceless scene.
Lol
The last scene. So beautiful. Shows how much Sheldon had grown throughout the series.
🥺🥺❤️❤️
Which season is that from?
@@Shri_V first season first episode
@@Shri_V The last scene was from the 12th (final) season.
@@KGD74 Thanks. I dropped off midway after the 10th season I think.
@@powershaktimaan Definitely not the first season :-) Someone else mentioned its from the final season.
If you watch the table read of the Nobel acceptance speech, you will undoubtedly be deeply touched by the moments around the table; it was a truly powerful speech.
Can u share the link of that video pls
czcams.com/video/wSG2lHK0IYo/video.html
Watched it. It was incredible
*Nobel
So....if there was a table read, it was very much scripted, and therefore exempt from this list, as I’m sure all the scenes on this list are.
No one ever noticed that Sheldon almost chokes up from emotion when he says "astronaut Howard Wallowitz"
There's an inside joke. Howard has been hounded for the entire series to be only one to not to have a doctorate. In one of the episodes, dr gablehauser was referring to the trio as Dr, but for Howard it was a Mr!
But they all noticed how you misspelt Wolowitz.
@@Shibaji_Kundu yes, all fans of the show know that…
I noticed and have said that since that episode aired.
@@Shibaji_KunduThat's because he wasn't a Doctorate. I mean yeah he doesn't deserve the disrespect he gets from Sheldon, but he is just an Engineer
the last season was extremly rushed. However the tears were absolutely real. one of the longest sitcoms. They spent years and years and years together. a moment in time comes to a close. the ending of a chapter.
It wasn't supposed to end yet. They ended because Jim Parsons doesn't want to go on.
Agreed, it was very rushed but like all long running successful sitcoms it ran its course. It was quite evident in the last few seasons, yes there were some episodes and funny moments that were okay but the show ran out of juice. So I full agree with Jim Parsons not go on with the show.
No wonder why S12 was better than whatever garbage came out between S8-11. Rushed content is still better than no content.
Seeing Sheldon at the beginning and seeing him here, he has come such a long way. I love the character development in this series!
Or as Amy put it, such a short way in a really really long time
@@anthonycarless1748 😂
Out of seven main characters, Howard's development from immature to mature man was great. Sheldon's development was OK, he was still Sheldon, but with more empathy. Others: Bernadette got more and more evil, Raj more and more feminine, Leonard more and more needy. Penny developed from very cool person to completely bland person. And with Amy there was no development, she was actually the different person in every season.
Just finished watching the whole show in less than two weeks
Didn't expect to cry this much watching the last two episodes especially Amy and Sheldon's Nobel acceptance speech
What a great sitcom.. thank you for all the laughs, emotions and tears
i cry everytime
Wow, you must've had an amazing journey. All those years into 2 weeks. That must've been incredibly emotional.
I did the same a few months ago. Spread over about a month, but even still. This show managed to bring so many laughs, so many tears and so many emotions over the 12 seasons and this ending honestly gets me every time.
If you don't tie it in with the Young Sheldon that follows this finale you're still missing out.
Same I remember watching it years ago but I didn't finish it so I rewatched it again and I loved it
Penny wasn't the only one who teared up , it's only a show , but that was an awesome speech .
I tear up every time I see that clip.
Me, too.
They are friends IRL.
Amy was tearing up as well
But as a character, Penny has always been emotionally volatile
I’m glad Chuck Lorre went out this way with the Nobel Prize episode with Jim Parsons. This is the best way to finish a season!
Better than his other series finales... *ahem* "Winning."
I still say Penny should have had a throwaway line that got Sheldon and Amy on the final track to the Nobel Prize, thereby requiring her to receive credit for it as well.
Imagine if him a Charlie Sheen had gotten along through TAHM's run
2:14 I thought that was in the script. Will Wheaton was absolutely hilarious when he came in in his uniform and accepting the hate 😂😂😂😂
I'm not getting unscripted out of any of these so far. (Still watching)
Yeah.... Live long and suck it!!!
LOL 😅😅😅
Yeah, maybe they weren't in the Original script, but all these were definitely planned before final shooting (except for the paper). But, hey, the title got us to watch the vid...
No. He just happened to wear the uniform and Spock ears like he does every day. And then they all improvised the whole dialogue about star trek. The scene should actually be just them sitting there.
Pretty sure it was the live long and suck it response that was unscripted
The fact that they all changed their minds and decided to stay to see Amy and Sheldon accept the Nobel must have meant so much to him for him to completely change his speech! 😭
So nice to see Sheldon acknowledge his true friends at his acceptance speech .First time he sounded sincere and it was great to hear him like that.Loved the show and still enjoy re-runs.👍👍👍
Especially due toi the running gag that he might mention them i nthe speech. And it ended up to be pretty much all about them ^^
Last speech of sheldon is just awesome. 😍
Didn't knew it was unscripted..
