The last person to admit they were duped is always the first person that was duped. VS figured at the time they capitulated to the left they were "on the right side of history". Any time you hear that statement a leftist totalitarian is making a play at power. Every time. Thanks Obama for making that obvious to anyone with critical thinking skills years ago. Victoria's Secret stores were closing, their sells were going down hill and their last runway show before cancellation had terrible viewing numbers. All of that before this campaign. Megan talking about "comfortability" when talking about VICTORIAS SECRET. When I think about high fashion I don't associate that with comfortability. Those two are opposites. Nobody sits in a high glam costume and angel wings + high heels when they try to relax in the evening, because that would be annoying and probably painfull. Me being a couch potato who is not into fashion, I love comfortability and that's why I'm not into fashion. This was a major brainfart on their end trying to connect things that are complete opposites, just makes zero sense. I'm the type of woman to buy clothes that are 1 size too big just because it feels good and I don't even own a single pair of high heels. High fashion is not for me and that's okay! Why some people try to force their way into things where they don't fit makes no sense to me. Some people are so self centered that they feel they need to be involved with everything I suppose. What a funny ridiculous world we live in sometimes. I can just laugh at this. X'D

I look at an imperfect model and may not notice the lingerie because the model makes it less appealing. That's the harsh reality. We want what is attractive. If ugly sold products we'd have a different idea of what's attractive. But we don't. I have never looked at a man wearing women's underwear and thought "that would look nice on me." I would think "This must be designed for men." VS is not for both sexes to wear. If a man wants to wear them, all power to him but don't market it to women using men models. This is unsurprising.
I don’t use TikTok, but came across a CZcams video recently that was going all in, complaining about how Gen Z is all over TikTok heavily pushing for inclusivity to be done away with in modeling and to bring it back to the tall beautiful women that were picked for their freakishly gorgeous genetics. Apparently it’s become a thing all over beauty and fashion TikTok that it’s getting enough people upset, and they’re all complaining about how it’s that “younger generation ruining things”.
The woman in the video was complaining about how toxic and harmful it is to beauty standards and that it makes no sense because “we” spent years fighting for diversity and showing all walks of life …
It’s like the poor girl just didn’t get it. People don’t want to see inclusivity. They want exclusivity. _That_ is what makes a brand sought after. THAT is what brings sales. It’s that fantasy of “if I buy this, then I can look like that.” … which doesn’t happen when it is focused on inclusivity. No one wants to buy “sexy lingerie” if they think it’s going to look like a mumu on them, too. No one wants to buy a cute pajama set if it’s going to make them look like the model that’s pushing 350lbs showing every inch of cellulite and stretch marks. It does NOT make them feel some type of way to where they want to purchase it and feel just as desirable in it as it would if someone like Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, or Heidi Klum was wearing it, y’know?
That’s not to say women can’t have cellulite or stretch marks. It’s just the way things are modeled and marketed really changes the consumer’s perspective on a brand heavily. What once used to be this line of exclusive lingerie and clothing is now something anyone and everyone can get. It’s not special anymore.
So, if I can give Gen Z some credit, I’ll give them some for pushing for the industry to get back to recognizing beauty. Sure, everyone is beautiful in their own way, but let’s not pretend that Tess Holiday is the same as Cindy Crawford in terms of that beauty lol.

Not because I look anything like her but sometimes I want to lie to myself and pretend I do look like her. As for inclusivity, VS has always been inclusive of different ethnicities. From what my wife and other female friends have told me, maybe 1 in 10 stopped shopping at VS because of the wokeness. The other 9 in 10 don't feel the quality is there to justify handing over 10x the money anymore. For most women, it's about the value of the purchase. Why buy a $1,000 dress when Target sells the same dress for $100, but also includes sewn in pockets? Most women aren't paying attention to these VS shows. They did two things wrong here. The reason why other lingerie brands that do better with plus size or curvy people do well is because they offer designs that are both sexy and flattering on people with those kinds of body types. VS just threw out the same kind of designs they would make for supermodels and put them on bodies that they weren't flattering on, because they misunderstood what larger clients were saying as "I want the same sexy designs in bigger sizes, regardless of how they would look on my body," instead of "I want larger sized designs that are also flattering to my body type and make me feel sexy." When I worked there as a salesgirl, bigger women often told me they wished that there was a wider variety of bra cup and band sizes available (which I think is very valid and doable, but didn't really happen with VS to the extent that would have helped them in in this rebrand). The second thing they did wrong was cater to a group of people who will only complain and never shop with them, regardless of the changes they make, because they just don't like the idea of the brand. What they should have done was listen to all the women, who over the years, have been down with the underlying concept but couldn't shop there because the main item they sold, bras (which are also practical and easier to find flattering solutions for curvy women than their dessous stuff), were not available in those women's sizes.

I think woke already reached it's high watermark tbh. They got away with A LOT for a long time because people were super disengaged and just assumed "ah yeah that's those crazy ppl, doesn't really affect me that much though", but then they took it too far and rather than being happy with the little play kingdom we'd carved out for them in HR departments, they decided they were going to make themselves heard in everyone's lives at every moment from games to movies to fashion, at which point people rebelled and it became clear just how much the entire world hates them.
Basically, they overplayed their hand and as a result people have stopped simply letting them do their thing because it's less effort as was the case initially; they made coexistence with them so unbearable that ironically now everyone has made it a priority to make sure their attitudes are not accepted or tolerated anywhere, and they're figuring out just how many people they've pissed off. I'm not sure why they were so dumb to force a conflict when they were obviously a tiny fringe minority, but there it is. They should have been happy with the leeway they were given to do their thing, it was already way more than their level of public support justified.
