I've always really liked the 66 myself, Mark. I guess the consumer just didn't think there was enough of a change from the 64, which could be why the sales numbers were down.

Beautiful car! This is a perfect example of the difference between cars of that era and now. They had such style and vibrance and individuality compared to the bland garbage we have these days. Try and think of a car today that you can be proud to own unless you are super rich and can buy something like a Ferrari. How I do hate the twenty-first century.

Great video love all the 1960,s and early 1970 thunderbirds my uncle had a dark green 1964 t-bird in the mid 1970,s I can remember riding in it and the front bucket seats were sow low I couldn’t see over the dash board .tried too buy a couple off those early 60,s t- bird back in the 80,s but everyone that had one wanted a kings ransom for them back then even the rusty ones I did manage too buy a one owner 67 4 door t-bird that was my daily for about a year it was fantasticly reliable .that’s a beautiful convertible but I couldn’t see paying 40 grand for any old car once you start getting into money like that for a car you almost don’t want too drive it .too many poor careless drivers on the road .today .👍✌️

We're living in an era that will be viewed in the future, as innocent. Through CZcams we're able to visit small towns all over the United States and the people that live in those towns. We should learn to admire folks that wouldn't cheat you, lie to you or take advantage of you. Small towns have those types of people. If you live in Chicago, New York or L.A. you're used to so called "sophisticated" or "educated" people that will steal you blind. Give me a "Brandon" to talk to any day or buy a car at $40K when the crew at Mechums Car Auction will try to convince you that car is undervalued at $68K and should really sell for $80K.

I've been playing around with old Birds for 50 years. The main reason for a slow flip-lid motor is a bad ground. The negative battery cable normally connect to the engine block. There needs to be a ground strap between the engine block and the chassis of the car. If that ground strap is missing you have a high resistance between the engine block and chassis. Normally everything will work, just slowly as in the case of the flip lid motor. The rear windows also need to be cleaned and greased, as the 64-66 are geared high and the motor just barely has enough torque to make them operate quickly and smoothly. Also, whenever you run the top up or down the engine should be running and hold it at a very fast idle that will allow the alternator to provide plenty of amps to keep up with the current draw of the top operation. The 64 convertible went to an all-in-one switch on the flip-lid which can be troublesome. This car obviously has a good one since it all works properly. You can get the switch rebuilt at several vendors if necessary. The flip lid transmission gears can get worn and allow a lot of slop which throws the switch out of adjustment. They can be rebuilt as well. There is also a set screw that can be adjusted on the worm gear of the flip lid transmission to take out slop. The Marquette speed control likely will not work as it is complex, much more so than the perfect circle used on many other cars at this time. This particular car looks to be in fantastic shape and should sell quickly. they are wonderful cars. I could go on and on about the heat and air, etc but I won't bore you with all the details. When everything is working properly these are neat cars. ONE MORE THING: For 64 only, there was a brake relay added after the sale because all six brake light bulbs being fed by the hydraulic brake switch was too much current for the switch . It caused issues with the brake light switch burning up from excessive current. A fix was added to install a brake light relay on the left from inner fender. This powered the brake lights through the relay contacts. This kit is available from the Tbird suppliers. Many of the 64s never did get this dealer fix.
