  • Adding Vibrato to Mixes - This week’s video is all about vibrato and adding vibrato to mixes. Vibrato can be a very powerful and useful effect which can give vocals movement and warmth. It’s when there are slight changes in pitch of less than a semitone, during a sustained, singular note.
This video looks at how to artificially create vibrato and also how to remove vibrato from a vocal track. This video is aimed at beginner to intermediate home producers, engineers and musicians.
    Topics and Timings:
    1. Intro (0:00 - 1:21)
    2. Singing with Vibrato (1:21 - 1:50)
    3. Adding Artificial Vibrato (1:50 - 2:16)
    4. Using Flex Pitch (2:16 - 3:25)
    5. Using A Vibrato Plugin (3:25 - 4:48)
    6. Using Chorus (4:48 - 5:55)
    7. Removing Vibrato (5:55 - 7:03)
    8. Using Autotune (7:03 - 8:06)
    9. Final Thoughts (8:06 - 8:50)

The second one was definitely, in my opinion, the best method. It sounds, as you said, very natural. Of course you put too much of it for the video but it’s a very interesting effect. I’ve heard this effect at the beginning of a song called “dich” by a German artist called Cro and wondered how he did it (now I know :)), you should check it out. Awesome video!

Aahhh! You should try revoice pro 4, it's quite good, w bit difficult at first but after having hands on it , it really sounds impressive.

Nice video, well produced... I didn’t think any of the added vibrato sounded completely natural. Won’t a vocalist increase both the rate and intensity of vibrato as the long note goes on? This could perhaps be done with automation?
Thank you , keep it up!

The chorus method can't be considered a technique because now the voice sounds in chorus (multiple people singing). Also I didn't find the vibrato effect it produced that appealing. The first method also did not add vibrato. Only the 2nd method was promising. How do you add vibrato with Melodyne?

this was a lovely video with lots of great information but I must say there are more advance forms to create a very clear vibrato effect with the Real Autotune from Antares which has a 100 times better sounding musical algorithm plus using advance automation on long notes only as well as using selection based processing on regions 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 which is an amazing logic feature 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 better than the one from ProTools