But it was scripted there's video of there rehearsal
@@pargatsingh5261 Penny crying was unscripted, not the speech
That "I love you" from Stuart got the producers in split and gave him more exposure into the show.
And it sounds so genuine, he has grasped that character perfectly, great moment!
Stuart changed on the series. In the beginning he was pretty cool, even snagging a date with Penny. Then he turned kind of pathetic, until he met Denise
@@user-tv3mz3mw7v It was kind of sad how Sturat's character was changed... however glad that they gave him more exposure.. unlike lot of other characters which were added..
@@user-tv3mz3mw7v in what way Leonard changed?
"Astronaut Howard Wolowitz" ... still makes me cry
It was real how sheldon finally realizes his friends and how much they mean to them.
Sheldon's speech still gets me. It was like the whole series had slowly been building up to that moment and he finally accepts and acknowledges what his friends mean to him.
Ever notice how Sheldon always had a soft spot for Penny?
Because he genuinely saw her as a sister.
True...though he already had a sister. But I think Penny really taught Sheldon a lot (about people and relationships through the years and she was really patient with him.
@@melindafornator4827 Yeah he already had a sister but we saw her twice in the show whereas Penny was with him and care for him in almost every episode
Yeah. He always acted like he looked down on her for not being as smart but he really relied on her and needed her.
I bawled my eyes out at the very last episode. I had been dreading it. It was beautifully done, beautifully scripted, beautifully ended.
Same...
So did I and do, every time I watch the last episode!
it’s so funny how the piece of paper landed on Jim’s shoulder on accident and they just kept it in🤣it made the scene so much funnier
@Dani O me too
I would've haha 😂😂😂😂😂
@Dani O Sheldon/Jim did crack up. There's an outtake of him losing it when it happens. I don't know whether they reshot it or rigged it so it would happen again.

Haven’t seen the whole show, but that last scene is totally the right time for Sheldon to get a clue and actually tell those in his life that he cares and loves them too.
After so many years acting like a jerk, Sheldon (and the writers) nail it with that part. That was the way to end it. But I have a feeling that we haven't seen the last of this gang yet. I hope so, it was a great series. When I first saw it, I came back just to see how and when Seldon was going to get his. Then I was hooked, again, great series.
The closest we’ve come to a reunion so far are some of the moments on Young Sheldon, which is actually a very good show. And since Jim Parsons and his husband are co-producers, with Chuck Lorre et al producing, writing, etc., it stays true to the BBT world. And Jim does the voiceovers, in which Mayim occasionally participates, referencing Sheldon and Amy’s future children, etc.
Sheldon had aspergers.
@@andgate2000
I thought his mother had him tested?!
I still hope they make a few movies like with Cagney & Lacy from the 80s. They had quite some success with them in the 90s.
Should be a way for TBBT too.
@@DerEchteBoldNope. She didn't follow up with the doctor
I still cry when I watch Sheldon's speech. So profound. I feel like he is saying thank you to me too for watching the show to the end 😭😭😭
The last part always tears me up..❤ Sheldon's inattention, him setting aside the speech and finally acknowledging the bliss of his company is always special and perhaps the climax of his peculiar character development! Jim Parson's expressions and their reactions is really praiseworthy !!!
That crack in Amy's (Mayim) voice around 4:45 is golden. Makes me split my gut every time.
IF "Live long and suck it" was unscripted, it was a masterful comeback!
"I want to say, in my own way... I love you"
That's the best quote to ever been quoted... because during all the series the fact that Sheldon is Asperger, and knows too little about empathy and social behaviour, is funny and to laugh... but at the end, Sheldon loves them in his own Sheldon way.
I still cry at this last scene, it's so not Sheldon and yet finally so Sheldon.
Sheldon’s speech gets me every time 😭 so powerful
Kaley Cuoco is a stunning person. She's physically beautiful with the soul of an angel. She expresses true joy and excitement when friends and co-stars receive good news, cries at sentimental moments even while filming a tv show, has much compassion for our four legged animal friends. It was wonderful to watch the show make her character evolve through the years and not just be the stereotypical hot blonde girl. I don't think it would've lasted as long as it did without her.
I forgot which award, but when she presented a category n jim parson won.. The way shes jumping for joy.... Love herrr
@@NabilahOthmanit was the golden globes in 2011
@@NabilahOthman yes I've seen the clip. She gets so excited and Jim says "if you can't tell, Kaley and I work together."
