it's not a "Fake RX 580", the variant RX 580 2048SP was released officially by AMD over there in ASIA, but the truth is, that it is indeed an RX 570.
RX 570x
Rx580 2048sp, rx570, rx570x, rx470. All essentially the same 2048 stream processor chip with different BIOS, hence why you can flash them without issues. They're all identical if you look at their spec sheets.

That's is pretty much my PC I leave at a friends house for playing there, 2 big differences are the memory (mine has max speed 32GB) and the video card, I got an amazing deal on a RX 6800XT, but that would bring the total to around $450 for the whole rig, not including power supply or case, I already had that and used my old parts from a previous build. With the right video card this thing can play pretty much anything new even at high settings. You really still can't beat the performance for the price.
Batocera is pretty amazing. U can get a cheap Mayflash adapter for like $15 and wii motes are plug n play. Or u can make some convoluted mappings with a controller with gyro support
which is better overall, Chimera OS or HoloISO? I have installed holoiso on my RX580 Desktop PC and it's also like the Steam Deck OS and runs great.

I've watched just about every video of yours that covers these builds and others, and they don't cover it.
I know that isn't going to cover bench marks people want, and it isn't a big deal if it's not possible, I was just curious of these are possibilities.

Most of the video was pretty informative and enjoyable (I might give a shot at a build like this myself sometime, since I have an AliExpress mobile-on-desktop CPU motherboard combo sitting on a shelf), but there are a ton of incredibly noticable editing errors in this one. I've noticed that those have been cropping up a lot lately over the past few months. 😟

I actually just pieced together a very similar build to give my dad and the last 2 parts arrive today. I'm also going to use a steam OS like distro but I was thinking of going with bazzite over chimera OS. Does anyone here have an opinion one way or the other on which one is better?

Did you have any issues with bluetooth connection using wireless controllers. I saw some vids by other creators that they were having disconnects and permanent disconnects using the chimera os?
I havent had any issues with it, but im switching to bazzite os so i can have cooler control. My idle gpu fan is so loud. When i ran windows i just used after burner and that helped.
*@ETAPRIME* The tiny Lenovo ThinkCentre models m720q, m920q, m90q, p320, p330 & I believe also the m920x each all have an actual PCIe Express Slot (I believe x8). & there's x16 to x8 adapters/ connector cards (90° angle) made for this mod to add a single slot discrete GPU into the original housing. Some people have done it and drilled or cut holes in the top over the CPU & GPU fans for better airflow. Some have even 3D printed a new top cover/ lid for this upgrade. It'd be nice if you could do a video on it showing newer games running on it. I've seen a couple people do it with A2000 single slot mods. & it'd also be cool to see someone do it with a RX 6400 using Chimera OS. Which that I haven't seen yet (you'd be the 1st). These "Tiny" ThinkCentre Office PC's are about the size of the much more expensive MS-01. But can be bought "used" off ebay for a fraction of the price. Could be a nice tiny budget build.
Also it seems everyone that's done the GPU upgrade on a 1L mini/ tiny are using the i5 8500t variants of those ThinkCentre models mentioned above.

You should make a list of games that perform better on Linux, a side by side comparison.
The fact that the ps5 pro wont be far away from the price of this but many times its performance is what i am counting on
Does Chimaera OS lie to Steam or Cyberpunk by declaring that it's Windows 10 Pro? At 8:56, if you pause the video, Cyberpunk's benchmark report is IDing the OS as Windows 10 Pro.
WINE ( Proton ) makes it think the games running on Windows. Kinda how it works.

You should read some of the court filings, the Yuzu devs were pulling some seriously shady shit. They settled b/c they would have been crucified in court.

