The Tomb Kings only got their first own Armybook in 2003. Before that they were just part of the "Undead" faction, though charakters like Settra and mummies did exist. That was in 1992 ( 4th edition) though. So no - the tomb kings did not became a full army the same year that the movie was released.

@@Grimnir1989 okay so it looks like my source may have been incorrect or was lacking the full story. Vampire counts did split off from undead in 1999. For desert bases try covering in CA gel then sprinkle on baking soda, the way it drys causes the underlying glue to contract into little ripples that make a very convincing blown sand effect. Optionally try putting little bit's of egg shell down in the glue before adding your baking soda, it looks a good bit like pottery shards.

I agree so much on the points about TK being interestingly different - though for me all the the Old world was full of that both play style and ascetically - Dwarf with their clockwork 'steampunk' vibe, the TombKing rather glittering riches for a horde of dead things, Vampire counts almost aristocratic snobbery to a fault, such a sense of style... Skaven and Lizard men for a bit more not very human like variety and the 3 elf and the 2 human factions actually have a fair bit of variety in their look and style... Its not just we are the Space marines that wear RED! Heck in 40K even alot of the alien units just look like slightly thinner Spacemarines with slightly funny heads...

Age of Fantasy from One Page Rules has a mummified undead army. The game is miniatures agnostic, so you can use old Tomb Kings minis, or there's a number of stls for 3d printing including an entire army from One Page Rules.
What's even better, is if you have the points calculator for OPR, it's relatively easy to add new units to the army list if you find a cool mini that doesn't have a listing in it, and want to add it to your army.

I know right? That model is so good and they just offed it! Insane...My buddy bought 4 boxes of those Diaz models, they may end up on my table at some point, but yeah, TK models are crazy expensive.

Check out One Page Rules Mummified Undead. They pull from the Tomb Kings in some ways. I love the Tomb Kings and hope they get brought back with the upcoming The Old World war game from GW.

I’d genuinely consider getting into AoS should these guys be interested, the standard troops, likely being Skeletons, are relatively easy and really fun to paint. And the larger units just look sick.

Tomb Kings should be coming back with the Old World reboot, there have already been a few allusions to them in the (little) advertising we have got for it.

Got some pewter stuff seems to be from around mid 90’s an abbadon a Kharn sorcerer terminator and a juggernaut with rider and 10 plastic blood reavers with spurs extra part and a full transfer sticker sheet some of the pewter stuff is alittle painted mostly just black base coat

I'm not sure, it might harden it, but then again it might dissolve it before that happens. Definitely worth trying though, to see if the webs can be hardened right out of the brush or after the fact.

Dang, I recently got into AoS thanks to Vermintide and seeing the older armies are just great kinda wish i started playing in the old days, I went with Orruk Warclans mainly Ironjawz, Savage & Kruleboyz simply because I like how they look, save for the Kruleboyz I get a small lotr vibe from them tbh, hearing all about the old world and all the factions there in was great its pretty disappointing that Games Workshop did what they did & I wish they treated their fans better without the ridiculous pricing i guess I'll look on Amazon or Ebay for older armies.

I take my army and play better games lol
TK was my first Miniature Wargaming thing ever, I'll never forgive GW for killing them off.
Here is my story, When AoS dropped and we had those hold-over indexes I had dusted off my Kings, went and played, and had a ball. Liked them so much I bought more GW stuff for the first time in years.
Liked it so much I wrote a physical letter to them, thanking them for the changes that made TK finally decent. Even got a nice letter back, saying that if I loved what I'd done with Tomb Kings then what was coming would be 'to die for'
Two months later they killed the line.
I wrote them back, with a copy of that letter. got another one back, apparently the marketing guys (who my letter ended up with) don't get any information about the lines and what GW is actually doing and didnt know they were going to be canned when they sent me that letter.
So yeah, they dont get my money now.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  Před 2 lety +1

Totally fair, I remember seeing the End Times come and go and I was seriously baffled as to why they would make new models and then go kill off the army. It's a shame that they couldn't rebrand them for AOS, it probably wouldn't have been that hard to do for them either.

Even if we don't see Tomb Kinds return for The Old World, we'll always have Kingdoms of War, 9th Age, and One Page Rules's Age of Fantasy.
Also, people can still just play the old versions of Warhammer Fantasy Battles, or the fan-made 9th edition version, if it's that important to them.
In many ways, Tomb Kings being uncopyrightable - and thus banished to the wastes beyond Games Workshop - makes the concept of "Undead Mummy Army" free to be used by anyone. Like Games Workshop games, no matter how much the Egyptians would like to believe otherwise, there were green places beyond the Nile and beyond the deserts that border it. There is more to the world than Egypt, and there's more to the wargaming hobby than Games Workshop.

If you're interested in going after fantastic, but discontinued, models from GW the Fimir Noble is possible the coolest after Khalida herself.