That's what I mean, she truly loves the people she loves. It's not fake.
She's great in Flight Attendant as well, a joy to watch in every scene she's in. Though too much emotions is probably the reason none of her relations or marriages last more than 3 yrs😂
I really felt like we needed one more season….just to see how leonard and penny turned out as parents, how sheldon achieved and amy achieved in their careers, etc…
True and the rest of the cast WANTED another season and even two as they were all ok with continuing the series. It was Jim Parsons (Sheldon) that had had enough as he was already executive producer on young Sheldon which was already successful. They tried to get him to go another season but sadly he wouldn't budge. They thought about a penny and Leonard spin off which could have worked as long as everyone else was involved but they ultimately decided against it since they knew Sheldon was the character that really carried the show. At least in the first half of the show.
But I think it would have worked for at least a few years since penny was always hot to look at and other characters were funny to and we know from Young Sheldon that Amy and Sheldon did eventually have a child, a boy who may actually named Leonard after both Leonard his friend and Leonard Nimoy AKA Spock, so that would have really been great to see to.
@@JediWitness2Sheldon was kinda the spotlight character and BBT wouldn't be the same without him. Everytime a show pulled that (The Office for example), the appeal would never be the same. Kaley already did Flight Attendant and Based on a True Story after BBT and Galecki doesn't care too much about acting.
Idk what Helberg does but he was my favourite on the show.
I’m not surprised that penny cried, I watched that scene probably about 10 times and I cry every time lol
After some years and watching this speech on repeat, can't understand why I'm still tearing up.
How was Will Wheaton in costume UNSCRIPTED?!?! It was perfect!! The spanking makes sense too, in interviews they mention how hard both tried to make the moment hilarious so it makes sense that they included it
Yea... that seemed very scripted. Guess whoever put the clips together pulled from another folder.
@@motodog242 yeah.... there's literally bloopers for the spanking scene
@@motodog242 only Will and a few of the sets crew members knew Will was going to come in dressed that way as a joke & they decided to keep it in, the confusion of the cast was real. also the spanking scene was suppose to cut video and only be audio while the credits rolled but bc of how funny it was they just showed the video as well.
Hey guys if you don't realize this The Big Bang Theory turns 15 years old on Spetember 24 this year.
the show ended in 2019?
@@kendricclark1766 yep. Along with Avengers Endgame and Game Of Thrones, what a year 2019 is.

Just golden
I miss these guys so much. One of the best show's I've ever watched
A beloved show that gets its ending perfectly right. Bravo!
Not only was this show funny, as comedies should be, but it had serious character growth throughout its run...
For Howard, Sheldon, Leonard, Stuart and Amy, yes. Bernadette and Penny regressed over time and the writers were completely clueless about Raj.
We loved this series and it brought tears to our eyes in the last show. We have since gone in to watch “Young Sheldon”. There is an episode where he wants to listen to the Nobel prize winners one year and invited the entire school to his home to listen as well. No one showed up of course. Then the prize winner wasn’t who he wanted to win and he started crying. Jim Parson is the voice over and explained how he felt he would always be alone but he was thankfully wrong. The scene goes into to show each of the “Big Bang” series friends as children. Another very tearful moment.
I cried at the part where all them as kids were listening alone too 😭💔
"is that Buffy the vampire slayer" I just love that line every single time and soooo happy SMG was in the last episode. Though I do wish she was in it a little more 😭
I liked how even Amy looked impressed!
Sheldon’s unawareness spanking Amy kills me every time
The last speech on the show was so emotional, couldn't stop the tears while watching and saying goodbye to the show...😢😢😢 It was an awesome journey with TBBT...👍👍👍
Not simply proufoundly good entertainment, but also for cast, creators, characters and audience, a milestone in adult growth and development. T. Powers

The guy paying Sheldon is actually a talented actor. He Segways from narcissist to caring person and you see him in both characters. Not easy to pull off.
That butt slap scene idk how he stayed in character 😂😂..
There were a number of bloopers of that scene. He had a very difficult time staying in character.
Honestly, if two people were ever soul mates, it would be Sheldon and Penny. The love they have for each other transcends friendship.
I don't disagree. I also think it challenges what a "soul mate" is.
Yeah.. It's called siblings
@@DemnRaig80 I know plenty of siblings that don't even like each other. I also don't know any siblings that have ever been called soul mates. So cut it with sarcastic response

@@talitali6092 No, as the video stated, Penny crying was unscripted.
So many series finale are disappointing. TBBT was perfect. As most of you, I always tear up during this scene. Especially when he finally shows respect to Howard and calls him "astronaut" Great show.
Best ending ever for a sitcom
Sheldon's speech is on point. 😭 SCREW THE ONIONS!