@@soccerman0021981 Unfortunately, a lot of projects that were done for the love of the hobby, years ago, are now, often, seemingly done to make loads of money. Just having a tip jar is one thing, but all these new stupid paywalls and stuff it really could complicate things or mess them up for things like emulation, modding, homebrew using borrowed assets, etc

People will always complain, it’s in their nature. He’d never get anything done if he tried to satisfy the complainers. Plenty of other tech channels to watch if they don’t like this one

Dude, you built the exact PC I built in 2017 as my first PC ever, with very minimal differences like instead of the 5600 I have the 1600X, and I have a FXF 580 8gb GPU. Otherwise pretty spot on. The biggest difference is I payed about $1,000 on it, but considering it’s about 7 years old, the difference is understandable. I’m mostly glad to see this is still a viable gaming PC, considering I still have and use it from time to time when I’m not playing on my Steam Deck.
What motherboard is that?

Almost 2 years ago I recommended a friend to get from AliExpress a RX 6600m (mobile chip in desktop card format) and is still performing very close to a full RX 6600 (In case someone wants to save a few buck in a project like ETAs)
I wanna ask two things.
Are there any different drivers they are release for installing this Rx 6600m graphic card or just use the driver we can get on AMD website ?
And will this Rx6600m work on CPU without iGPU like CPU with the last letter F.

How well does Linux handle HDR?
KDE Plasma 6 will include HDR support out of the box, its just been released so when the next round of major distro's are released.
the AliExpres 580's are not a 570X with a BIOS flash, well, technically, they're an official legitimate product sold by AMD for the chinese market, so the sellers did not flash the BIOS, AMD already did it out of the box, that's also the reason why GPU-Z doesn't call it out as fake, as it is a legitimate cut down 580 model
I built this as a Steam Deck console PC with a Ryzen 3 3100 and RX 570 4GB inside of a mini ITX case. Love the idea of this so much and these builds are the best for having a consolized PC.
The Ryzen 3 3100 though is not really that great for games because it has two cores on two different chiplets. So basically you have the maximum latency with the least processing power.
@@Jimster481 I know this. I had it lying around because I got it for $100 at the time or was released. It's now down to $50 for the same chip. Good luck getting the 3300X at that price.

And surprisingly i have not seen any VS videos for these 2 OS's ChimeraOS Vs HoloISO I think it would be a great video for like older windows base handhelds or budget PC's
Holo & Chimera both use steam ui if you were to install Holo or Chimera on your steam deck you wouldn’t notice a difference, when Switching to Desktop mode, Holo uses KDE DE & Chimera uses Gnome DE, correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t use either holo or chimera but I think Chimera uses a more recent kernel than holo, I think holo uses kernel 6.1 & chimera currently uses kernel 6.6 having a newer kernel would be beneficial if you have newer hardware lets say for example Intel arc card holo wouldn’t be able to use Intel arc card because it uses kernel 6.1 & intel arc cards needs kernel 6.2 for native Linux support. currently the Intel arc driver on Linux isn’t great for gaming but with a newer kernel bugs get ironed out, new features come out, In terms of actual differences between the two would be under the hood. If your just using the steam deck ui your not gonna notice a difference between the two. So it’s all just preference

Of course! It's just a computer, after all.
It's a little more hack-y on Linux since Epic Games doesn't natively support Linux, but Heroic Games Launcher is a 3rd party launcher that lets you play EGS games as if they were native Linux games. Although if you're a fan of Fortnite or similar multiplayer games with aggressive anti-cheat, those probably won't work. But for those games you can always just fully install or dual boot Windows.
Not bad, but I would pay the extra for the Ps5. Its stronger and a better value in the long run!

Yes. According to the ChimeraOS web page, ChimeraOS has "support for Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and dozens of console platforms".
The RX 470 then becomes 570, still continues to impress everybody after 7 years. This is probably the best value GPU of all time, which launched at a price tag of under $200 literally 7 years ago and still playing games today just fine. In fact, it can play the majority of titles in 1080p and light games in 1440p.
Can Linux take advantage of AMD GPUs and all the features built into it? I built a ll AMD rig for this purpose but heard Linux can't use things like frame gen or anti lag I have a 7900XTX 5800x3D.
If Linux can actually use the GPUs features I'll be switching over to fully test this.
AMD is very good with Linux support for their drivers. While I don't use those features myself, they should be available. Since you already have the hardware, give it a try!

