Kroos is done unfortunately he was the weakest link in the midfield and it was a wrong decision to take off modric instead of him.

I agree with Ale here, Man City was far superior but at times they really do need better game management. They should've defended much better and kept more possession of the ball up two goals. At the end of the day, they did still allow 3 goals even after scoring 4. Being pushed against the wall and getting a result is nothing new for Madrid. What a match! Anyone who spoke down on Madrid up until this point will finally realize that Real Madrid deserves to be here! They fought hard for those wins, they fought hard for the 3 goals today. From central and Attacking Midfielder, Winger up to the striker are playing on elite level, but their defense is playing like bunch of bums, losing Varane, Ramos, and then Marcelo and probably Carva aging really takes a toll on their defense, plus putting Kroos at defensive Midfielder position is bad decision, putting in Camavinga is a better decision than playing aging Kroos at Central Mid beside Modric. Their distribution from the back to mid or front is mediocre at best sofar not like it used to like 3-4 years ago.

Like it or hate it, Madrid don’t beg anyone to stay, extend, whatever. Madrid is a ruthless example of no player is bigger than the club, the other clubs being Chelsea, City, Liverpool and Bayern, but they aren’t so ruthless in showcasing it. There is the other side of the story too where professionals like Pogba, Dembele, Alba, Maguire, Delli Ali etc have taken advantage of the extra protection offered by the club to ruin it. The only thing I personally don’t like is the fans booing their own players multiple times.
That match brought back the same hype I had as a neutral when watching Man u vs Real M back in the early 2000s. It was an incredible match.
That was a great match with the likes of Beckham scoring a freekick and Ronaldo of Brazil scoring a hatrick

I really don’t understand Ancelotti’s team selection in this game. Playing both Vini and Rodrygo with no defensive mid vs a team as dangerous as City was always a recipe for disaster. Casemiro is injured and the back up for him is camavinga. Cam is good but he's very reckless, starting him against pep would be a terrible idea.

Kroos has actually been playing really well as of late. That being said, he should have started Cama or at least took him out at the hour mark today.
Kroos knows how to handle pressure better than other midfield players. He soaked city’s pressure and thanks to him we had what little possession we had and were out of our own half. Yes he is slow but he is the one in madrid that controls the game. And changes wings whenever we start to get stuck. Without him Real would have no possession today and scoreline would look horrible. 4-3 aint bad considering it was an away game

They weren't unlucky. If their player didn't make the foul that wouldn't have happened. Being punished for making a foul isn't bad luck, it's about as cause-and-effect as you can get.

As a Chelsea fan watching the game, I'm just in awe of Real Madrid because they are not a great side, I feel like you put them in a 38 game season with Man City and Liverpool and they finish 3rd by a distance, they're probably on the same level as Chelsea, maybe not even that because of how over reliant they are on Vini and Benzema and how much Chelsea outplayed them for 3 halves of football. But here they are in Manchester, outplayed for the entire game, could've conceded 6 or 7 goals but just needed 2 moments of magic to keep themselves in the tie, it's truly incredible how they defy football tactics. It makes me love the game more because you can just take your tactics and shove them where the sun doesn't shine if you've got players up top that can produce like Vinicius and Benzema.
The guys in the studio are criticizing Laporte for the Vini goal but I remember in the Chelsea games, Benzema got 2 goals because one of the CBs got pulled over to Vinicius in pretty much the same area and he crosses the ball into the box for Benzema to finish, so can you blame Laporte for over committing, part of him might've expected for Ederson to deal with the shot but Vinicius is playing with so much confidence right now that you probably shouldn't take that risk.
What a lovely game it was, I got no reason to criticize any of these teams. Clearly Real Madrid are not the best team in Europe but they got as good a chance as anyone right now to win the champions league.

I don’t think anyone was expecting Madrid to stay alive. Those first 10-15mins were atrocious.
City were so high up the field pressing Madrid’s back line and creating chance after chance.
The entire back line was horrendous. Militao and nacho kept falling out of position. Mendy could not mark anyone to save his life.
And Carvajal was so high up the field by the time he dropped back City had already scored.
Score line should’ve been 6-0.
But that’s why Madrid are so dangerous. Just when you think the threat is over, they turn around and bite you.
They are so quick in the counter, and both benzema and Vini are ice cold in front of goal.