This speech is really touching, same goes for the one Young Sheldon gave when he graduated high school and going off to college. That was an unmatched moments in both series. The best 💯
I didn't particularly care for the way the show ended but Sheldon's speech showed how much he and his friends have all grown over the years
That last scene where he calls his friends family, would make everyone cry. I understand why they kept Penny crying as it shows how much Penny and Sheldon cares for there friends. One of the best scenes throughout The Big Bang Theory.
I'm not sure why this show resonates so much with me, but it does. Their characters acquire layers and depth over the years, in part because the work of the actors, already quite good when they started, also became deeper and more layered. Well done.
It's good for dorky people like us who have had troubles socializing
I really love this show. As much i want this show to continue, but the last episode is enough for me. The ending brought an end of an era, it was perfect. we didn't got fed up or the whole show got to a point that it got uninteresting.
For me this show has a very special place in my heart, it was something that i had along when i was away from home, i watched this show when i was stressed out, when I'm heartbroken. It always give me that laugh, when i feel down. So yeah. I love to rewatch random episodes time to time.
The last clip be like, "Season 6, ep 10" when it was the last season.
Sheldon's speech always make me cry. 😭
This was such a great show. I hope to see something similar to its style come out in the future.
That was the greatest not-real Nobel acceptance speech in all of history!!
this show has literally the best ending I have ever seen in a show. Everything came full circle. It was just perfect and I can rewatch it over and over again.
The last episode was the best ever, usually the last episode can be lame I could name a few many Sit Coms terrible but I won't name them here HA HA
Seen this episode more than anything on TV in my 64 year existence on this planet, it gets me every time , love TBBT.
That last scène of the last episode always leaves me in tears. The Big Bang Theory is one huge wonderful movie and as show goes, my absolute favorite show ever ❤️ ♥️
Bonjour ?
The way Sheldon called Howard as "Astronaut" with a breaking voice seems like he's about to cry. It hits really hard 😭💘 He never meant to hurt them and the perfect ending really wrapped it all by Sheldon realizing his friends' importance. "I apologize if I haven't been the friend you deserve. But I want you to know that, in my way, I love you all" 😭😭😭😭
When I first saw the episode where sheldon throws the papers up in the air and one lands on his shoulder well what are the odds, in a million years you couldn't get that to happen again even if you wanted to.
My brilliant Nuclear Physicist authored father recommended I watch this show. We enjoyed watching it together often. He passed before the last episode. I know he would have absolutely loved it. Daddy I miss you! ❤
The Nobel Speech always feels to me like it's also a "thank you" from Jim to his co-stars. Before TBBT, Jim was pretty much unknown (as was Kunal), yet by the end he had won the awards, and his character quickly came to dominate the show, and got the most recognition and fame outside of the TBBT universe. Not that Jim didn't have to work for it, he has said in many interviews how it was so difficult to learn the lines which contained a lot of science and other terminology. The one time Penny says two paragraphs with a lot of science in, Kaley admitted that it gave her a new respect for the guys and all they had to learn.
But he's the one who ended the show in that season, whereas the shortener and writers had planned to do 2 more seasons, I believe. Jim had Young Sheldon lined up, so in a way, he singlehandedly decided to end the good luck the whole cast and specifically the crew had.
@@wathsi99 In interviews he says he had decided to stop before the start of the final season. Jim and his husband had some personal issues they were going through (but not trouble in their marriage) and Jim just felt he didn't want to carry on in TBBT.
All of them will be always remembered!❤️❤️
I love how Sheldon punishes Amy and she’s enjoying it. 😂 sometimes in the show the best part are the unscripted or the Ad libs. 😂
its crazy to think if lenard's actor didnt turn the role of sheldon down how different this show would be but great ending nonetheless
Forget penny, that acceptance speech always makes me cry no matter how many times I've watched it 😭
I always cry when, I watch the final scene. One of the best sitcoms ever produced.
Sheldon's Nobel acceptance speech and Leonard forgiving his mother will always be two of the scenes that make me tear up the most
Honestly bawled my eyes out on the lat episode !! The amount of love he tried to show his friends just showed the amount of character development sheldon went through and he honeslty was the beat part of the show for me as he stayed true to himself but allowed himself to change by love 😭❤️❤️
1:44 so the entire season 12 was an unscripted moment kept in the show?
It was the comparison of Bernadettes voice from her early appearance to the last season
the ending still gets me everytime. my favorite ending of a series hands down!
I have never watched this kind of sweet, selfless and emotional finale. The way I fell for the BBT, I doubt I will ever fall for other series of this genre. This series had everything and it was wonderful!