The desktop was not a good experience when I had to tweak a few things when I tested a 5700G rig.
I would like to see a top of the line (just not 4090, but AMD GPU) running chimeraOS.

Good luck getting any driver updates for that gpu. Amd dropped support for the 500 series gpus
AMD doesn't have to support it! Unlike NVIDIA's Linux drivers, the AMDGPU kernel module is open source and is maintained by the community in conjunction with AMD. Just because AMD doesn't contribute to it anymore doesn't mean it doesn't get updates like on Windows. It'll be supported for as long as there's SOMEONE out there maintaining it.
I personally have had GPUs as old as R9 200 series run perfectly fine under the most recent AMDGPU drivers.
If you understand Steam Deck is portable and is a different thing, then why even compare it to this desktop?
It's the de facto standard for low end gaming. This is what game studios are targeting for "low" settings.

The question isn't whether it's faster than the Steam Deck, i mean, so what if it is, it's not portable gaming.
The question should be is it quicker than running these components under Windows 11, otherwise it's a completely pointless exercise.
If you listen to the video he mentions he has tested this build with Windows. Maybe check out that video? He already has the baseline so he can say "faster than Windows" in the games tested.

Seems to have alot of glitching in his videos that ive noticed. Like he doesnt watch them or whoever is editing them doesnt really watch them for a final time. Like at 7:51 The audio just starts repeating. Ive seen this happen in a few of his videos and im like huh??? Alot of stuff is kindve weird. Like sometimes i wonder if the footage he uses as the testing is the actual footage. If it is.. then run to run in some games can vary. Such as Helldivers. If he was running a windows test, then Chimera, He should stand at the entrance of the ship. That or start a training mission. The ones that are fine are built in benchmarks, but i know some of these games dont have built in ones or missions that are the same. so then standing still without input is a better comparison. Maybe he is doing stand still comparisons.. Why is he showing gameplay that moves. Or doesnt show the windows test at all? Seems like the effort is a C. Just barely passing. Not to mention.. at the end of the video.. "and like always................................................................................" Like always what.. You can literally copy and paste this part from video to video. lol. 0 effort to do this.

Honestly...you can pick up an Xbox Series S that can pump out 1080P with no issues at all. Plus you can get monthly Gamepass and get a tonne of free games to play. PC gaming at this low a cost seems...like a stretch!

Agreed but I personally switched from Xbox to pc because I didn’t want to pay for Xbox live to play with friends anymore and I could just do more with a pc. The Xbox route is def a great option though.
Well, to be fair, the build is very badly skewed towards the CPU. You could just buy a Ryzen 5500 which can be found for less than half of a 5600 and it's only 10% slower. Add a B450 board and a RX 5600XT and you'll be in the $330 range with much better performance.
Um, if you are paying for Gamepass, then the games aren't free...
@@Liminal.Headspaceyep the cpu got only about 60% load in CP, in other games is often way lower, imho a 4500 will do the job as well.
Linux is faster than windows in process scheduling, disk access, and memory access so if proton is really efficient, it should be faster.

This performance would be acceptable for me for a mini PC, but as this is not the case this build does not make any sense to me. Such graphics cards have often been used for mining and are pretty f... up.
This build is for those on an extreme budget. A mini PC with 780M graphics or better is about double the price. And Radeon cards this old were rarely used for mining; they aren't powerful enough. The used ones showing up now are generally from people who upgraded now that the GPU shortage is (mostly) over.

Deck is a portable system you can game on during flights or train/bus trips or when you are waiting, or when you are away from home. this is a very old PC put together using used parts which can be fake or defective. Then it is matter of drivers not getting updated on these 580/590's and they are left behind. playing on the go has nothing to do with this PC

A Steam Deck and a gaming desktop are two entirely different things. If you were showing us how to build a handheld gaming device, that would be one thing, but's very clear you're just putting Steam Deck in the title to get clicks.
