To people who didn't realize, this is actually an adaptation of the original legend that later inspired Shakespeare's Hamlet. The hero here is the legendary figure of Amleth, who witnessed the murder of his father by the hands of his uncle, who also married his mother. Amleth later returned to avenge his father.

Finally a viking movie with decently accurate clothing. No Ragnar leather biker jackets and vambraces but actual mailshirts.
Also some colourful textiles and nice silver jewelry instead of muddy rags and bones on a string
No overabundance of tattoos and braids either. Maybe there is hope after all.

Why is this trailer being posted on IGN?IGNs movie audience mostly consist of MCU stans. MCU stans will probably find this film boring and will say that the new doctor strange popcorn movie is better than the arthouse film.

For anyone who might not know, Alex Skarsgard is the brother of Gustaf Skarsgard, who played Floki in 'Vikings'. Pretty cool to see both brothers represent viking characters.

There's zero historic accuracy. They missed the largest kingdoms of that historic period. And moved the nations from one side of the continent to another.

I've been waiting for this trailer for months...Ro ert Eggers is an incredible director and The Lighthouse is one of my favourite movies of all time...(I'm even working on a theatre play for the lighthouse.).His attention to historical accuracy, incredible cinematography and getting astounding actors on board is unparalleled..This movie is going to be incredible at the very least and a masterpiece at best... Looking forward to it ...

Well, there were some fantasy elements, but Vikings wearing historically *accurate* nasal *helms* without horns, accurate armours such as a *mail shirt* with short sleeves and *viking age swords* are something absolutely unheard of in modern media, yet here they are. I'm totally hyped for a historical inspired film where historians weren't ignored.
