1:09:27 - I made boxes instead of bricks, but fortunately this won't end up mattering.
Haven't commented before, but oh boy this playthroughs are fun to watch. You are all super nice and your dynamics are wholesome and entertaining. Really also dig hearing your thoughts by listening to the podcast afterwards. Thanks so much for the series!
This is great to hear, I'm glad you enjoyed this so much :)
I've never seen scores this high either! And it goes to show that sometimes tracking how everyone is doing is incredibly difficult. I'll often get distracted by the shiny points when, in retrospect, I should have ended a game.
Your editing of the session really makes this a very watchable play through.
Thanks Shrey, I'm glad you enjoyed this :)
I'm about halfway through and just want to say, it's such good fun listening to you folks play. Thanks for the entertainment!
Oh man, what an awesome playthrough! Great stuff!
Such a fun watch! It's great to hear your thoughts throughout and after in the friendly ties podcast. Tough decision with ending the game or going for those extra points, clearly it didn't work out here but it could totally fall your way in another game
I would never have chosen this game off the box alone. So glad I watched this play through. I’ll definitely be adding it to my list of games to check out. Love the banter between you all. Definitely did not expect Nick to end the game. Excellent content!
Fun game! I've actually had Anno for a while now... but no one to play with me for the last few months, so I'm reduced to enjoying it vicariously like this. Thanks for the video.
this video was quite hard to find, it didn't come up for me when i searched anno 1800 playthrough, or just anno 1800, but glad someone mentioned this has been made, so found it through jongetsgames channel. But really glad i found it!
Yesterday I tried to play a 2 handed solo games to get the rules and the flow of the games but it didn’t go as planned, it was quite overwhelming even though I’m used to play complex games. I can say your videos are very well done, they are well structured and we feel ready to play once we’ve watched them. Fantastic job, thank you Jon ! Next step is Ark Nova which I’ll receive next month 🥰
Wow, this game looks amazing. I’ve been looking forward to seeing a playthrough since you first talked about Anno on your channel, but now I actively want to try to play this one. It actually doesn’t look as heavy to me as BGG says, though I can see how the decision space may feel very large while playing.
It is a nice one for sure. I have upgraded mina as much as possible with tiny little gold bars etc.
Wow. This game is really cool!
Oh man, it breaks my heart to see Jon lose out on the end game trigger bonus. Great play by Nick anyway!
We use a variant: when exploring the New World, take two tiles and choose one. Makes it way less frustrating and random.
Great game, nice played. One action, which is mostly forgotten, is to to exchange cards. Jon could have get rid of all those cards with the exploration icons on it.
I tend to do everything I can to not spend a turn redrawing, in my experience you are just as likely to find new cards that don't work for you :P I liked having all those exploration icons because it gave me a path, even though I didn't end up getting through that path too well.
This was an enjoyable playthrough to listen to (yes, not watch - I was driving). I'm intrigued by the game but still undecided. I'm frequently a multiplayer solitaire player and this game doesn't suit that as well as some others.
You can call it “steal steel”
Love Anno 1800 - got over 20 games with my wife - we call them CHEAP too ;) (I am the cheap coal guy)
And I just noticed we have been playing sth wrong all the time... We immediately put trade tokens on the cards granting them (and ofc losing them at the Stadtfest) ... but we kept those "get rid of two cards (!)" cards beside us, ignoring the "!"
Not a huge mistake, but I'm glad we helped point that out for your future plays :)
@@JonGetsGames Yeah but it had a lot of influence on our strategies - when we should play those cards.
I don't know if you like or care for corrections, but at 1:09:30 you placed the red worker on the boxes but the card needed bricks haha, it was totally the same thing, but anyway :) Still watching and enjoying the gameplay. I wonder if anything you said on the game a year ago still the same, I guess I'll watch the other video for your thoughts, right?
Thanks for catching that, I've added notes for the mistake. I'm also not sure how much my opinion has changed, I did put out two different impressions vlogs about a year ago talking extensively about it though so feel free to check those out :)
I have no spacial perception so I’d be a disaster playing this. Good game and it kinda reminds me of the colonists. It would be interesting to see if you would dare playing the Colonist, as lengthy as it is.
I enjoyed my one play of The Colonists back when it came out, but yeah I don't see that one happening here :P These take a long time as it is, that one would probably be a 30 hour project!
@@JonGetsGames yep I could see that. Thanks again for a synergetic, bantering hoot of a game play!
Is it really "work shirt"? I mean, that's kind of funny so I have no problem with that monicker. But is it like...a uniform?
It is Work Clothes.
We played this mostly using a non-official translation of the german version, and that translation said "work shirts" in the TTS mod. Because of that, we got used to calling it that. Same with schtadfest vs city festival.
Sure, John! The scripted mod "accidentally grabbed" a trade token you threw away. 😉
